Toyota Koromo Matsuri: Floats are in Motion!
These floats are hand pulled in a parade through Toyota City! Here's the floats getting started for their second parade of the day, leaving the Koromo Shrine. This was the first and second of seven (possibly eight) floats. In Japanese 山車。This part of this Matsuri was one of the coolest things I've seen in Japan! In general, this Matsuri reminded me of the Philadelphia Mummers Parade! Maybe you can see it too :)

But you see, right from the get-go, the float had to go around a corner. What I didn’t realize was that in pulling them around corners, you had to pick up considerable speed. These floats are ancient—they don’t have engines. It’s not like you can turn a steering wheel or put on the brakes. They’re entirely motivated by a mass of people (and a lot of rope). Coming around a tight corner, the float cannot slow down—otherwise it would fall over.

Shinto shrine, Atsuta shrine in Nagoya city, Part 2 - to the main sanctuary (2/2) 熱田神宮
Atsuta shrine is located in the center of Naogya city, one of the biggest cities in Japan.
This shrine is considered as one of the most important Shinto shrines with its 1900 years history.
I recommend you visit this shrine when you come to Nagoya city. I suppose you can detect the portion of Japanese people's beriefs there.
