Komyo - ji Temple was first built in 1198 at a spot closely connected to Honenshonin, by Kumagawa Naozane, a disciple of Honenshonin. Komyo - ji is the main temple of the Seizan-Jodo Sect. If you climb the gentle-sloped stone stairway, situated amidst a maple forest, you can see the majestic Mikagedo Hall and Amidado Hall connected by a pathway. Famous as a temple for viewing autumn leaves, both sides of the stone stairway are coloured a brilliant red during late autumn.

This was a day trip to Nara that I took from Kyoto, took about 1 hour using the JR train. The weather was really bad today, it was raining, and I had to hold the umbrella on one hand, and record on the other. I wish I had a rain jacket. But even the rain couldn't stop people from visiting this magnificent area. Nara was Japan's first capital, and 2010 was it's 1300 year anniversary.

To mark the end of Golden week a matsuri is held at Otsukayama koen. Children carry an omikoshi around which contains, they believe, a kami - an elemental and unseen spirit force that resides in a little wooden house (jinja) at the edge of the koen. During the matsuri the kami is asked (somehow) to ride around in the omikoshi while the children carry it and jostle it around. After that the kami goes back to residing in his little jinja awaiting people to come by and ask for prayers to be answered and until the next matsuri.

2011年 平塚市金目 御嶽神社例大祭 夜宮 浅田材木店
2011年10月9日 御嶽神社のお祭りです。
平塚市の西端に位置する旧金目小学校跡に御嶽神社があります。
毎年南金目神社の例大祭に合わせて行っています。

金目観音の桜 金目山光明寺（坂東第七番札所）平塚市南金目
「金目観音」前の金目川周辺は四季を通じてのどかで美しい風景が広がります。
桜は、春は桜と菜の花、秋は紅葉と、季節を彩ります。5月には自治会による「こいのぼり」が金目川に渡されます。
この辺りを含む「金目川土手」は市の桜の名所のひとつになっています。
今年は他の地域よりも満開が数日程度遅れましたが、例年は不明です。ただ「光明寺」内は塀に囲まれているため多少の風には強く、はらはらと散る花びらが長く楽しめる傾向にあり、紅葉も同様に他が風雨で散ってしまっても境内では傷まず楽しめる状態で残っている事が有ります。
坂東三十三ヶ所は関東に有る33ヶ所の観音霊場。源頼朝の発願で札所が制定されました。
八月九日の「四万八千縁日」は盆踊りや露店、神輿で一番の賑わいを見せます。

Mangan-ji temple is located in the outskirts of the Tochigi City in Tochigi Prefecture in Japan.
Manga-ji temple is a perfect example of some of the temples that are built in Japan hundreds of years ago, but still withstand today, in spite of earthquakes and fires. The temple's main worship hall (Hondo) withstood the great Japan earth quake of March 2011.
The main deity worshiped in this temple is called Izuru Kannon. This temple is one of the 33 Kannon temples of the Bando (Kanto region) Kannon pilgrimage circuit.
