Koriyama Japan Tourism. Kōriyama (郡山市 Kōriyama-shi?) is a city in central Fukushima Prefecture, Japan. As of February 2015, the city has an estimated population of 329,339[2] and a population density of 435 persons per km². The total area was 757.06 km². Kōriyama is designated as a core city and functions as a commercial center for Fukushima Prefecture. Kōriyama is the second largest conurbation in the Tōhoku region.

On 7th of Oct 2012 , I measured radiation in front of KURUME community center of Koriyama city, Fukushima pref. Japan
I monitored 0.0.45 micro Sv/h at my chest in air, 10.19 micro Sv/h on road side sands.
The monitorinig place is KURUME, a housing area of Koriyama city, 60 km from Fukushima Nuclear power plant, and located in housing area of Koriyama city.
The measuring instrument is made of Ukraine, ECOTEST MKS-05.
Historical background of KURUME of Koriyama city.
In 1877, 11 persons came from KURUME of Kyusyu iland, west south part of Japan.
They were Samurais in their past. But they had to change their occupation to farmers from Samurais since the Meiji Restoration started in 1867 abolished Samurai class.
11 persons started cultivation of Koriyama. More KURUME Samurai families, 141 families with 585 persons came over in those days. The monumental stone shown in the video admires their hard work and tells the background of the name of this place KURUME.
Koriyama city of Fukushima pref. and Kurume city of Fukuoka pref. have established a sister city relationship.
Kurume city of Fukuoka city is well known as a birth place of BRIGESTONE, a tire company.
The map shown in the video is Radiation counter map of the FUKUSHIMA Daiich nuclear accident by frofessor Yukio HAYAKAWA of GUNMA university.

I am closing to Hachihonmatsu, but, in the meantime, I'm going through Koriyama. The sun is shining strongly, it is warm, but felt empty... Today is Monday, and it should be more people and cars there. Nevermind... well, pleasant breeze blows. It's hot, but thanks to the wind it's nice. It's quite an unusual sight for me. I've been here since one year, but the second time I see the police, protective place for some unpleasant event on the road.

Koriyama Castle: Sakura Paradise!
Tsutsui Junkei, The Warrior Who Unified Yamato, Builds a Castle in Koriyama!
Kōriyama Castle was a Japanese castle in what is now the city of Yamato-Kōriyama, Nara Prefecture, Japan. The Sengoku daimyo Tsutsui Junkei started construction of the castle, and Toyotomi Hidenaga made it his residence. In the Edo period, it became the headquarters of the Kōriyama Domain. During this time it was held variously by members of the Mizuno, Okudaira Matsudaira, Honda, Fujii Matsudaira, and Yanagisawa clans.
Today, many walls and moats are preserved in a public park in the city. The Yanagisawa Shrine stands within the grounds.
Many influential warriors battled to gain power over this region. However, in the Edo period a succession of dominant lords were deployed to rule Koriyama realm.
It was Tsutsui Junkei who united the Yamato province by overcoming the rising local samurais, one after another. His achievement of Yamato unification, supported by Oda Nobunaga, took place in 1576, and his entrance into Koriyama Castle was accomplished in 1580. Koriyama was a bustling area where markets stood in rows, but Junkei's arrival brought even more prosperity to the town.
There is a famous episode about Junkei. After the Incident of Honnō-ji in 1582,(The Incident at Honnō-ji refers to the forced suicide on June 21, 1582 of Japanese daimyo Oda Nobunaga at the hands of his samurai general Akechi Mitsuhide. This occurred in Honnō-ji, a temple in Kyoto, ending Nobunaga's quest to consolidate centralized power in Japan under his authority.) Junkei was asked by his ally Akechi Mitsuhide, to send troops to Horagatoge pass for military assistance. However, impressed by the superior forces of the opponent, Junkei brooded over whether to accept Mitsuhide's demand, but finally he made up his mind to wait and see which side to take. This incident has been handed down through a Japanese sayingHoragatoge o kimekomu or to wait and see at Horagatoge, which is now used in a negative sense, to come down on the right side of the fence.
Koriyama Castle Festival
The ruins of Kōriyama Castle (located in the City of Yamato Kōriyama just southeast of Nara) is said to be one of the 100 best places in Japan for cherry blossom viewing. Every year, for 9 days during the latter part of March and the early part of April, the city sponsors Kōriyama Jō Matsuri. The event attracts over 300,000 visitors.
