Salvador Dali Museum in Japan + Drawing Timelapses [Urabandai, Fukushima] [ Travel Vlog]
Tokyo and other major tourist destinations are super crowded during the busy Golden Week Holidays in early May, so we tried to get away from the hustle and bustle by going to the mountains. We went to the Salvador Dali Museum in Japan (Morohashi Museum of Modern Art), the Goshikinuma Youth Hostel and the Goshikinuma trail in Urabandai, Fukushima.
It turned out to also be busy. Despite the business, the area was very relaxing.
Urabandai is in the Bandai-Asahi National Park, located between Aizu and Koriyama, Fukushima prefecture. In the area is the restored Tsuruga Castle (Tsurugajo), Kitakata (of ramen fame), Lake Inawashiro (the 4th largest lake in Japan), as well as Mt. Bandai, an active stratovolcano.

Morimori Ramen is located across from the Bandai-Toto Bus Goshikinuma Iriguchi bus stop. We highly recommend it, especially the karaage and chicken strips.

Confirm with the driver first that the bus goes to Urabandai, goshikinuma or Morohashi Bijutsukan.

Yamato Koriyama is a small village near Nara Japan dedicated to Gold Fish. You can have a coffee at K Coffee cafe and admire their phone booth fish tank. Also you can visit the Goldfish Furusato Koriyama Goldfish Museum if you want to learn more about this ancient Japanese tradition of gold fish raising.

Kimiko Owada of Tomioka, Fukushima Prefecture tells her current feelings, Even though I want to return home, I can't—it's not that I won't go back, it's that I cannot go back.
On the day of the nuclear accident, Owada's family then in Tomioka, first evacuated to Kawauchi Village. What is usually a 30 minute drive became a 6 hour drive due to the traffic of those being evacuated.
As telephones were down because of earthquake damage, Ms. Owada searched for information about her mother's whereabouts via various media such as the Internet.
18 days after the earthquake, Ms. Owada got ahold of information that her mother may be among the over 3,000 people evacuated to Koriyama City. She continued searching evacuation centers for 2 days before finally being reunited with her mother. However, her mother was weak and had onset dementia. After that, she was placed in a nursing facility, but due to an ever-changing environment, she couldn't get used to it and she died this year. 7 elderly members of Ms. Owada's family have died this year.
Ms. Owada has once been allowed to go back to her home in the restricted zone of Tomioka and is mourning for the sight that her hometown has become.
She said, If you only see and hear (about it) indirectly, you can't understand the pain. You can't really understand unless you have been there.
Last month, I went to see the current condition of the disaster in 3 prefectures as a member of Tasukeai Japan Fukushima. Then, the other day, I went to Odaka Ward in Minami Soma. I think it is exactly as Ms. Owada said, You can't understand unless you have been there. Even after having seen pictures or videos, if you actually go there, you will be strongly moved.
The next time Ms. Owada visits her home, I want to accompany her and feel the actual condition of Tomioka for myself with my own mind and body.

Namie town of Fukushima prefecture Japan.
I monitored 0.94 micro Sievert per hour in air at chest hight
on road side near a utility pole.
And I monitored air dose rate 0.85 micro Sievert on asphalt road pavement.
There is a place, the monitor figurs jump up.
There left highly contaminated soil at the street side.
2.3 micro Sievelt per hour, chest height.
13 to 14 micro Sievelt per hour 5 cm height from the soil.
18 to 20 micro Sievelt per hour when the monitor laid directly on the soil.
Soil contaminated with high concentration of radioactive material

Welcome to day 6, ganbaru Ishinomaki.
This is the vlog documentation of my month long study abroad program focusing on film and music to Japan. These videos are not meant to be instructional in any way unless labeled child friendly, in which case it will be an instructional video appropriate for children from ages 2 1/2 to 6 about some of the basics of Japan. This is just meant to be a fun look at my trip to japan and my experiences.
Statue of Okubo Toshimichi (Kagoshima City, Japan) - Contributor to Meiji Restoration -
Okubo Toshimichi is the great contributor to the Meiji Restoration and modernization of Japan. He was assassinated in 1878 just 1 year after the death of his friend, Saito. His statue looks as if he is crying in the rain.
