Oslo Travel Guide: Downhill sledding at Korketrekkeren
Korketrekkeren is a 2 km (1.3 miles) long toboggan track in Oslo. This is a fun winter activity that you can do in Oslo as a tourist. It is enjoyable for children as well as for adults.
To get to Korketrekkeren you have to take T-bane 1 (Metro) to Frognerseteren, which is the last stop. There, you can rent a sled and helmet, costing between 50 and 150 NOK. Currently the selection is between a wooden sled, a wooden family sled, and a metal adult sled. If you want to go fast, I recommend the metal sled.
The track starts right by the rental house, and continues 2 km down from there. There are both flat and steep parties, but you won’t have to walk much. The track is prepared every night, but the conditions depend heavily on weather. If it has been snowing recently, the track should be in good condition. If there is a lot of ice, it can be dangerous. In that case, the sled rental will be closed. If unsure, check the website of which are responsible for the track.
You also need at least a day pass for public transportation because you are going to have to take the metro from where the track ends, at Midtstuen, back up to Frognerseteren.
Korketrekkeren literally means “the corkscrew”. At summer time Korketrekkeren is used by daredevils for downhill cycling.

2 km toboggan run in Oslo: Korketrekkeren
Oslo's most popular toboggan run is an adrenaline filled sled ride called Korketrekkeren (the cork screw) that starts at Frognerseteren and ends at Midtstuen metro station. At the end of a run, you can take a 16-minute metro ride back up to Frognerseteren for another go.
Korktrekkeren is 2,000 metres long, and the elevation drop is 255 metres. One non-stop ride takes 8–10 minutes, althoug the pros do it in just 2!
Note: Korketrekkeren is only open when there is enough snow in the area.
Getting there:
Take the metro line 1 from the city to Frognerseteren. This is a scenic metro ride so have your camera ready.
Sled and equipment rental:
Riding in Korketrekkeren is free, but sled rental costs 100–150 NOK per day. You can also bring your own sled.
Akeforeningen, located down the hill from the Frognerseteren metro stop, has sleds for rent as well as sledding classes.
Skiservice has sleds and equipment for rent from its office across the street from Frognerseteren Café.

U-Sled @ Korketrekkeren - Oslo - Norway - 2017
Here is the video of the first ride of the U-Sled in Oslo - Norway.
Korketrekkeren (direct translation: The Corkscrew) is a tobogganing track and former bobsleigh and luge track in Oslo, Norway.
U-Sled translates winter sledding into the summer, creating the REAL SUMMER SLEDDING experience. Steered by the rider's movements, U-Sled preserves all the original sledding interactions like overtaking or hiking, allowing fun, independent and interactive leisure experiences.
Enjoy the video.

Opplev Oslo - Korketrekkeren

Korketrekkeren Toboggan Run in Oslo, Norway
My favorite part of Oslo, Norway in the winter is the Korketrekkeren Toboggan Run! Over 1.24 miles long with an elevation drop of 836 feet. This video is just one piece of the run that takes 8 minutes if you are speed demon or 10 minutes like me who stopped to take pictures on every turn.

48 HOURS IN OSLO, NORWAY
Imagine waking up to incredibly aromatic coffee, strolling through incredible architecture, sunset high above the icy city, ducking into underground restaurants, and jumping in an ice bath in a Fjord. You can do all of that and more in Oslo...in just 48 hours.
Oslo, Norway is one of the most interesting cities I've visited. They have a busting local scene in town, so much history, and also just 20 minutes from the forest and fjord where many locals spend winter weekends reconnecting with themselves.
Oslo is a special place that I really hope to return to soon. Our trip was planned by Up Norway. If you're thinking about a visit I highly recommend using their services to plan your own visit. They give you a true insiders look at the city and hook you up with experiences you'd never be able to find on your own, all through an app where you can select your preferences.
