Seetharkundu fall
Seetharkundu fall is bordered by paddy fields which can be reached from Palakkad as well. The waterfall is situated in an area which is famous for its organic farms that are engaged in coffee and tea cultivation.

Seetharkundu viewpoint: It is located at a distance of 8 km from Nelliyampathy. According to a myth Lord Rama, Lord Lakshman and Goddess Sita rested here during their exile. The viewpoint offers a scenic view of the town.
Palakkad fort: It was constructed by Hyder Ali in 1766. Palakkad fort is both a religious and a historic site. Thread Garden is another attraction which is located in same vicinity. The garden is famous for its artificial plants and flowers. Palakkad fort is an old granite fort which is located near the centre of Palakkad town. The fort is spread over an area of around 60702 sq km. The fort houses a Hanuman temple, Jainmedu Temple, Kumarapuram Temple, Vadakkanthara Temple, Manapullivaku Temple and a martyr’s column.
Kollengode Palace: It is located at 19 km distance of south east of Palakkad. It is prime attraction of Kollengode town which derives its name from the Kollen blacksmith community who reside here. Kollengode palace represents the architectural style of Kerala which houses a large collection of murals from all over Kerala. There is also a museum here which has preserved artifacts called Veerakalli, temple models and manuscripts on dry palm leaves. Most of the artifacts are recovered from the forests of Thrissur and Wayanad. Other attractions near to Kollengode Palace are Pothundi dam, Chinganchira, Pudugramam Pallkapandi waterfalls and Meenkara Dam.
Nemmara: It is a small village located at a distance of 24.5 km from Nelliyampathy which is divided into two parts namely Nemmara and Vallangi. Nemmara is famous for its Vela festival which is also known as Nemmara-Vallangi Vela Festival and Thrissur Pooram festival which is celebrated after the harvest of rice.
Kottayi: It is a small village which is located at a distance of 15 km from Palakkad in Alathur Taluk. The main landmarks of this destination are Kottumukku and Kottayi High School. The village also hosts the annual Chembai Parthasarathy Ekadasi Music festival during the months of February and March in honor of the renowned Carnatic singer Chembai Vaidyanthanath Bhagavatar who was born here.
Padagiri: It is the tallest peak of Nelliyampathy which is located at a height of around 1500m above sea level. It is also famously known as Nellikota and is counted amongst famous picnic spots around Nelliyampathy.
Sreepadam Kottaram
The Sree Padam Kottaram is one of the oldest palaces inside the East Fort of Thiruvananthapuram. Situated to the North of the temple, the palace has played host to kings and queens who arrived to participate in the temple rituals.

Entering the check post from Nenmara and after Pothundi dam we continued the trip watching many small and big water falls to reach the 2nd view point that is Middle Deck view point to see the magnificient nature views from that location. And also an unbelievable scene and a new information that Elephants can move through the steap mountain areas..

Palakkad lies near a wide low gap or pass in the Western Ghats mountain ranges that separates Kerala from Tamil Nadu. Consequently the city is a major conduit for travel between the two states. Palakkad is 4,480 square kilometres and the population is 2,617,072.
Palakkad is the land of Palmyras and Paddy fields. It is the chief granary of Kerala, often called the Gateway of Kerala. Palakkad lies at the foot of the gigantic Western ghats on the border of Kerala. This city surrounded by mountains, forests and fertile valleys, rivers and mountains streams are rich in flora and fauna.
Palakkad is known for its historical background and the remnants of Tippu Sulthan's Fort are still maintained.
Malayalam is widely spoken language as the rest of Kerala. However Palakkad is close to the Tamil Nadu border and people understand and speak Tamil well. You won't be very far from a person who speaks perfect English or Hindi just in case you need one.

An easy 1 hour drive from Palakkad on the Palakkad-Kozhikode national highway, with a turn off at Chirakalpadi. A very attractive garden too. .
• Kollengode. Beautiful green lands, the great Palace of Kollengode Kovilakam. .
• Hemambika/Emoor Bhagavathi temple and Siva Temple, (Near Olavakkode, 6 km from Palakkad). Bus available every 5 min from Palakkad Town Bus Stand. Board Rly Colony bus and get down at kallekulangara bus stop. .
• Kakkayur Kottamala Ayyappa temple, Kakkayur (15 km from Palakkad). The giant walls of this temple is at least 1 1/2 times taller than an elephant, built of stones unbelievable in size. There are no stone quarry nearby from where this has could have been taken. These stones are laid one on top of another without any sealing in between. They have been standing like that for centuries just on gravity. Also on the walls are writings in some very old language. .
Pothundy
• Pothundy Dam, (On the way to Nelliyampathy, 38 km from Palakkad). It is a reservoir built across Ayalur river as an irrigation project in 1968. It provide water to Nenmara and Ayalur villages. It is in a valley just below the Nelliyampathy Hills. Nemmara Vela. April 2nd/3rd every year. A traditional Indian festival. .
• Chinakathur Pooram. Every March-April. A spectacular festival. .
• Kalpathy Rathotsavam. Celebrtated during mid of November every year. Colourful Temple car festival where all the streets of the village will be lightened and the procession of Ratha's will take place. .
• Kunissery Kummatti. In March/April every year (on Punartham of Meenam). A traditional Indian festival. .
• Alampallam Radhotsavam. April. The biggest Chariot in Kerala. .
• Chittur Konganpada. Usually in March. The celebrations commemorate the victory of the Chittur Nairs over the militia of nearby Konganadu during 918 AD. It is said that there was constant fight in the Palakkad region between the Kerala kingdoms on the western side and the princely state of Konganad on the eastern side of the Western Ghat mountains. On the third day of the Konganpada festival 101 rounds of the kathina vedi (ironpipe crackers) commemorates the historic victory. Later, there is a kolam procession of little boys dressed as girls carried on the shoulders of men. At night men engage in mock fights wearing buffalo head masks to symbolise the dead buffaloes of the Konganpada (Kongan militia). .
• Puthur Vela, Puthur. Puthur Vela is a annual temple festival in Palakkad. A 10 day music and dance programme with intenational artists precedes this festival .

Munnar is a town in the Western Ghats mountain range in India’s Kerala state. A hill station and former resort for the British Raj elite, it's surrounded by rolling hills dotted with tea plantations established in the late 19th century. Eravikulam National Park, a habitat for the endangered mountain goat Nilgiri tahr, is home to the Lakkam Waterfalls, hiking trails and 2,695m-tall Anamudi Peak.
Alappuzha
Alappuzha (or Alleppey) is a city on the Laccadive Sea in the southern Indian state of Kerala. It's best known for houseboat cruises along the rustic Kerala backwaters, a network of tranquil canals and lagoons. Alappuzha Beach is the site of the 19th-century Alappuzha Lighthouse. The city's Mullakkal Temple features a traditional design. Punnamada Lake's snake boat races are a well-known annual event.
Kochi
Kochi (also known as Cochin) is a city in southwest India's coastal Kerala state. It has been a port since 1341, when a flood carved out its harbor and opened it to Arab, Chinese and European merchants. Sites reflecting those influences include Fort Kochi, a settlement with tiled colonial bungalows and diverse houses of worship. Cantilevered Chinese fishing nets, typical of Kochi, have been in use for centuries.
Thekkady
Thekkady is the location of the Periyar National Park, which is an important tourist attraction in the Kerala state of India.
Varkala Beach, also known as Papanasham Beach is a beach in Varkala municipality of Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, India, along the Arabian Sea, part of the Indian Ocean. The word Papanasham means wash away sins. It is believed that a dip in the waters of Papanasham Beach washes away all the sins in one's life.
Kovalam is a beach town by the Arabian Sea in Thiruvananthapuram metropolitan area in Kerala, India, located around 18 km south of the city center.
Poovar is a tourist town in Neyyattinkara in the Thiruvananthapuram district of Kerala state, South India. This village is almost at the southern tip of Thiruvananthapuram while the next village, Pozhiyoor, marks the end of Kerala. This village beach attracts tourists.
Kumarakom is a village on Vembanad Lake in the backwaters of Kerala, southern India. It’s laced with canals, where houseboats ply the waters. The Sabarimala temple is a temple complex located at Sabarimala inside the Periyar Tiger Reserve in Pathanamthitta district, Kerala, India. It is the site of the largest annual pilgrimage in the world with an estimate of between 17 million and 50 million devotees visiting every year.
Bekal is a coastal town in the southwestern Indian state of Kerala. It’s known for 17th-century Bekal Fort, built in the shape of a keyhole, which has red-brick towers overlooking the Arabian Sea. Adjoining the fort is Mukhyaprana Temple, dedicated to the Hindu monkey god, Hanuman. Sandy Bekal Beach stretches southwards. North of the town, peaceful Kappil Beach adjoins the backwaters of the Kappil River.
Thrissur is a city in the south Indian state of Kerala. It's known for sacred sites and colorful festivals. In the center is Vadakkumnathan Temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva and adorned with murals. The ornate, Indo-Gothic Our Lady of Dolours Basilica is nearby. To the north, Thiruvambady Temple is home to several elephants. Sakthan Thampuran Palace houses an archaeology museum with bronze statues and ancient coins.
Thiruvananthapuram (or Trivandrum) is the capital of the southern Indian state of Kerala. It's distinguished by its British colonial architecture and many art galleries. It’s also home to Kuthira Malika (or Puthen Malika) Palace, adorned with carved horses and displaying collections related to the Travancore royal family, whose regional capital was here from the 18th–20th centuries.
Nelliampathy is surrounded by tea and coffee plantations. The village has its own gram panchayat and forms a part of the Chittur taluk. Pothundi Dam, which was constructed in the 19th century, is the entrance to Nelliyampathy.The road to it, which goes through the dense forests of the Western Ghats, is known for its many hairpin turns. To the west is Kesavan Para, a vantage point with views of nearby tea plantations. Farther west is the 19th-century Pothundi Dam. Northeast is the Seetharkundu Viewpoint, with waterfalls nearby.
Ponmudi is a hill station in the Thiruvananthapuram District of Kerala in India. It is located 55.2 km north-east of Trivandrum City at an altitude of 1100 m. Ponmudi peak is a part of the Western Ghats mountain range that runs parallel to the Arabian Sea.

Siruvani dam is a dam in Palakkad District, Kerala located 46 km away from Palakkad town. This dam constructed across the Siruvani River, is for supplying drinking water to the city of Coimbatore in Tamil Nadu. The dam is surrounded by reserve forests. Muthikulam hill is situated on the eastern side of the dam. There is a natural waterfall in the hill. The waterfalls and the Dam are big tourist attractions. The famous 150 year old Pattiyar Bungalow is on the banks of the Siruvani Reservoir. An agreement was executed in August 1973 between the state Governments for drinking water supply to Coimbatore town and neighbouring areas from the Siruvani Dam. The location being in the state of Kerala, the project was executed by the Kerala Public Works Department utilising the funds made available by the Tamil Nadu Government.
