BEST Way To See Kraków, POLAND!
For the first time ever we decided to go on a walking tour! Walkative Tours are quite popular in Poland and we had a great experience on two of their tours: Old Krakow Town & The Jewish District. They each went for more than two and a half hours (get your walking shoes on!) and they were both filled with so much information - needless to say we are now convinced that seeing a new city with a local guide is the way to go!
With ‘free’ walking tours they normally ask for a small tip at the end, you basically pay them what you think the tour was worth. Its also a great way to ask a local for tips on places to eat and things to do once the tour has finished.

Krakow, Poland old town free walking tour | vlog #2
Edited essentially everything while waiting for a missed bus in Belgrade (week 2 into the trip), then final cut crashed and I thought I lost all edits (was down to the last 10s!!!) till today. A wonderful WeeKimWee stud helped me out and it finally got edited (almost 2months later, into the 5th week of classes in Turkey haha).
This vlog is nostalgic as the edit was recovered in Taksim today, the very same area I stayed the night (in the beginning of the video) before moving to Poland 3 months ago. Made it into the beautiful Old Town of Krakow and got a first peek into the square that I came back to quite a lot after. It's the beginning of 20+ days of adventure sprinkled with bits of company throughout! Can't wait to look through the rest of the days, where worries were where I was gonna sleep that night, instead of whether I'm gonna pass my classes :')
Jewish Walking Tour in Kraków, Poland
We climbed up a clocktower and then took a free walking tour of the Jewish Quarter in Kraków. Kraków is an amazing city for history, and the tour did not disappoint. We learned about what it was like to be Jewish during World War II in Kraków, and learned some of the city's sad secrets.

Krakow Food and Vodka Tour - $16!!!
Krakow Food and Vodka Tour - $15!!!
We LOVE food tours. In our past (big-spending) life, we took them often when we traveled. They tend to be expensive, so we haven't done one lately.
Walkative offers lots of free walking tours (we took 2 of them!). They also have a few paid tours. We booked a Food and Vodka Walking Tour of Krakow. At 60 Polish zloty per person ($16USD), it was the cheapest one we've ever taken. We didn't expect much so we were blown away that it was as good as tours we've done for 4 times the price.
We visited 9 locations and tried 1-5 items in each spot. Our guide was informative and enthusiastic (and, it was her birthday!).
The tour was in English and we HIGHLY suggest it.
This is the tour link -
We tried...
-2 types of soup
-pickles and pickled new cabbage
-3 types of sausage
-a huge sweet strawberry
-3 kinds of cheese
-rye bread
-pork liver pate
-savory and sweet pierogies
-a local fruity drink
-poppyseed cake
-FIVE kinds of vodka (plain, elderflower, honey, cherry and caramelized sugar)
Since Amy doesn't drink much, Tim expected 10 small shots to himself. Surprise! Amy drank the last 4.
After a breakfast that was so yummy (at Charlotte), we returned that same night for our last night's dinner. A delicious day in Krakow.

There is a large drinking culture in Krakow's backpacking scene and it is really REALLY fun. I do however strongly recommend getting out of bed every morning and seeing the sights Krakow has to offer. This city has seriously amazing and interesting things to do, from learning about Krakow's history to tasting authentic polish perogies with vodka to castle tours and cruises.

Kraków:
Kraków also Cracow or Krakow is the second largest and one of the oldest cities in Poland. Situated on the Vistula River (Polish: Wisła) in the Lesser Poland region, the city dates back to the 7th century. Kraków has traditionally been one of the leading centres of Polish academic, cultural, and artistic life and is one of Poland's most important economic hubs. It was the capital of the Crown of the Kingdom of Poland from 1038 to 1569; the Polish–Lithuanian Commonwealth from 1569 to 1795; the Free City of Kraków from 1815 to 1846; the Grand Duchy of Cracow from 1846 to 1918; and Kraków Voivodeship from the 14th century to 1998. It has been the capital of Lesser Poland Voivodeship since 1999.
The city has grown from a Stone Age settlement to Poland's second most important city. It began as a hamlet on Wawel Hill and was already being reported as a busy trading centre of Slavonic Europe in 965. With the establishment of new universities and cultural venues at the emergence of the Second Polish Republic in 1918 and throughout the 20th century, Kraków reaffirmed its role as a major national academic and artistic centre. The city has a population of approximately 760,000, with approximately 8 million additional people living within a 100 km (62 mi) radius of its main square.
After the invasion of Poland at the start of World War II, Kraków became the capital of Germany's General Government. The Jewish population of the city was forced into a walled zone known as the Kraków Ghetto, from which they were sent to German extermination camps such as the nearby Auschwitz never to return, and the Nazi concentration camps like Płaszów.
In 1978, Karol Wojtyła, archbishop of Kraków, was elevated to the papacy as Pope John Paul II — the first Slavic pope ever, and the first non-Italian pope in 455 years. Also that year, UNESCO approved the first ever sites for its new World Heritage List, including the entire Old Town in inscribing Cracow's Historic Centre. Kraków is classified as a global city by GaWC, with the ranking of High sufficiency. Cited as one of Europe's most beautiful cities, its extensive cultural heritage across the epochs of Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque architecture includes the Wawel Cathedral and the Royal Castle on the banks of the Vistula river, the St. Mary's Basilica and the largest medieval market square in Europe, the Rynek Główny. Kraków is home to Jagiellonian University, one of the oldest universities in the world and traditionally Poland's most reputable institution of higher learning.
In 2000, Kraków was named European Capital of Culture. The city will also host the next World Youth Day in 2016.Wikipedia

KRAKOW - THE OLD TOWN
We did several free walking tours with Free Walkative Tour Krakow. Their tours all thru out Poland are absolutely awesome. This vlog was filmed on 14.08.2019. This vlog is their old town tour
Wow, this city was such a lesson in history..it blew us away.
Krakow, a city in Southern Poland, is known for it's well preserved medieval core and Jewish quarters.
It's old town is ringed by a park, where once the old city walls stood. Now UNESCO recognized.
The old market square, Rynek Glowny, is the site of the cloth hall, a Renaissance trading outpost with a Black Madonna painting on top of its entrance. 14 th century Gothic St Mary Basilica is on the other side.
On the hill above the Vistula Rive is the Wawel cathedral and castle.
The Jewish quarters is on the other side of the river.
Krakow is Poland second largest city at 800k population after Warsaw at 1m
Krakow dates back to the 7th century. It was the capital of Poland until 1596.
Former kings and queens are buried in the Royal tombs in the Cathedral.
Overall, a great city with lots to offer
