Kopački Rit nature park, Croatia
Kopački rit nature park, Croatia, walk true the beautifull nature, and lake Sakadaš, summer 2017
Kopački Rit is a nature park in eastern Croatia in municipalities of Bilje and Kneževi Vinogradi. It is located northwest of the confluence of the Drava and the Danube, situated at the border with Serbia. It is one of the most important, largest and most attractive preserved intact wetlands in Europe.
Around 260 various bird species nest here (wild geese and ducks, great white egret, white stork, black stork, white-tailed eagle, crows, coots, gulls, terns, kingfishers, European green woodpecker, etc.), and there are many other species using this area as a temporary shelter on migration from the northern, cooler regions to the southern, warmer areas and vice versa.
There are 40-odd fish species (pike, ide, tench, bream, carp, catfish, pike-perch, perch, etc.). Several various mammal species inhabit the land (red deer, roe deer, wild boar, wild cat, pine marten, stone marten, weasel, sable, otter, etc.). Daily passes can be purchased at the visitors center.
Kopački Rit also has over 140 recorded species of plant—some of which are very rare and only found in a few places in Croatia.
The proximity of the big city of Osijek and its surroundings, as well as excellent communications (by road, railway, plane and ship) enable a high visiting rate. The beauty of intact nature, the multitude of waters, flora and fauna attract not only excursionists and visitors but also many experts and scientists from the whole of Europe.

More about Kopački rit:
Oglašavanje smještaja:
Kopački rit Nature Park is situated in the northeastern part of the Republic of Croatia, i.e. on the wider geographical area of eastern Croatia. Geographically speaking, Kopački rit is the flat part of Baranja, belonging to Osječko-baranja County, mainly lowland situated between the Drava and Danube rivers and the state border with the Republic of Hungary. It stretches from the northern part of the Drava where the mouth of the Drava flows into the Danube and upstream on the left and right banks of the Danube towards the former Kazuk port. The state border towards the Republic of Serbia designated the Nature Park's eastern border.
Kopački rit is a floodplain that developed due to the activities of two large rivers, the Danube and the Drava. Significant flood areas exist in the northern, southern and western surrounding parts of the Nature park that stretch from Batina up north, to Bijelo Brdo down south and Donji Miholjac towards west. Geographically speaking, Kopački rit covers the area between the 45° 32' - 45° 47' northern geographical latitude and 18° 45' - 18° 59' eastern geographical longitude. The altitudes of Baranja do not exceed 250 m, and the Nature Park is at the lowest altitude starting from only 78 m above sea level (the bottom of Kopačko Lake) to 86 m above sea level.
Bilje, Kopačevo, Vardarac, Lug, Grabovac, Kneževi Vinogradi, Suza, Zmajevac, Batina and Zlatna Greda settlements are all situated in the western and northern surrounding areas of the Nature Park on the margin of the former floodplain. Bilje has become a transitionally stronger urban settlement while the other settlements have remained rural.
Osijek is situated on the right riverbank of the Drava, southwest of the Nature Park as a macro regional center of eastern Croatia, while Podravlje is its suburban settlement on the left riverbank of the Drava. Nemetin, Sarvaš, Bijelo Brdo and Aljmaš settlements are on the south and southeastern side only 5,0 km air distance from the Nature Park.
Kopački rit has a typical relief structure because of the river's water activity and the floodwaters that flood the area. Rivers create banks and islands called ade and armbands called 'dunavac' or 'old Drava' in their live streams. On the other hand, the water in the floodplain deposits sediments in one place but deepens the ground in another, so the whole area obtains a specific undulate appearance. That is how ponds (depressions) and beams (higher grounds) were created and stretch hundreds of meters next to one another. Ponds and beams are narrow and long and have a specific curved appearance from the sky. The altitude difference between ponds and beams is 8 m. max. The ponds meet by the ends through a natural channel or so-called 'fok' and enter Dunavac or the Danube. The beams fill and empty the ponds. Foks were artificially deepened and the trenched canals took over the foks function.

Bilje is a center of the municipality, 3 km north of Osijek and one of the oldest settlements in Baranja, whose history dates back to the Roman times. Besides agriculture, which dominated as the main activity, in recent times, the development of tourism is associated with Kopački rit. Bilje was recognized by many as a very pleasant place to live because it is away from the city noise but close enough to the city of Osijek. The settlement developed rapidly.

Our next recommendation is visiting The Castle of Prince Eugen of Savoy One look at this amazing architecture and you will fall in love.
It is speculated that the castle was a work of the Austrian architect Johann Lucas von Hildebrandt (1668th-1745th), which has built the famous Belvedere Palace in Vienna for Prince Eugene of Savoy.
Don't forget to visit Tikveš Castle neither.

Kopački rit i dvorac Tikveš - Titov dvorac (travanj 2019.)
Poslije Drugog svjetskog rata u dvorac je dolazio tadašnji jugoslavenski predsjednik Josip Broz Tito, ugošćujući u njemu svjetske državnike i vodio ih u lov.

Osijek - City on the Drava River was named after the word oseka which means „low tide“. It's the fourth biggest city in Croatia with a population of about 100,000 and the cultural, economic and academic center of Slavonia and Baranja region. Osijek is located at only 20 kilometers from the confluence of the Drava and the Danube. In this part of the European Podunavlje (Danube region) Croatian and old Austro-Hungarian heritage meet and you will first notice that in the architecture and rich traditions and gastronomy.

The church is entered via a small door to the right of the main portal, overlooked by a trio of gargoyles. The interior is a treasure trove of neo-Gothic ornamentation, with a succession of pinnacled altars overlooked by exuberant stained glass windows. The interior was finished in 1938–1942 when leading Croatian painter Mirko Rački covered the walls and ceilings with brightly colored frescoes illustrating famous episodes from the Old and the New Testament.

Kakvu priču kriju violončelo, Ravelov Bolero i najveći park prirode istočne Hrvatske otkrivamo u prilogu.
