Der schönste Strand Japans auf der Insel Hateruma stand heute auf meiner Reiseliste. Mit meiner DJI Spark und meiner Schnorchelausrüstung fuhr ich mit der Fähre vom Ishigaki Port los (hin und zurück ca. 6000 Yen/60 Min.). Leider konnte ich keine Schildkröte finden, aber es war trotzdem ein herrlicher Ausflug und ein unvergesslicher Ort.
Den nächsten Tag startete ich auf Ishigaki mit dem Bus (720 Yen/ca. 40 Min.), um einen weiteren berühmten Strand Japans aufzusuchen: Kabira Bay. Hier ist es jedoch verboten zu schwimmen, da die Strömung zu stark ist. Aber eine wunderschöne Aussicht hat man auf jeden Fall.

Hi everyone! It's been a while, but finally, after a lot of love and care having gone into the edit - here is my day on the beautiful island of Taketomi-jima, Okinawa!
It was a humbling, disorienting, bizarre and unforgettable experience where I made a travel dream come true, after simply being inspired by another YouTube video to visit this little gem of the Far East. The otherworldly Kondoi Beach is like nowhere else I've ever seen on the planet.
If you're looking for an escape from modern civilisation and wish to see a slice of Japan preserved from the days of old rural traditions, I cannot recommend Taketomi-jima enough.

Taketomi Island (one of the Yaeyama Islands) is only 10 minutes away from Ishigaki and only cost 600 yen each way by boat. You can easily bike the whole island or walk (if you have time). We decided to walk which is very possible as Taketomi Island is actually very small!
Visiting Nishi Pier and swimming at Kondoi Beach is a MUST! I had an amazing time walking and swimming through the emerald green water! Kondoi Beach is now one of my favorite beaches in Okinawa and I hope it will soon be yours too!

Taketomi Island (竹富島 Taketomi-jima, Yaeyama: Teedun Okinawan: Dakidun) is an island in the Yaeyama District of Okinawa Prefecture, Japan. Taketomi is one of the Yaeyama Islands. The population of Taketomi Island was 323 as of January 2012.
Taketomi Island is located 4 kilometres (2.5 mi) south of Ishigaki Island. The island has a village in the center, also named Taketomi. The island covers 5.42 square kilometres (2.09 sq mi), and runs 2.7 kilometres (1.7 mi) east to west and 3.4 kilometres (2.1 mi) north to south.[3] Taketomi is a raised coral atoll. The island is circular in shape, and is surrounded by coral reefs. Taketomi Island is part of Iriomote-Ishigaki National Park, established in 1972.
Taketomi is known for its traditional Okinawan houses, stone walls, and sandy streets, making it popular with tourists. Various rules are in place to prevent the more aesthetically displeasing aspects of modern construction from ruining the beauty of the island, such as replacing hand-packed stone with concrete walls. Popular tourist activities include relaxing at the beach, snorkeling, taking an ox-cart ride through the village, and simply walking or biking around the island while enjoying the quaintness of the village and the natural scenery.
It is recognized by academics that Taketomi's traditional landscape is a modern product. Today Taketomi's houses are known for visually appealing red-tiled roofs. However, commoners were prohibited from building houses with roof tiles by Ryūkyū on Okinawa until its abolishment. The red-roofed house first appeared on Taketomi Island in 1905 and remained a symbol of wealth for decades. As late as in 1964, truly traditional thatched houses accounted for 40% of Taketomi's houses. Red-tiled roofs spread in parallel with the conservation movement.
Taketomi Island is accessible by a ten-minute boat ride from Ishigaki Island. All areas of the island are within walking distance. There are also various places to rent bicycles in the village.
