कोटेश्वर महादेव मंदिर
कोटेश्वर मंदिर, रुद्रप्रयाग से 3 कि0मी0 की दूरी पर स्थित एक प्राचीन मंदिर है। यह गुफा मंदिर अलकनंदा नदी के किनारे पर स्थित है। मान्यताओं के अनुसार भगवान शिव ने केदारनाथ जाते समय, इस गुफा में साधना की थी और यहाँ पर सभी मूर्ति प्राकृतिक रूप से निर्मित हुई है। महाशिवरात्रि में यहाँ मेले का आयोजन किया जाता है। जिसमे दूर दूर से भग्त आते है|

Full Darshan Koteshwar Mahadev temple Rudraprayag Uttarakhand.
The Temple is present in the shape of a cave and lies on the banks of River Alaknanda. According to devotees, Lord Shiva meditated in this cave while going to Kedarnath and thus it includes the idols which have originated naturally.
The temple is majorly visited by tourists and devotees during the festival of Mahashivratri.
This place is 3 km far from Rudraprayag and can be visited during char dham yatra to Kedarnath and badrinath.

This place is presumed to be the same spot where Lord Shiva had stopped for meditation on his way to Kedarnath. According to a local mythology this temple has its presence since the time of bhasmasur (the deadly Asur/Demon who got a boon/vardan from Lord Shiva that whoso ever's head will be touched by him, will be turned into bhasma or ashes. Seeing the powerful effects of this boon he tried to bhasm Lord Shiva. Lord Shiva kept on hiding from place to place and finally came to this place which was a cave, Lord Shiva resided here for some time meditating Lord Vishnu and finally Lord Vishnu helped him by taking Mohini avtar and tricking Bhasmasur to place his hand on his own head due to which Bhasmasur turned into ashes.

Confluence of Alaknanda and Mandakini rivers at Rudraprayag, Uttarakhand
The confluence of river Alaknanda and Mandakini in Rudraprayag in Uttarakhand. At the confluence, there is a temple of Hindu Lord Shiva. Pilgrims use the staircase to reach the temple as it is on a hilltop. Mandakini river flows on the right-hand side of the temple while on the left side there is Alaknanda river. Hindu pilgrims can be seen taking bath at the confluence.
This town is at a distance of 40 KM from Srinagar located at the confluence of two rivers Alaknanda & Mandakini. River Alaknanda which starts from Alakpuri glacier comes from Badrinath Dham. River Mandakini flows from Kedarnath and joins Alaknanda at this place. After Rudraprayag, the river is known as Alaknanda.
Rudraprayag at a height of 610 meters is a small town and this town has a lot of religious significance. Lord Shiva temple is known as Rudranath here. Narad Muni meditated here for several years and got the blessings of Lord Shiva. There is a temple of goddess Jagadamba Devi in this town.
This town is located at a junction of three hill districts Chamoli, Tehri & Pauri. From here the roads to Kedarnath & Badrinath branches out to two different routes. The road towards Badri Nath Dham goes towards Karanprayag – Nandprayag-Chamoli-Srinagar – Joshimath & then to Sri Badrinath. The other road to Kedarnath goes to Agastyamuni-Guptkashi-Sonprayag-Gaurikund & then to Kedarnath.

Kartik Swami temple is located near Kanak Chauri village on Rudraprayag – Pokhari route in the Rudraprayag district of Uttarakhand. A mild 3k trek from Kanak Chauri village takes you to the stunning beauty of Kartik Swami temple.
Kartik Swami temple is dedicated to the elder son of Lord Shiva, Kartikeya, who offered his bones as testimony of his devotion to his father. It is believed that the incident took place here. Lord Kartik Swami is also known as Kartik Murugan Swami in the southern part of India.
A constant sound from hundreds of bell hung in the temple can be heard at a distance of about 800 metres from there. A flight of 80 stairs from the main road leads you to the garbhagriha of the temple or the place where the idol is kept.
Sandhya Aarti or evening prayers, enchantment of mantras and Maha-bhandara or grand feast organised at the temple occasionally is a special attraction for devotees and tourists.

Rudraprayag: Named after Lord Shiva (Rudra), Rudraprayag is situated at the holy confluence of Alaknanda and Mandakini rivers, at a distance of 34 kms. from Srinagar(Garhwal). The meeting of the Mandakini and Alaknanda rivers has a unique beauty of its own and it seems as if two sisters were embracing each other.
