Radium Hot Springs, B.C. - Drive Thru
Driving through Radium Hot Spring , B.C. 2015. The road right before coming into Radium on the north side is impressive, combination of curves, hills, scenery. Have not spent too much time here but watched it grow since as long as I can remember as it is on the way to our vacation spot. Nice view of the Columbia valley by the lookout on the corner of town or the pull outs on the south side as you climb out of Radium.
Radium Hot Springs, informally and commonly called Radium, is a village of 776 residents situated in the East Kootenay region of British Columbia. The village is named for the hot springs located in the nearby Kootenay National Park. From Banff, Alberta, it is accessible via Highway 93.
The hot springs were named after the radioactive element when an analysis of the water showed that it contained small traces of radon which is a decay product of radium.[3] The radiation dosage from bathing in the pools is inconsequential; approximately 0.13 millirems (1.3 μSv) from the water for a half-hour bathing, around ten times average background levels. The air concentration of radon is about 23 picocuries (0.85 Bq) per litre which is higher than the level (4 picocuries per litre) at which mitigation is necessary at residences; but is also inconsequential (about 0.7 mrem or 7.0 μSv for a half-hour bathing) from a dose impact perspective.

RIDING THE REAR DOME VIA CANADIAN WEST
Take a 20 minute ride in the rear dome of VIA Rail The Canadian, between Jasper Alberta and Kamloops BC.
Our train had 4 domes and we departed Jasper on May 3rd, 2009.
During the trip, just a little of rain was encountered and we took the hole for meets with 3 eastbound freights.
Otherwise, the train snakes around curves in the Canadian Rockies quite nicely.
The video was shot from from the front seat of the dome with a Canon S5IS camera.

Westside Road - Fairmont Hot Springs to Invermere, BC - Dashcam Timelapse
Summer of 2018, Westside Road between Fairmont Hot Springs and Invermere, BC. I like to take this road when I travel to the Valley.
Fairmont Hot Springs is an unincorporated resort community located in south-eastern British Columbia, Canada. The community has a population of 476, but receives frequent tourists from Calgary. The local Fairmont Hot Springs Resort is centered around a soak pool and swimming pool fed by natural mineral hot springs, billing them as Canada's largest natural mineral hot springs. The original springs building, surrounded by hot spring water seeping out of the ground, still stands.
The community contains three golf courses: Mountainside and Riverside are 18-hole courses, while Creekside is a family-oriented 9-hole par 3. In the winter, the area is also home to a small downhill ski area, with 3 lifts(1 double chair and 2 surface lifts), 13 runs and a tube park, as well as numerous cross-country trails. Fairmont Hot Springs Resort and all three golf courses were purchased by Ontario-based Ken Fowler Enterprises (KFE) in 2006 and 2007.
Fairmont Hot Springs has a strip mall including Mountainside Market, Rockies Pizzeria, Fairmont Village Gift Shop, and a Greek restaurant: Tony's Greek Grill and Juice Bar. Fairmont Hot Springs is home to the hoodoos, which are sandstone cliffs with hiking trails. Fairmont provides the only road access to Columbia Lake Provincial Park, five kilometers south.
On July 15, 2012, Fairmont Hot Springs was hit by a mudslide. A small creek that runs throughout Fairmont formed a natural dam and backup water built up. Several homes were evacuated along with Mountainside Golf Course and many people were airlifted to safety. No injuries occurred but the resort suffered for several weeks as Mountainside Golf Course and the Fairmont Hot Springs Lodge were closed. The businesses have since reopened.
Invermere is a community in eastern British Columbia, Canada, near the border of Alberta. It is the hub of the Columbia Valley between Golden to the north and Cranbrook to the south. Invermere sits on the northwest shore of Windermere Lake and is a popular summer destination for visitors and second home owners from Calgary.
Invermere is located 14 kilometres (8.7 mi) south of Radium, and 104 kilometres (65 mi) south of Golden and 102 kilometres (63 mi) from the Trans-Canada Highway. Invermere is also 37 kilometres (23 mi) north of Fairmont Hot Springs, 60 kilometres (37 mi) north of Canal Flats, 128 kilometres (80 mi) north of Fort Steele, 130 kilometres (81 mi) north of Kimberley, and 144 kilometres (89 mi) north of the hub of Cranbrook and the Crowsnest Highway. Invermere is situated within the Columbia River Wetlands, North America's largest intact wetland and a Ramsar-designated site. Located in the Rocky Mountain Trench, Invermere is 17.5 kilometres (10.9 mi) from Kootenay National Park, and is near the Purcell Wilderness Conservancy.
