GRAHAM CRACKERS VLOG #12: June 12th 2012 - Koorie Heritage Trust
Hello everyone!
Today I went to the Koorie Heritage Trust ( and had a great time. My wonderful tour guide Lenny took me around telling me all about the Aboriginal tribes located here in Victoria (the state that Melbourne is located in.) I got to wear a possum cloak and hold a real boomerang!
I then checked out the King's Domain Aboriginal Burial Stone. It was an important memorial, remembering the forced location endured by the 38 Indigenous tribes here in Victoria. (
I also took some beautiful videos of Melbourne.
Enjoy!

Jack Charles talks about Coranderrk
Jack Charles talks about his involvement in Coranderrk: We Will Show the Country, in which he plays the role of William Barak, November 2011.
For more information about this production go to:
VICTORIA, 1881: the men and women of the 'Coranderrk Aboriginal Reserve' take on the Board for the Protection of Aborigines in a fight for justice, dignity and self-determination. For the first time, we bring back to life Coranderrk's voices -- both black and white -- through a theatrical re-enactment of their official testimonies before the 1881 Government Inquiry into Coranderrk.
CORANDERRK: We Will Show the Country unites the power of oral history and the authority of the written-word to forge a personal connection with the voices of the past; allowing key figures such as William Barak and several of the men and women of Coranderrk to speak directly to a contemporary audience.
Not a story of black vs white, CORANDERRK pays tribute to the resilience and adaptability of a people who rose to the challenge despite all odds, appropriating the power of the written word and white political discourse to make their voice loud and clear; whilst also celebrating the spirit of friendship, and the power of genuine collaboration, between Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal people.
Performers: Syd Brisbane, Uncle Jack Charles, Jim Daly, Peter Finlay, Greg Fryer, Liz Jones, Tom Long, Melodie Reynolds and Glenn Shea.

CORANDERRK lies at the heart of the Minutes of Evidence Project, a collaboration between leading Indigenous and non-Indigenous artists, researchers, education experts and Community members, which aims to encourage a shared understanding of the past between Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal people, by bringing the history and stories of CORANDERRK to high-school students, teachers and researchers, as well as to the general public.
Supported by the Australian Research Council, The Minutes of Evidence Project is a partnership between ILBIJERRI Theatre Company, La Mama Theatre, The University of Melbourne, The Koorie Heritage Trust, VicHealth's Arts About Us program, The Department of Education, Arts Victoria, Regional Arts Victoria, The State Library of Victoria, and the Victorian Aboriginal Education Association Inc (VAEAI).

MELBOURNE: THE CHRISTMAS TREE and its DANCING BAUBLES at FEDERATION SQUARE (AUSTRALIA) ????????
TO SUBSCRIBE: - Let's visit the cosmopolitan city of Melbourne in Victoria, Australia and let's go to Federation Square, the centre of the city. It is Christmas time and the Christmas tree is all beautifully decorated with a variety of colourful baubles that dance in the light breeze late in the afternoon.
Federation Square is a venue for arts, culture and public events on the edge of the Melbourne central business district. It covers an area of 3.2 ha (7.9 acres) at the intersection of Flinders and Swanston Streets built above busy railway lines and across the road from Flinders Street station. It incorporates major cultural institutions such as the Ian Potter Centre, ACMI and the Koorie Heritage Trust as well as cafes and bars in a series of buildings centred around a large paved square, and a glass walled atrium.
Melbourne is the coastal capital of the southeastern Australian state of Victoria. At the city's centre is the modern Federation Square development, with plazas, bars, and restaurants by the Yarra River. In the Southbank area, the Melbourne Arts Precinct is the site of Arts Centre Melbourne – a performing arts complex – and the National Gallery of Victoria, with Australian and indigenous art.
Australia, officially the Commonwealth of Australia, is a sovereign country comprising the mainland of the Australian continent, the island of Tasmania, and numerous smaller islands. It is the largest country in Oceania and the world's sixth-largest country by total area.
