Mu Ko Ang Thong is a marine national park in the Gulf of Thailand in Surat Thani Province. It covers 42 islands in a total area of 102 km2, of which about 50 km2 are land and the rest is water. The park was established on 12 November 1980. The northern tip of Ko Phaluai is also part of the marine park. There is a ranger station, bungalows, a shop, and a restaurant at Ao Phi Beach on Ko Wua Talap. The name Ang Thong means 'bowl of gold'. Mu Ko simply means 'group of islands'. Since 2002 the park has been registered as Ramsar site number 1184.

Welcome to the 6th and last episode in my Thailand Travel Series! Today I’m going to bring you along to some of the beautiful islands Thailand has to offer!

After spending a month in Thailand, I wanted to show you some of the islands we visited during our stay. We were based in Koh Samui, so 2 of these trips are super accessible if you are staying there. The third island we went to was Phi Phi Island.

Want to know what to expect in Thailand during rain season? Go no further, I got you covered.

1. Koh Phangan was the first island tour we went on. We rented a speed boat and drove around to some of the beautiful destinations close by.
2. Ang Thong National Marine Park was the second island tour we joined. This was a beautiful trip, including destinations like: Koh Wua Ta Lap, Koh Mae and Emerald Lake.
3. Phi Phi Islands was the third trip we did. Since it was rainy season, we did get hit with a few storms, but overall nice weather. The beautiful destinations we visited here include: Monkey Beach, Phi Le Lagoon, Viking Cave, Maya Bay.

Ang Thong National Marine Park

Ang Thong National Marine Park trip from koh phangan with orion cruise. The Koh Samui National Park Tour is almost the same. We visited the mu ko ang thong national park thailand 2018.
At the first stop 0:18 after about 2 hours boat ride from Koh Phangan we could go snorkeling in Angthong.

Stop 2 0:50 Koh Mae Ko where we were able to kayak around one of the islands and into one of the sea caves. We then climbed stairs to see the view point Koh Mae Ko of Anthong National Park and the Thale Nai Emerald Lake Blue Lagoon.

Stop 3 2:13 Koh Wua Ta Lap We climbed the stairs to the viewpoint Mirador Ko Wua Ta Lap 2:37 . The view of the islands of Angthong National Park was unforgettable. Ending the trip at an island Ko Wua Ta Lap with swimming and relaxing.

Koh Wua Talap Island

Koh Wua Talap Island. Here you can choose to go to see the caves with beautiful limestone formations which is about 50 minutes walk or to the view point, or just relax and enjoy the beach, and see the monkeys. Probably one of the best hikes in the islands of the Gulf of Thailand. Here,there is a
path leading up the side of the rocks. This will take maybe 30 minutes to walk up, and well worth it. But be warned, this is not a hike for the faint hearted. Make sure you have good footwear as there are sharp limestone crags which will be your foothold, especially towards the peak. With a breathtaking view of all the Ang Thong islands, the end result of the hike is well worth it. This trek will justify the trip to Ang Thong alone, but please be warned, this is a tough and steep climb!!!

This is from Angthong national marine park located WWN of Koh Samui.
Takes a little while to get there from Samui by boat but is well worth the tour.
This is from Wua Talap Island which has a 500 meters mountain trek, if you're up to it.
Just make sure to be in somewhat good condition and bring water for the climb. It's pretty hot for a trek in these temperatures.
The trek up is pretty steep and full of rocks , but there is a robe to hold onto most of the way, and after the viewing platform at top, the last cliffs towards the top can be a bit tricky to get past, so be careful.

In today's Vlog I'm going on a tour to Ang Thong National Marine Park. Not far from Koh Phangan. I been wanted to visit this place for so long, and actually booked the tour about 1 year ago. But it got cancelled because there were not enough customers, that had booked the tour. And now, I finally went. But everything didn't go as smooth as I was hoping for. So I just have to try my luck, and go again another time.

The park was established on 12 November 1980. The northern tip of Ko Phaluai is also part of the marine park. There is a ranger station, bungalows, shop and restaurant at Ko Wua Talap at Ao Phi.

The name Ang Thong (Thai: อ่างทอง) means bowl of gold. Mu Ko (หมู่เกาะ) simply means group of islands.
