वर्तमान में राजस्थान का कोटा जब अलग शहर या राज्य न होकर बूंदी के अधीन था, तब चंबल नदी के दाहिनी तट पर अकेलगढ़ के एक शासक सरदार और राजा कोटिया भील ने सन् 1264 में बूंदी पर हमला किया था। बूंदी के तत्कालीन शासक जैत सिंह से उनका वर्तमान में कोटा गढ़ पैलेस वाले स्थान पर युद्ध हुआ। कई दिन तक चले युद्ध में कोटिया भील शहीद हुए। उनकी बहादुरी और पराक्रम को देखते हुए बूंदी के शासक ने कोटिया भील के नाम पर कोटा राज्य की अलग से स्थापना की। कोटा शहर के रंगबाड़ी सर्किल के निकट पार्क में कोटिया भील की संगमरमर से आदमकद प्रतिमा लगाने के लिए यूआईटी 59 लाख रुपए खर्च किए हैं। इतिहासकार फिरोज अहमद के अनुसार वर्तमान में जहां कोटा गढ़ पैलेस है वहां पर कोटिया भील पर तीन बार हमले हुए। एक बार उनकी गर्दन अलग हुई, लेकिन फिर उनका धड़ लड़ता रहा। फिर उनके धड़ को भी दो हिस्सों में बांटा गया। उसी स्थान पर गढ़ की नींव रखी गई है। गढ़ बनने के बाद सबसे पहले वहां कोटिया भील के तीन रूप स्थापित किए गए। उन तीनों रूपों की तब से लेकर आज तक पूजा की जाती है। अब भी गढ़ की तरफ से उनकी पूजा के लिए पुरोहित नियुक्त कर रखा है। मीडिया हाउस राजस्थान की ये खास स्टोरी सीरीज में कोटा और कोटिया भील के इतिहास से जुड़ी कहानी व किले का रहस्य ! देखें खास वीडियों ⛔ Subscribe & Following ???? The Brij Raj Bhavan Palace, Kota, Rajasthan
The Brij Raj Bhavan Palace situated in the city of Kota, Rajasthan is believed to have a special guest at nights. The fort which was converted to a heritage hotel some four decades ago allows this guest free of cost to reside there. It is believed that Major Burton was in employment of British resident to Kota. Hence, he became enemy of Indian Sepoy and thus was killed along with his family during the Sepoy mutiny in 1857. Thereafter, the fort of Kota was occupied as the palace of the queen of the British Resident. Apparently, the Queen of Kota spoke to the journalists claiming to have seen the ghost of dead major Burton. The spirit of Major Burton is harmless and causes no physical damage to the fort. But the ghost is said to have a habit of hitting the dozing security guards.

राजस्थान के कोटा शहर में एक पुरानी हवेली है। हवेली का नाम है ब्रिज भवन जो अब एक होटल है। इस होटल में देश दुनिया से पर्यटक आते हैं, लेकिन इसके अंदर कदम रखते ही एक आहट सी होती है। वो आहट है यहां पर वास करने वाली आत्मा की। कहा जाता है कि ब्रिज भवन में एक अंग्रेज की आत्मा आज भी वास करती है। वो अंग्रेज जिसे भवन के सेंट्रल हॉल में उसके दो जुड़वां बेटों के साथ मार दिया गया था। ब्रिज भवन जो अब कोटा स्टेट गेस्ट हाउस बन गया है, यहां काम करने वाले लोग बताते हैं कि अक्सर छत व बागीचे में किसी के चलने की आवाजें आती हैं। लोग बताते हैं कि अगर रात के अंधेरे में कोई छत पर या बागीचे में जाता है, तो उसे थप्पड़ पड़ जाता है। लोगों का मानना है कि यह थप्पड़ कोई और नहीं मेजर का भूत ही मारता है।
