Kos Town Greece 2018
Kos Island Greece is one of Dodocanese islands in the Aegean See. It is the third largest island of the Dodocanese, after Rodes and Karpathos.
On the northeastern part of island is situated Kos town the capital and main port.
Town is ideal place for walking around and admire ancient Greek, Roman and Byzantine ruins or medieval castle, or just walk along the Palm Tree Avenue. You can go around town by bicycle since there are many bicycle paths through the town. Mini train for sightseeing is a bit expensive for what you get.
Port is important and very vibrant part of town. There are many excursion wooden boats for neighboring islands Persimos, Kalymnos and Plati. Also ferryboats for Bodrum Turkey, and many fancy yachts.
All along the port are bars and restaurants with nice drinks and tasty food ( Gyros, Souvlaki, posa cheese in wine...).
Medieval Castle of the Knights of Saint John, Neratzia is next to the port. Entrance is by bridge that crosses over beautiful Palm Tree Avenue. It was closed due to last year (2017) earthquake.
In the center of town is large platan tree seeded by Hippocrates ( legend ) father of medicine, who lived on Kos and worked in Asclepion.
There are many signs of past all around town: Agora, Roman Villa, Roman Odeon, Western archeological site, Asclepion 3.5 km from town.
Near the town there are nice beaches with good beach bar like: Lambi, Mylos, Ag. Fokas and Thermes.

De Haven van Kos - 2018 - KOS TOWN HARBOUR - KOS STADT HAFEN
Kos-Stad Mei 2018
----
Kos City is the capital of the island, has the largest port and is the tourist and cultural center. Close to the harbor is the 14th century Neratzia Castle, built in 1315 by the Knights of St. John of Rhodes. In the center of the city is an old market place, an agora. The ancient Asklepieion is located between Kos Town and the Dikeos.
As a sail enthusiast, everything that happens around a port attracts me. There were two Dutch boats of which I follow one through a blog, they sail every year for 6 months in the waters of Greece. Nice to meet them in person now.
I was planning to assemble a video with my Iphone on the spot. There were too many recordings, hence this was mounted in the Netherlands at home. On my next visit I will make a 4K version. Enjoy a moment or come into the atmosphere of your visit to Kos.

Tha Me Koitas Sta Matia (Θα με κοιτάς στα μάτια)
You’ll look me in the eyes
—One day maybe we’ll meet again
—In a group of friends, in a friendly house
And like two strangers we’ll introduce each other again
—But you will know that I still love you
—And you’ll look me in the eyes and I’ll become pieces
Like a boat that breaks in two
—And I will hide a tear from the corner of the eyes
—That will tell you I still love you, that will tell you I still love you
One day maybe we’ll meet again
—at a traffic light downtown suddenly
– and like two strangers we will simply look at each other
and maybe we’ll say a friendly “hello”
And you’ll look me in the eyes and I’ll become pieces
Like a boat that breaks in two
And I will hide a tear from the corner of the eyes
That will tell you I still love you, that will tell you I still love you.

Kos town. Kos town is located in the northeast of the Greek island of Kos. Kos town is the capital and the main port of the island. The medieval castle of Nerantzias at the harbor is striking. This impressive castle was built in the 16th century by the Knights of St. John to protect against attacks by the Turks and pirates. Kos is a lively city with lovely terraces, picturesque, narrow streets and shops. It also has well-paved wide main roads, large pubic squares and parks. The buildings in Kos town represent its diverse historical past. More information

Evening meal at the Castle, Kos town
This is part of the colony at the Castle in Kos harbor. There are around 40 cats altogether in several groups all along the Castle's sidewall. Luckily, there are other good souls looking after them, so they are quite healthy. Currently at least 10-15 of them needs to spayed and castrated. We won't rest on our laurels till we get them all done!
