The lower part of the Königstraße up as far as the Schlossplatz (Palace Square) was laid out at the beginning of the 19th century during the reign of Friedrich, the first king of Württemberg, when he moved the royal stables and the Eberhardskirche (St. Eberhard's Church) here from Solitude Palace.
The start of the pedestrian precinct, where Stuttgart Marketing GmbH's i-Punkt tourist information centre is now located, was once the site of the Königstor, or King's Gate, before its remains were demolished in 1922.For the 1977 national gardening exhibition the approx.
400 metres of the lower Königstraße were redesigned as a pedestrian precinct with fountains, trees, kiosks and playground equipment by the Stuttgart architects' office Behnisch.Nowadays Königstrasse is a busy shopping boulevard 1.2 kilometres long with specialist shops, department stores, cafés, restaurants and relaxation areas. One of Germany's longest and finest shopping thoroughfares, it begins opposite the main railway station and runs right through the heart of the city. Other streets to the right and left of it, such as Eberhardstrasse, Stiftstrasse and stylish Calwer Strasse are equally inviting, with elegant shops and boutiques.

Die Königstraße - to najdłuższa i najbardziej ruchliwa ulica handlowa w Europie. Powstała w XIX wieku z inicjatywy pierwszego wirtemberskiego króla Fryderyka. Na ulicy prawo ruchu mają wyłącznie piesi. W okresie szczytowego ruchu Königstraße przechodzi codziennie ponad 100 000 ludzi. Wędrując długa na 1200 m ulica Königstraße można podziwiać wiele ważnych obiektów, na przykład: Bonatzbau (Dworzec Główny), Stary i Nowy Zamek oraz wiele sklepów, galerii i innych ciekawych miejsc. Szczególnie interesującym miejscem jest Pustelblumenplatz z fontanną. Komu sie uda zakręcić korbka, ten uruchomi tryskające fontanny wody, które są pięknie podświetlone i sprawiają niesamowite wrażenie. Atrakcja ta szczególnie popularna jest wśród najmłodszych turystów.

The Staatsgalerie Stuttgart is an art museum in Stuttgart, Germany, it opened in 1843. In 1984, the opening of the Neue Staatsgalerie designed by James Stirling transformed the once provincial gallery into one of Europe's leading museums.
Originally, the classicist building of the Alte Staatsgalerie was also the home of the Royal Art School. The building was built in 1843. After being severely damaged in World War II, it was rebuilt in 1945-1947 and reopened in 1948.
It houses the following collections:
Old German paintings 1300-1550
Italian paintings 1300-1800
Dutch paintings 1500-1700
German paintings of the baroque period
Art from 1800-1900 (romanticism, impressionism)
The Neue Staatsgalerie, a controversial architectural design by James Stirling, opened on March 9, 1984 on a site right next to the old building. It houses a collection of 20th-century modern art — from Pablo Picasso to Oskar Schlemmer, Joan Miró and Joseph Beuys. The building layout bears resemblance to Schinkel's Altes Museum, with a series of connected galleries around three sides of a central rotunda. However, the front of the museum is not as symmetrical as the Altes Museum and the traditional configuration is slanted with the entrance set at an angle.

Stuttgart, capital of southwest Germany’s Baden-Württemberg state, is known as a manufacturing hub. Mercedes-Benz and Porsche have headquarters and museums here. The city is filled with greenspaces, which wrap around its center. Popular parks include the Schlossgarten, Rosensteinpark and Killesbergpark. Wilhelma, one of the largest zoos and botanical gardens in Europe, is just northeast of Rosenstein Castle.
Ask many Germans their opinion of Stuttgarters and they'll have plenty of things to say: they are road hogs, speeding along the autobahn; they are sharp-dressed executives with a Swabian drawl; they are tight-fisted homebodies who slave away to schaffe, schaffe, Häusle baue (work, work, build a house).
So much for the stereotypes: the real Stuttgart is less superficial than legend would have it. True, some good-living locals like their cars fast and their restaurants fancy, but most are just as happy getting their boots dirty in the surrounding vine-clad hills and hanging out with friends in the rustic confines of a Weinstube (wine tavern) or a chestnut tree-shaded Biergarten. In this, the capital of Baden-Württemberg, city slickers and down-to-earth country kids walk hand in hand, with no need to compromise.
Stuttgart, capital of the federal state of Baden-Württemberg, is famous as a centre of the automotive industry, a business location and a city of trade fairs, congresses and culture. In addition, it's no less popular as a destination for day excursions, recreation and travel.
