Sri Someswara Swamy Temple is located on River Gautami at Kotipalli in East Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh. Lord Shiva is presiding here in the form of Koteswara Swamy and Sri Someswara Swamy. It is also known as Uma Parvathi Devi Sahita Someswara Swamy Vari Temple.

There are two Shivalingas in the temple namely Koteswara Swamy Linga and Someswara Swamy Linga. Koteswara Swamy Linga was installed by Lord Indra and Someswara Swamy Linga by Lord Soma to get rid of the curse. Sri Siddi Janardhana Swamy, Goddess Sridevi and Goddess Bhoodevi installed by Kasyapa Maharshi are the Kshetra Palakas of this temple. There is a separate shrine for Goddess Raja Rajeswari Ammvaru. The other deities in the temple are Lord Anjaneya, Lord Kalabhairava and Navagrahas. The Holy River is very famous for its sacred water. It was brought by Gowtham Maharshi. As per Gowthami Mahatyam, if any person takes a bath in this Holy Water will be purified from all kinds of sins. Koteswara Lingam is a Yoga Lingam and Someswara Lingam is a Bhoga Lingam.

This temple is one of the “Pancharamas”.

చంద్రుడు తన శాపవిమోచనానికై సోమేశ్వర స్వామి ని, ఇంద్రుడు తన పాప ప్రక్షాళనకై కోటేశ్వర లింగాన్ని, వశిష్ఠ మహర్షి సిద్ధి జనార్దన స్వామిని ప్రతిష్ఠించినట్టు స్థల పురాణం ఆధారంగా తెలుస్తోంది.

కోటేశ్వర స్వామి ఈ క్షేత్ర పాలకుడు.

చంద్రుడు ప్రతిష్ఠించిన సోమేశ్వర స్వామి లింగం భూమికి నాలుగు అంగుళాల ఎత్తు మాత్రమే ఉండడం విశేషం.

ఇంత చిన్న శివలింగం కలిగిన ఆలయం ఆంధ్రప్రదేశ్ లో ఇది ఏకైక ఆలయం.

ఒకే గర్భగుడిలో ఒకవైపు శివుడు, మరోవైపు విష్ణువు ఉండడం, ఇద్దరికీ కలిపి ఒకే గోపురం, ఒకే ధ్వజస్తంభం కలిగి ఉండడం ఈ ఆలయం ప్రత్యేకత.

Kotipalli is located at a distance of 38 Km from Kakinada, 60 Km from Rajahmundry. Kotipalli is a famous pilgrimage center, which is situated on the Bank of River Godavari according to Brahmanda Puranam and Gowthami Mahatyam. Here three famous idols are situated by Lord Indra, Lord Chandra and Kasyapa Maharshi. In this temple the Shiva linga is always submerged in water. KOTIPALLI, which is in Ramachandra - puram Taluk of East Godavari District, is famous as the seat of an ancient temple where Lord Siva is worshipped as Sri Someswaraswamy. The Goddess is Sri Rajarajeswari Ammavaru. Kotipalli is situated on the banks of the sacred Godavari at a point where it joins the sea. It can be reached from Kakinada stations on buses ply to Kotipalli.
