Achutaraya Temple & Shri. Kodandarama Temple - Hampi, KARNATAKA...Part (8)
Achutaraya Temple-The temple dedicated to Lord Tiruvengalanatha, a form of Vishnu , was constructed by a high officer in Achyuta Raya's court and hence the name. The temple complex and the ruined market street in front of it sit in a semi secluded valley created by two hills -- the Gandhamadana & Matanga hills . Two huge ruined towers, one behind the other, give access to the temple courtyards. There are mainly two ways to reach Achyuta- Raya's Temple. Take a side trip from the Kodanda Rama Temple -- King's Balance path.Another way is to climb the steps near the Monolithic Nandi at the east end of the Hampi Bazaar. This is the quick way to reach from Hampi Bazaar to Achyuta Raya's Temple. Also it offers you a good perspective of the temple plan from the hill top. A visit to the Hanuman shrine on the way is a bonus. Shri. Kodandarama Temple-Lord Rama, being an incarnation of Lord Vishnu, has Adishesha -- the seven hooded serpent -- over his head. The rectangular 'Garbha Gruha', sanctum sanctorum, enshrines the idols of Shri Ram, Sita, and Laxman which are about 15 feet high. The temple faces the holy bathing ghat, Chakrathirtha, and acquires more religious than architectural significance. It is so close to the river Tungabhadra that during the rainy season, water flows over the steps of the temple.
One can see huge idols of Lord Rama, his brother Laxman and his wife Sita in standing posture. These figures are carved out of a natural boulder. Both Rama and Laxman are holding bows (Kodanda) in their left hands and arrows in their right hands. People believe that this is the place where Lord Rama killed Bali and crowned Sugreeva as the King of Kishkhinda. Sugreeva then worshiped for Rama by making a temple here.
KODANDA RAMA TEMPLE / TODAY UPDATE
Hampi | Sri Kodanda Swami Temple | kishkinda
The Kodanda Rama Temple is situated towards the east of Hampi at the end of the Virupaksha Bazaar. A small pathway from Virupaksha Bazaar at the east end leads along the river bank to Kodanda Rama temple. This temple faces Chakrathirtha, the most sacred bathing ghat in the river.
The spot marks the place where Lord Rama crowned Sugriva as the King of Kishkhinda. The rectangular Garbha Gruha of the temple contains about 15 feet tall standing figures of Lord Rama, Sita and Lakshmana. These figures are carved out of a natural boulder.
Hampi - Hazara Rama Temple
The Hazararama Temple (A thousand Rama's) was built exclusively for the royals of the Vijayanagara during the early part of the 15th Century, by King Devaraya II.
Four ornate marble columns, carved from a single block, dominate the mandapa.
On the walls, both inside and outside of the temple, the entire Ramayana story is depicted in glorious detail, and which have survived in a better state of preservation than most other temples. On the outside walls, processions are also depicted. Thankfully, the invading Deccan Sultanates never damaged the temple, and this suggests some kind of agreement was made with the defeated army and its residents.
The temple sits almost in the middle of the Royal Enclosure, and is one of the most beautiful in Hampi.

Sri Prana Devaru (Yantrodharaka Anjaneya Swamy) Hampi. The temple is dedicated to Lord Hanuman (The Monkey God) and is also known as Yantrodharaka Anjaneya temple. It is situated right behind the Kodanda Rama Temple near the Chakrathirtha at Hampi, a historical site located in South India, is on the banks of River Tungabhadra in Karnataka state.
This temple contains the image of Lord Hanuman positioned inside an amulet (locally called Yantra and hence the name). If you get a chance to take a closer look, you can find a number of monkeys carved around this amulet like the hour markers in a clock dial, hence it is called Yantrodharaka Anjaneya. Guru Vyasaraja established this temple during the period of King Sri Krishnadevaraya.

1.MATANGA HILL has already explained to you more about.
2.ACHUTARAYA TEMPLE.you can enjoy this magnificent panorama from the top of Matanga hill.a beautiful temple in our view when we go down the Matanga hill back.the temple was built during the rule of Achudevaraya, the younger brother of the emperor of the Vijayanagara empire Krishnadevaraya.in video you can see that some of the idols in the temple are destroyed.in the 16th century ,the Vijayanagara empire was attacked by companions of the Deccan Sultans of the neighbouring country.they tried to destroy many palaces ,temples, and stone artifacts in Hampi.they must have been hard for trouble because it were rocks.that is why today the beauty and abundanceof that time are visible to us.Humpi's unlimited wealth also contributed to violence.for many days ,looting and destruction continued....there is no ban on video capture at Achutaraya temple.access is totally free..
3.COURTESAN STREET.cortesan street is a street that stands in front of Achutaraya temple.it is interesting to note that the 4 market that existed in Hampi during the Vijayanagara dynasty are located on the front of 4 major temples.devadasi's market.the dancing girls used to stand on this street and entice men.courtesan street (zule bazar)
4.VARAHA TEMPLE.the Varaha temple is located at the northern end of courtesan street..Varaha temple is one of the ost impressive temples in Hampi.the structure is famous for its architectural beauty and carvings on the walls.the Varaha temple is dedicated to Varaha swamy, one of the ten incarnations of Lord Vishnu.
5.KODANDARAMA TEMPLE...the temple facing Tungabhadra river.it is believed to be Kishkinta in Hampi, mentioned in Ramayana(legends of Indian mythology)according to belief ,this is the place where Rama killed Bali and crowned Sugreeva.the name Kodandarama means crowned Rama ,in local dialect.we did not want to copy the parts of the temple to the camera.the temple is still worships and other things.
6.CHAKRATIRTHA..it is regarded as the most sacred bathing spot on the river Tungabhadra.the place holds huge attraction for pilgrims and is thronged by a large number of people on auspicious days. the monsoon season is not safe here.the water level rises up to Kodandarama temple's courtyard.the big attraction here is the Coracle ride.that's a special experience.....you can enjoy the beauty of the rishimukh hill by coracle ride.there are a lot of chambers and pillars visible.the huge holes in the rock for the stone bridge were curious.bridge made with stones.elephant rocks.when looking at a rock,an elephant ,which seems to be drowning in water.from an angle we will feel like that.on that day ,the first visitors to the coracle ride were us.they demand Rs.900 for Rs.450 for one person.they may be demanded more money because they saw Vantoh a foreigner. bargaining is one of the important things you should note during Hampi visit.whether it's an auto charge or a guide or dress,we should bargain well.bargain for coracle ride,we have made it from 900 to 500 rupees..that means Rs. 250 for a person.if there was time ,some time it would have been less.with this coracle ride we left our morning portion visit and returned to the room. ಹಂಪೆ
Hampi - Mysterious & Otherworldly - Sparkling Crystal Walls in the Pattabhirama Temple
The Inner Sanctum of the Pattabhirama Temple is encased in an outer shell. Only two other temples in Hampi have this feature - the Vitthala and Krishna temples. But the Pattabhirama Temple is the largest of them all, so it's strange that it's not frequented by many tourists. However, the temple is located on the other side of the nearest town, Hemalapura, and the moto taxi drivers don't take tourists that far. You have to either request a visit or, in my case, be lucky enough to have a car.
The Pattabhirama Temple was built in 1540 under the rule of King Achyutaraya, and was located in the suburbs of the ancient city, hence its location away from the main centre and off the tourist trail.
The granite blocks used in the temple are covered in crystals, and with a small light the walls sparkle as you walk around the eerie interior structure. It makes for quite an experience....

Hazara Rama & Pattabhirama Temple - Hampi, KARNATAKA...Part (6)
Hazara Ram temple is a huge temple in Hampi. This was a private temple of the kings.Only royal people used to worship here. This temple was given the name Hazara Rama or Hazari Rama because of the art work created on the walls based on Ramayana. Beautiful carvings can be seen on the inner and outer walls. These art works depicts the paintings of elephant, horses, and army troops. The sculptures on the inner part of the temple depicts the scene from Ramayana and other deities. Pattabhirama temple on the south of the sacred river Tungabadra located in scenic hilly surroundings is the largest among the ruins. This wonderful temple is noted for its largeness. Pattabhirama Temple is situated in the city of Hampi. The east-facing sanctum is a tri-tala vimana with an antarala, ardha-mantapa and maha-mantapa. The large and square maha-mantapa is a finely proportioned seven aisled structure with tall and slender composite pillars of various types. To the east of the ardha-mantapa is the usual covered pradakshina-prakara enclosing the garbha-griha and the antarala.
