Коргалжы́нский госуда́рственный приро́дный запове́дник (каз. Қорғалжы́н мемлекетті́к табиғи́ қорығы́) — один из двух казахстанских заповедников, входящих в список Всемирного наследия ЮНЕСКО в составе объекта Сарыарка — Степи и озёра Северного Казахстана.
Коргалжынский заповедник расположен в 130 км юго-западнее г. Астана. Коргалжынский заповедник создан в 1968 г. для сохранения уникальных водно-болотных угодий, являющихся местом обитания фламинго, кудрявого пеликана и других птиц[1].
Тенгиз-Коргалжынские озёрные системы являются одним из наиболее важных водно-болотных угодий для перелетных птиц в Казахстане и во всей Азии. В 1976 году водно-болотные угодья Тенгиз-Коргалжынской системы озёр были включены в Рамсарский список[2]. В 2000 г. озеро Тенгиз вошло в международную сеть «Живые озера», куда входят самые уникальные озера мира.

Saryarka - Steppe and Lakes of Northern Kazakhstan comprises two protected areas: Naurzum State Nature Reserve and Korgalzhyn State Nature Reserve totalling 450,344 ha. It features wetlands of outstanding importance for migratory water birds, including globally threatened species, among them the extremely rare Siberian white crane, the Dalmatian pelican, Pallas's fish eagle, to name but a few. These wetlands are key stopover points and crossroads on the Central Asian flyway of birds from Africa, Europe and South Asia to their breeding places in Western and Eastern Siberia. The 200,000 ha Central Asian steppe areas included in the property provide a valuable refuge for over half the species of the region's steppe flora, a number of threatened bird species and the critically endangered Saiga antelope, formerly an abundant species much reduced by poaching. The property includes two groups of fresh and salt water lakes situated on a watershed between rivers flowing north to the Arctic and south into the Aral-Irtysh basin.

Charyn Biosphere Reserve, Republic of Kazakhstan
Situated in the inter-montane basin of Ili, in the southeast of Kazakhstan, this biosphere reserve unites the canyon-like valley of the Charyn river with relict ash forest, deserts and steppes typical of Central Asia. The floristic diversity includes some 1,000 species of higher vascular plants. The fauna is rich and diverse. While agriculture has long been the main economic activity in the region, tourism has been developing for several years alongside cattle breeding and horticulture.

To prevent illegal poaching and unsustainable water extraction for irrigation in the Korgalzhyn wetland in northern Kazakhstan, the government established the Korgalzhyn protected area and educated the public about the importance of wetland ecosystems.

Korgalzhyn State Nature Reserve (Kazakh: Қорғалжын мемлекеттік табиғи қорығы, Qorǵaljyn memlekettik tabiǵi qoryǵy) is a nature reserve in Aqmola and Karaganda regions of Kazakhstan, located west of the city of Astana. It is part of the UNESCO heritage site Saryarka — Steppe and Lakes of Northern Kazakhstan, Ramsar site and biosphere reserve. It protects about 5432 km2 of lakes, steppes and semi deserts. The biggest lake is Lake Tengiz.
Territory Korgalzhyn State nature reserve area of 543171 hectares is one integral portion located in the Steppe of central Kazakhstan region of the Indian and Siberian-East African migration routes of migratory birds and an important wetland of international importance, not only for Kazakhstan, but also for the whole of Asia. Extensive reserve waters provide the necessary living space in the largest Asian population of wetland birds.
