WESTERN STEELE web series STORYHIVE PITCH VIDEO
-WESTERN STEELE-
a DEADWOOD quality production
set in the CANADIAN WILD WEST
(without the cussin')
a web series concept by Ryan Mennie
John George “Kootenai” Brown is Canada's Seth Bullock. He was a lawman, miner, witness and participant to gunfights, shot with arrows, mail man through hostile territory, one of the first to discover oil in BC, and creator and protector of what would later become Alberta's Waterton Lakes National Park. This is the story of his adventures through Canada's untamed West and the other characters who have now become a part of our country's wild history.
-Envisioned as a 5 part webisode series
(each approx. 10 mins in length)
-Based on historical figures from the late 1800s in Southern Alberta and BC
(in the style of the HBO series Deadwood but without the cussin')
-A dramatic series set in the almost lawless towns and wilderness
of Western Canada of the time featuring locations like
Fort Steele, Waterton Lakes and Fort Macleod.
-An entertaining series also useful as a promotional tool
for regional tourism offices (focusing on local history and showcasing attractions from the period such as Kootenai Brown Pioneer Village in Pincher Creek, AB and Fort Steele in Cranbrook, BC)
The first script, all ready to go, features gunfights, a mutinous uprising, and glorious black gold.
If you didn't like history in school, they weren't telling the story right!
Thanks in advance for your support,

WESTERN STEELE NON PROFIT PROMO
Along with the entertaining and educational history in each script of the web series Western Steele, the program will also be used to promote and support several non profit societies and attractions in the communities we'll be shooting the series, through the Western Steele facebook and twitter feeds.
The non profits we'll be showcasing include the Pincher Creek and District Historical Society at Kootenai Brown Pioneer Village, one of the best kept tourist destination secrets in Southern Alberta, and The Friends Of Fort Steele near Cranbrook, BC.
As a hub for tourism, Kootenai Brown Pioneer Village is home to the visitor information centre, Gift Shop, and a Western Canadian frontier village with 26 heritage cabins and two museum buildings filled with artifacts. The Kootenai Brown Pioneer Village was established in 1966, and was intended to preserve the area's vibrant pioneer heritage. In fact, author of The Cowboy Calvary - The Story of The Rocky Mountain Rangers (which included Kootenai Brown) and our project's historical advisor Gord Tolton is a guide at the village.
The Friends of Fort Steele Society manages the Fort under a long-term contract with the Province of British Columbia. The Friends are striving to build a sustainable future for Fort Steele by continuing conservation initiatives, building community partnerships, developing a sustainable funding model, and providing visitors with a memorable day in the life experience of Fort Steele in its heyday.
You can even become a member of the Friends of Fort Steele Society by calling 250-417-6000 or visit us to sign up today!
Vote for Western Steele at storyhive.com beginning Sept. 18th!
