In the beautiful pastoral area called the Makiba-en, you can milk a cow, take a ride on a horse or part of the restored horse tramway, watch the sheep-and-dog show, and much more. At the Makiba Astronomical Observatory, you can observe sunspots by day and the expanse of the stars by night. In winter, the Makiba-en is free, and also hosts the popular Iwate Snow Festival.
Another great reason to visit Koiwai is its delicacies. Try the rich, milky soft serve ice cream made with the Farm's fresh milk and eggs, and the fluffy omelet stuffed with rice.
Admission is free during the winter season; many people come to enjoy the Iwate Snow Festival held at Koiwai. About 750,000 people visit Koiwai every year.
A number of the farm buildings at, Kamimaru Gyusha, such as the silos, the six cowsheds, and the head office, have been named National Tangible Cultural Properties. These buildings are just part of the exquisite scenery of Koiwai, which has been used as a shooting location for television dramas and the 2003 film When the Last Sword Is Drawn. ( Yojiro Takita, the director of When the Last Sword is Drawn, has since won the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film with his 2008 film Departures. ) Fans of these productions flock here regularly, as do those of Iwate's most famous author, Miyazawa Kenji, who wrote of Koiwai and its landmarks. For example, the nearby Oi no Mori ( Wolves' Forest ) appears in Kenji's writings, and together with six other beautiful scenic spots from his works, form part of a nationally designated Place of Scenic Beauty ( The Scenery of Ihatov ) .
But perhaps the most famous and memorable view of Koiwai is the Solitary Cherry Tree, blooming in spring against the backdrop of snow-covered Mt. Iwate. This magnificent century-old cherry tree in the pasture next to the factory was originally planted about 100 years ago to provide a pleasant shade for the cows on the farm
Since production of foodstuffs takes place on the farm, tours of the farm are limited to designated viewing areas along the wide-area farm road, for hygienic reasons. Smoking and open fire are prohibited in the area, including the parking lots and the viewing areas.

해안을 따라 다시 길을 나섰다. 아침부터 하늘이 흐리더니 그새 비가 내린다. 비가 오니 이와테의 녹음이 더 짙어진다. “류센도는 자연적으로 만들어진 동굴로 예로부터 깨끗한 물이 솟는 동굴로서 이 지역 분들에게도 친숙한 곳입니다.” 일본의 3대 석회 동굴 중 하나인 류센도 동굴에 들어서면 지저호와 종유석이 자아내는 신비한 공간이 펼쳐진다. 동굴 안쪽으로 맑은 물이 솟아올라 여러 개의 지저호가 있다. 동굴 안은 조사로 밝혀진 곳만 해도 3.6km다. 지금도 조사가 이뤄지고 있어서 총 길이는 5km이상 될 것으로 예상 된다고 한다. 수심 98미터 아래에 있는 제3 지저호는 멀리서도 보일만큼 옥색 물빛을 발하고 있다. 폐쇄된 동굴에 이렇게 신비감이 감도는 자연이 있다니 놀랍기만 하다. “뭐라고 해야 할까요, 자연의 크기에 압도되었다고 해야 할까요? 이렇게 아름다운 세계가 있구나 하고 감동했습니다.” 1cm 자라기 위해서 50여 년이 걸린다는 종유석. 오랜 시간, 자연은 예술작품을 만들어 낸다. 수 만 년을 살아온 종유석을 보니 백년도 살지 못하는 인간의 욕심이 얼마나 어리석은지 깨닫게 된다.

大人から子供まで楽しめる観光名所として知られている小岩井農場まきば園で初開催となった冬のイルミネーションイベントで、東北最大級の規模となる約150万球の美しい光が園内を美しく彩りました。
足元は滑りやすかったのですが、雪に反射して輝くイルミネーションがとても幻想的なイベントでした。

Iwate Snow Festival 2015年 岩手県・小岩井農場まきば園 いわて雪まつり 雪像ライトアップ Trip to Iwate Tohoku Japan
2015年2月に岩手県岩手郡雫石町の小岩井農場まきば園で開催した、いわて雪まつりです。
「いわて雪まつり」は今年で48回目を迎え、名物となった大雪像や滑り台など、豪雪地帯でもある雫石の雪を身近に感じる事ができる楽しいイベントです。
また、小岩井農場ならではの食にも親しめる、かまくらジンギスカンも待ち時間のできる程の人気っぷりで、ラム肉や甘くておいしい野菜などを味わう事ができます。
夜にはカラフルな照明で敷地内を照らし出す、大雪像ライトアップや、開催期間中に連日行われているファンタジー花火などが行われる、朝から夜まで楽しめるイベントです。
今回の動画はSony α7SのS-Log2ガンマを使用して、カラーグレーディング後にYoutubeへアップロードしています。1300%のハイダイナミックレンジで収録が可能ですが、通常の撮影モードよりもノイズがとても目立ちやすくなります。

Iwate Snow Festival with Fantasy Fireworks in Tohoku Japan.
2013年2月に岩手県岩手郡雫石町の小岩井農場まきば園で開催した、いわて雪まつりと連日開催した花火大会 「ファンタジー花火」です。
毎年2月に行われている「いわて雪まつり」は、豊富な雪で製作した大雪像や、氷の彫刻が見どころとなっているイベントで、夜間には幻想的なライトアップも行われます。
イベント開催期間中は、かまくらの中でジンギスカンを楽しめる「かまくらジンギスカン」やソリ滑りが楽しめる巨大滑り台も登場して、カップルや家族で楽しめる冬の風物詩として定着している人気のイベントとなっています。

At the Iwate Snow Festival, festival fireworks by Tomoya Yakitori Industry Co., Ltd. will be held in the last with light ups and stalls of the heavy snow statue using the site of Koiwai Farm Makiba Park. It is held in Shizukuishi-cho, Iwate Prefecture Tohoku Japan in early February 2012.
