I got invited to Japan! The Japanese TV show called Who Wants to go to Japan finds people who have an interest in some part of Japanese culture and invites them to Japan to experience that culture in person for the first time. In last week's Japan series video, I explained how I got on the show, and this week it's finally time... to head to JAPAN!! Follow along as I travel halfway around the globe to visit the Koriyama Goldfish Museum in Yamatokoriyama near Osaka (the second largest prefecture in Japan).
The museum has TONS of great goldfish artifacts including the oldest goldfish book in existence, the pickled remains of goldfish that were owned by the Emperor of Japan 70 years ago, a newspaper clipping from the first time goldfish were exported from Japan to the US, and more! There's also a goldfish market at the Koriyama Goldfish Museum where breeders from the surrounding areas bring their goldfish to be sold to the public, so you'll get to see tons of goldfish varieties from ranchu to bubble eyes and everything in-between.

Walking around Yamato Koriyama Nara Japan - Gold fish town
Yamato Koriyama is a small village near Nara Japan dedicated to Gold Fish. You can have a coffee at K Coffee cafe and admire their phone booth fish tank. Also you can visit the Goldfish Furusato Koriyama Goldfish Museum if you want to learn more about this ancient Japanese tradition of gold fish raising.
