Experience our beauty on the water, or on the land. Come find awesome in our region.
“What if I told you the fountain of youth wasn’t a fountain? It was a place, a place still ruled by giants. And inhabited by mystical creatures. A place where you could still look up in awe. A place where it’s not only okay to feel small, it’s highly encouraged. What if I could tell you where to find it.”

Recovery of crashed plane in Kootenay Lake - TMTV
Ex-MLA, pilot survive plane crash - TMTV Nelson BC Canada - unedited raw footage - May 24, 2010 (Produced by TMTV, All rights reserved - copyright 2010 TMTV)
A former B.C. MLA and the pilot of a small plane survived without injury when they crashed into Kootenay Lake Monday.
Blair Suffredine, who as a Liberal represented Nelson-Creston from 2001 to 2005, and pilot Wade Nearing were flying back to Nelson from a day trip to Creston when their Bonanza aircraft went down.
Suffredine, a student pilot, said the engine failed. All we know is, all of a sudden there was smoke and oil all over the window, he said.
All we can tell is something that pumps oil broke lose in the engine and threw it and that turned into smoke and it got real exciting.
He said the pilot's only option was to bring the plane down in the lake, because it had retractable landing gear.
That was one of the things that saved us, said Suffredine, who returned to legal practice after the 2005 election and represented polygamist Winston Blackmore during the B.C. government's case.
The men climbed onto the wings of the plane as it slowly sank in shallow water. Two pleasure boats rescued them.

Canalien #1 (Heli in Nelson, BC)
Why did you submit this video?
I've done some pretty incredible things in my life, but never have I fit so many awesome things into such a small time frame. Within 24 hours, I hucked my first backflip on a snowboard, rode in a Helicopter for my first time (and was let off at the top of a mountain where I was forced to find my own way down!), experienced an insane New Years celebration and jumped/polar-dipped into zero degree water in the Kootenay River! Best end to 2015 and best beginning to 2016!! I wanted to show people my adventures!
How did traveling impact you?
I pushed myself to try new things and became a better version of myself! I also spent quality time with family and friends, relaxed, ate good meals, and indulged in pleasurable experiences. Travel gives you a break from the boredom of routine and the stress of responsibility. Travel allows you to do the things that keep you young!
Why should other people send in their videos?
It's good to share your experiences with other people. Your video could inspire someone to be more ambitious, daring or fun. Overcoming fears and limitations is how people progress in life, and sometimes a friend's advice, personal anecdote or confidence is all it takes to successfully overcome a challenge. At the very least send in your video to entertain people during the nine to five grind and help fight the work week blues!!
Be Here | Whitewater Ski Resort x Nelson Kootenay Lake
Text messages, emails, phone calls, Netflix. We're more tethered to technology than ever - but are we connecting with what truly matters? This winter, it's time to unplug and reconnect. Because these days, these moments, you can't feel them through your phone.
So get ready to set your watch to Kootenay Time and come experience Whitewater, a quietly legendary for its world-class snow, tree runs, backcountry access, and genuine skiing experience. The white stuff will be flying soon enough, and with an annual average of 14 metres (40 feet) of coldsmoke powder, short lift lines, and over 1300 acres of inbound terrain just waiting to be explored, well, trust us: you're going to want to be here.
See you on the slopes December 6th. #BeHere
