Korakuen is treasured as one of the Three Great Gardens of Japan, created in 1700, and the only one in western Japan.
Kōrakuen (後楽園) is one of Okayama's best sights, has a wide open atmosphere, beautiful cherry blossoms in the spring, and many newlyweds take wedding photos there.
Since rain was forecast, it was lucky to have escaped it, but in its place that day was heavy wind, as you can see.
Along with Korakuen, the Handayama Garden nearby is also extremely beautiful and a hidden cherry blossom secret.

Japanese Garden - Korakuen Garden - Okayama, Japan Holiday Tour
Korakuen (後楽園, Kōrakuen) is a beautiful landscape garden and Okayama's main attraction. Along with Kanazawa's Kenrokuen and Mito's Kairakuen, Korakuen is ranked as one of Japan's three best landscape gardens. It is located just beside Okayama Castle, which can be seen from the garden as borrowed scenery.
The local feudal lord ordered the construction of Korakuen in 1687 as a place of entertainment for the ruling family and a location for receiving important guests. Occasionally, the public was permitted to enter the garden.

Japan Trip - Autumn in Okayama Castle and Korakuen Garden (岡山城, 後楽園 - 紅葉)
Few days ago we went to Oakayama city by shinkansen. Oakayama is the birth place of the famous Momotaro or the peach boy who defeated local demons with his animal friends. Apart from Momotaro we saw the very beautiful autumn leaves of Korakuen Garden (後楽園) and Okayama castle.

► Korakuen is a japanese Kaiyu-style garden, located in Okayama. (*between Kobe and Hiroshima) - It is one of The three great gardens of Japan. It was originally constructed in 1687, however, the garden did'nt reach its modern form until 1867, in addition, it was restored in 1952 after suffering severe damages from the World War II bombings in 1945.
It's really a superb garden, with so many highlights, so much variation, not to mention the size of it. I recommend Korakuen Garden to anyone, with just the slightest interest in Japanese gardens and culture. - Enjoy!

Korakuen garden, Okayama, Japan 2008,後楽園 Kōrakuen), is a Japanese garden located in Okayama, Okayama Prefecture. It is one of the Three Great Gardens of Japan, along with Kenroku-en and Kairaku-en. Korakuen was built in 1700 by Ikeda Tsunamasa, lord of Okayama. The garden reached its modern form in 1863.

Japanese Garden AT NIGHT!: Korakuen Garden
Korakuen is one of the Top 3 Traditional Gardens of Japan. It's located in Okayama City, Okayama, Japan and has numerous events throughout the year. For the end of the summer, they had an event after dark where you could appreciate the garden under illumination. It was so beautiful! Korakuen Garden was completed in 1700 for the Lords of the era. In 1884, it was opened to the public. Sadly, during WWII much of it was destroyed, but it was rebuild based off of paintings and pictures of the original to match as closely as possible to what it once was.
We enjoyed a delicious cup of peach kakigori (traditional shaved ice) at the food and beer gardens while listening to the crickets, cicadas, and frogs and staring at the castle above us.
Later, we went to our first Izakaya (a casual dining and drinking restaurant) and enjoyed yaki niku (grilled meat). We finished the night by wandering around the city after dark. It was quiet and beautiful. :)

We visited Okayama Korakuen Garden in Autumn season last year. The colour of the leaves as well as the design of this garden is absolutely beauty.
Okayama is only 45 minutes away from Osaka Shin Station.

Okayama (岡山市 Okayama-shi, Japanese: [okaꜜjama]) is the capital city of Okayama Prefecture in the Chūgoku region of Japan. The city was founded on June 1, 1889.
As of February 2017, the city has an estimated population of 720,841 and a population density of 910 persons per km². The total area is 789.88 square kilometres (304.97 square miles).
The city is the site of Kōraku-en, known as one of the top three traditional gardens in Japan, and Okayama Castle, which is ranked among the best 100 Japanese castles. The city is famous as the setting of the Japanese fable Momotarō.
