Lonely Japan Shrine shrine ロンリー日本神社神社 - Abandoned Japan 日本の廃墟
I found this beautiful old shrine after following an overgrown trail leading off from a small road in the mountains of central Japan. The shrine passed an old cemetery and stone statues of Jizo and followed the course of a very old stone water channel where small black salamanders swam lazily in the slow current. The shrine was made up of two buildings including a small balcony structure at the front where community members likely gather during festivals as well as the main shrine structure in back. The shrine structure housed five separate wooden shrines enclosed beneath a protective structure which is open in the front. The inside of the shrine building was very dark and I do apologize for the poor quality of the video.

THE PATH OF WILDNESS
The Path of Wildness is easy to find
The course of a stream
Leaves blown in the wind
A beast's track through the brush
And the direction of our first inclination
The Path of Wildness is an answer and response to a prescribed way of life which may leave some individuals with a sense that their living is little more than a series of pre-determined, step-like episodes between birth and death. The stages of living between these events: childhood, adolescence, adulthood, parenthood and senior are themselves natural and in accord with the needs of the species and most individuals. Many find their satisfaction in living this course and to these individuals I have little or nothing to say. Others though long for something more; something innate, genetic and seemingly calling. Adventure and change can give a degree of satisfaction and relief yet even these may seem too tame. To those who feel drawn to something beyond the entertainment and stimulation of senses I offer a walk along The Path of Wildness. Don't bother penciling the event in your schedule, preparing a pack with goodies and supplies or even inviting a friend along, for this experience is along the course of your first inclination and you must surely always go alone.

Zenkoji Temple (善光寺) , Nagano Prefecture, Japan
Zenkoji Temple (善光寺) is located in the north of Nagano Prefecture. Zenkoji Temple is one of the largest temples in Japan and main temple for the people of Nagano Prefecture.
Original temple has been built in the late sixty and early seventh century. Most of the current buildings (all of them are national treasures) are rebuilt in the 1700s. The temple belongs to both tendai and Jodo sect of Buddhism.
Zenkoji Temple, even though does not officially belong to any Kannon Temple pilgrimages, it is the temple most pilgrims visit after they have completed a Kannon Temple pilgrimage (such as Saikoku or Bando).
There was a typhoon going through that part of Japan, when I went to the temple, so the video reflects the heavy rain that was falling at that time.
Enjoy!!!

Izumo Taisha Grand Shrine (出雲大社), Izumo City, Shimane Prefecture, Japan
Izumo Taisha Grand Shrine (出雲大社) is located in Izumo city (出雲市) of Shimane Prefecture (島根県) in Chugoku region of Japan. The nearest train station JR Izumoshi is about 3 hours on the Limited Express train, Yakumo, from JR Okayama Station.
Izumo Taisha Grand shrine is the oldest and the first Shinto shrine in Japan and it is enshrined by diety O-kuninushi-no-okami, who is also known as Daikoku-sama.
O-kuninushi-no-okami, Izumo Oyashiro, the diety who is enshrined here is known as the creator of all things under the heavens. He is known by many names such as Daikoku-sama, en-musubi and he has founded Japan and made the land suitable to live in.
When the video was taken the Main Structure is going renovations so, I did not get a chance to video it. But the Oracle Hall and the Main worship halls were included in this video.
Both halls have large rope like hangings, made with reed and dried rice plants and they are impressive.
Hope you enjoy the presentation of Izumo Taisha Grand Shrine.

Sunport Takamatsu (サンポート高松 Sanpōto Takamatsu) is a redevelopment district located on the site of the former Takamatsu Freight Depot in Hamanochō, Takamatsu, Kagawa Prefecture, Japan. The development includes a shopping mall, hotel, apartments, convenience stores and several restaurants, and the Konami Sports Club Takamatsu. Sunport also acts as the passenger terminal for JR Shikoku's Takamatsu Station, the ferries at Port of Takamatsu, a wide range of taxi and bus companies, and offers bicycle and car rentals. The headquarters of JR Shikoku is located here as well.
Takamatsu (高松市 Takamatsu-shi, Japanese: [takaꜜmatsɯ]) is a city located in central Kagawa Prefecture on the island of Shikoku in Japan, and is the capital city of the prefectural government. It is designated a core city by the Japanese Government. It is a port city located on the Seto Inland Sea, and is the closest port to Honshu from Shikoku island. For this reason it flourished under the daimyōs (feudal lords) as a castle town in the fiefdom of Takamatsu, during the Edo period. Takamatsu is a city with a large concentration of nationwide companies' branch offices, which play a large role in its economy, and it contains most of the national government's branch offices for Shikoku. The castle tower formerly used as the symbol of the city was destroyed during the Meiji period. In 2004, construction of the Symbol Tower, the new symbol of Takamatsu, was completed. The Symbol Tower is located in the Sunport area of the city. The Symbol Tower is the tallest building in Takamatsu, and is right next to another tall building The JR Clement Hotel (formerly the ANA Clement Hotel), which is also part of the Sunport complex.
The Sunport Takamatsu covers the area of the Symbol Tower, the JR Clement Hotel, and a miniature mall called Maritime Plaza. The Takamatsu Bus station is also located right next to Maritime Plaza. Various Buses including the Kotoden Bus run through town, to Ritsurin Park, and to the airport. Sunport Takamatsu is also connected to the ports of Takamatsu.
The Takamatsu metropolitan region has a population of 838,788 (as October 1, 2005), making it the largest in Shikoku.[citation needed] Takamatsu Airport is located in Takamatsu.
On September 26, 2005, the town of Shionoe (from Kagawa District) was merged into Takamatsu.
On January 10, 2006, Takamatsu absorbed the towns of Aji and Mure (both from Kita District), the towns of Kagawa and Kōnan (both from Kagawa District), and the town of Kokubunji (from Ayauta District) to create the new and expanded city of Takamatsu.
Sensoji Temple (浅草寺) in Asakusa, Tokyo Metropolis, Japan
坂東観音巡礼 第13番 浅草観音 浅草寺
Sensoji Temple is a beautiful city temple in the Asakusa district of Taito ward in Tokyo. Asakusa is a district that is known for it's ancient heritage and the beautiful Sensoji temple. The magnificent new landmark of Tokyo, Tokyo Sky Tree is close by across the Sumida river.
Sensoji temple is the most visited temple in the entire Kanto region. The temple is not only beautiful but also close to the center of the Tokyo city and easily accessible.
Many of the buildings in the premises like the Hondo and the gates have been restored and rebuilt many times. There is a five storied pagoda in the premises and it has been recently rebuilt in the 1970s, as the original pagoda that was built in the ninth century has been burned down and other rebuilds have been destroyed during World War II.
Sensoji Temple is number thirteenth in the Bando (33 Kannon Temples of Kanto region) pilgrimage circuit.
All and all this is a beautiful temple, hope you get a chance to visit it, during your trips to Japan.

Riding a Ferry to Miyajima (Itsukushima) Island, Hiroshima Prefecture, Japan
Miyajima Island is located south of Hiroshima City in Japan. Miyajima Island, also called as Itsukushima Island, is designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Itsukushima Island has the Itsukushima Jinja Shrine. This Shrine's Torii is built in the water and in high tide it looks like it is floating in water. It is the highlight of this Island.
The Ferry to Miyajima Island is operated by Japan Railways (JR). Japan Railways, in addition to operating a big chunk of the railways inside Japan also operates Bus routes and Ferry routes. There is also another Ferry company right alongside JR Ferry but if you are a foreign visitor and have a Japan Rail Pass, take JR Ferry.
I have thoroughly enjoyed the ride and the visit to the Island. Hope you do too.
Enjoy.

This station brings tourists and other travelers to Asakusa, which is the destination for the world famous Sensoji Temple and the newly opened Tokyo Sky Tree (tallest man made tower in the world). See my video of Tokyo Sky Tree.
Also, Tobu Railways runs trains from Asakusa to the UNESCO World Heritage site of Nikko Temples and Shrines. The buses and the routes inside Nikko and other Tochigi prefecture based hot spas are all owned by Tobu Railways. Tobu railways also owns Tobu World Square, a theme park which contains miniature buildings all world's important destinations (for ex: Eiffel Tower in Paris).
