Manta Dive with the Kona Diving Company
Thank You Betsy at Tangerine Travel for organizing the travel arrangements for my sister-in-law's wedding! The wedding was great and we had an excellent time in Kona.
I wanted to share one of the highlights of our trip with you and Tangerine Travel. This video is of our family Night Dive with the Manta Rays. This is a MUST DO when visiting Kona. We went with The Kona Diving Company who took great care of us.
Thanks again for all your help!

The Basic Travel Couple journey began in 2015 at a local Buffalo, NY Establishment in the heart of the Elmwood Village. A few moments after first setting eyes on one another, a very fiery debate began over (what else) traveling and who was the better wedding date (Still to be determined…lol).
2 weeks later we embarked on our first trip and second date to Chicago for a friend's wedding (Using Travel Points). While visiting the Beantown we quickly recognized that each of us shared a burning desire to explore the world with an emphasis on saving money through Basic Traveling. Since that moment; our love for travel has grown and we have been blessed to visit Key West, Costa Rica, Thailand, Jamaica, Iceland, Finland, Hawaii, Egypt, Greece and dozens of cities throughout the United States all through Basic Traveling.
When traveling, our passion goes far above a typical beach day, although those are certainly necessary! Our emphasis when planning a trip is on including the right amount of adventure and excitement with plenty of time to rest and relax. We spend weeks (sometimes months) narrowing down our travel plans and the activities we want to embark on. Since we both work full time, we typically have a limited time frame during each of these Basic Travel Trips and attempt to fit as much fun in as we can to maximize our experience.
We thoroughly enjoy helping our friends and family go on amazing trips and create long-lasting memories for next to nothing using Basic Traveling. If you are someone that wants to Jump Out of a Plane in Hawaii, Sleep in a Glass Igloo in Finland, or go on a $4,782 4-night trip at an All-Inclusive resort in Jamaica for $280 then you are in the right place. Places to see in ( Kailua-Kona - USA )
Places to see in ( Kailua-Kona - USA )
Kailua-Kona is a town on the west coast of Hawaii Island (the Big Island). Hulihee Palace is a former royal vacation home dating from 1838. Mokuaikaua Church, from the 1800s, is Hawaii’s oldest Christian church. On Kailua Bay, reconstructed thatched houses at Kamakahonu National Historic Landmark mark King Kamehameha I’s residence. Colorful coral lies off Kamakahonu Beach. Kailua Pier has boat moorings.
Kailua Kona, often referred to as Kona by the locals, is the main western city, population 34,000 (2012), of the Big Island of Hawaii. It is nestled on the western coast of the Hualalai Volcano. In ancient times, this area was considered the premier place to live due to the excellent weather and good water. Many kings made their homes here. It was the home of King Kamehameha I, who united the Hawaiian Islands. It was also here in Kailua-Kona that Kamehameha's son, King Liholiho, broke and officially abolished the ancient kapu system. Later, missionaries built churches and residences and planted coffee, turning the tiny fishing village into a small seaport. Now Kona has become known for sport fishing, snorkeling, sunsets and coffee, which is cultivated on the slopes of Mount Hualalai. Because the mountains block the northeasterly trade winds, Kona gets very little rain and enjoys more than 300 days of sunshine a year. Kona is also home to the Hawaiian International Billfish Tournament (August) and the Ironman Triathlon World Championship (October).
Traffic was pretty minor before, but in recent years has become more congested. Driving in tourist-oriented areas can be slow, but the town is generally not large enough to have serious problems. Walking is a manageable way to explore the town, but you should rent a car if you want to get to resorts, beaches and other cultural locations. Some free parking is available: When you enter Kailua via Palani Road (Hwy. 190), turn left onto Kuakini Highway, drive for about a block, and turn right into a parking lot marked with a green P sign. From there, go down some steps and walk makai (toward the ocean) on Likana Lane a half block to Ali`i Drive, and you'll be in the heart of Kailua-Kona.
Street addresses are confusing and consist of two parts. Hawaii Island is divided into nine zones, each of which are subdivided into nine sections. The first two digits of an address, before the hyphen, indicate the zone and its section. For example, Kailua-Kona is 75, Waikoloa 68, Captain Cook 81 and Hawi 55. The numbers following the hyphen are based on the distance from a predetermined starting point — usually a road intersection or a highway. The numbers run consecutively, with odd numbers on the left and even numbers on the right as you head away from the starting point. For example, addresses on Ali`i Drive increase as you head south, with even numbers on the ocean side of the Drive.
Kailua-Kona is a place for ocean and outdoor recreational activities. Surfing, fishing, diving, boating, snorkeling and swimming are all popular sports in Kailua-Kona, as are hiking, biking, caving, and four wheeling. In August, there is the Hawaiian International Billfish Tournament; in October, the Ironman Triathlon World Championship.

Along the lava-lined west coast of Hawaii you will find the Kona district, home to historic landmarks, tranquil beaches, coffee farms, friendly villages and much more. Many kings built their homes here in ancient times, as the idyllic weather made it the premier place to live.
There are so many things to do in Kona, Hawaii that the hardest part of your vacation will be choosing which fun excursion to enjoy first. Since it is shielded from winds by the volcano Maunaloa, the waters in south Kona are calm and clear – ideal for spotting dolphins as well as snorkeling, diving and swimming. This region is also known for its deep-sea fishing, kayaking, hiking and biking excursions – plus its tranquil yoga retreats are especially popular.
Also, don’t forget to taste the rich flavors of a cup of 100% Kona coffee, made from beans grown on the cool upland slopes.
This video gives you a closer look at a few of the many fantastic experiences that Kona, Hawaii has to offer.

Kona Hawaii Scuba Diving 2013
This video is about Kona Hawaii Scuba Diving December 18-19th, 2013. This is my first time doing underwater video and editing (13 years old). Shot with a GoPro Hero 3+ Silver Edition.
I took this footage while doing the underwater video certification with Jack's Diving Locker. If you are ever in Hawaii and want to scuba dive, I would highly recommend going to Jack's Diving Locker. Their staff are extremely friendly and helpful.
Thank you so much for watching, hope you enjoyed God's creation with me!

Though the landscape is not very colourful, the tropical sea-life make up for it. There is not to much to see in these super clear waters, but at the right time of the year you can hear the magical sounds of passing whales and their calves communicating to each other. Listen out for them in this video.
Both this spot and Old Airport are typical pre-dives of the night Manta Ray dive, which I highly recommend.

Kona Coast Manta Ray Night Dive
This footage of a night dive that I did with Kona Honu Divers.
11 mantas in total showed up.
This was probably the best dive of my life so far!
The torches attract plankton to a certain area, so the mantas come and feed there.
They feed nightly all up and down the Kona Coast of Hawai'i's Big Island, the lights just bring them to one spot.
These dives were started by the Pacific Manta Research Foundation
This DOES NOT adversely affect their behaviour.

Epic Bluewater Whale Shark Encounter off the Kona Coast, HI --- Raw Footage Pt 1
A boatload of very lucky divers got a rare chance to swim with a very friendly (and large!) Whale Shark (Rhincodon typus) while enjoying a long-range South Kona dive charter with Kona Diving Company. Your humble host decides to shut up and let this magnificent fish speak for itself.
Raw Footage -- Was not intending to shoot video that day an only had a dome port equipped GoPro at hand, so there are some underwater focus issues, but it was certainly better than not getting the shot at all!
