Held at Kranji Cemetery to mark the 75th Anniversary of the Fall of Singapore during the Second World War, on 15 February 1942.

The first time I came to this cemetery, I knew I had to do something visually cinematic. This was supposed to be my entry for the Rode Reel 2017 Competition for both Aerial and Camera Handling Technique Category but I didn't make it on time for the submission. Nonetheless, this is also my first full flag 4k short, made alot of stupid mistake during the post stage that cause the delay for the submission.. Hormat saf to all and remember our commonwealth pioneers who fought to gave us the freedom for today.

Gurkhas Kranji War Memorial (Singapore)
Just think of 60,000 lives, 80 or 90 percent of them were buried somewhere in Europe or across the globe which are still unknown, think of those thousands of war veteran Gurkha who never had their pension and sent back with bare foot, think of those thousands of couples who never got chance to see each other, their beloved husband lost their life in the line of duty and they never returned home, think of those Gurkha who are having 1/3 of pension in comparison to their counterparts who are our fathers & uncles who has got lost soul of separation of family member.

克兰芝阵亡战士纪念碑 (Kranji War Memorial) 位于位于新加坡北部克兰芝，距离市中心 22 公里，四周环境宁静、秀美。
新加坡克兰芝阵亡战士纪念碑是为了缅怀二战期间英勇献身的联邦烈士而建，这些勇士来自英国、澳大利亚、加拿大、斯里兰卡、印度、马来西亚、荷兰和新西兰。
公墓平缓的斜坡上，整齐排列着 4400 多个白色墓碑。其中的 44 号区块属于华人墓碑区，埋葬了 69 名华人烈士，全是新加坡于 1942 年 2 月沦陷后日治时期惨遭杀害的亡魂。
沿着山坡缓缓拾级而上，映入眼帘的是四座纪念碑。最大的一座是新加坡纪念碑，星形塔峰高耸入云24米。这座纪念碑上刻有 2 万 4346 多名盟军士兵和飞行员的名字，他们在东南亚战死沙场，却不知葬身何处。唯有名字完整地留存在英联邦战争公墓委员会 (Commonwealth War Graves Commission) 的登记簿里，就摆放在入口处供人凭吊。每年，接近 11 月 11 日阵亡将士纪念日 (Remembrance Day) 的星期日，这里都会举行纪念活动，悼念那些献出自己宝贵生命的烈士。
与克兰芝阵亡战士纪念碑毗邻的，是克兰芝军人公墓，这片非二战遗址墓地葬有 1400 多名军人。新加坡国家公墓也在此处，首二任总统尤索夫•伊萨 (Encik Yusof Ishak) 和本杰明•薛尔思医生(Dr Benjamin Henry Sheares) 长眠于此。

克兰芝海滩战役（Kranji Beach Battle）
1942年2月10日早上，日军趁潮水退低时，在这里的海滩登陆，结果陷入联军倾倒在海上的浮油阵，联军趁势采用火攻，使第一批入侵的日军蒙受重创。但是，由于担心在“莎琳汶和裕廊登陆的日军会切断联军的退路，联军不得不撤退，日军乘机登陆巩固了对新加坡的侵占。

Singapore holds memorial for WWII victims
Singapore on Monday held a war memorial service in commemoration of the civilian victims of the Japanese occupation.
Singapore fell into the Japanese army on Feb. 15, 1942.
According to incomplete statistics, at least 50,000 Singaporeans were killed during the three-and-half-year Japanese occupation.

On their final day in Singapore as part of the official Southeast Asia-South Pacific tour marking Queen Elizabeth II's Diamond Jubilee, the Royal couple paid their respects to the brave men and women from The Commonwealth who lost their lives defending Singapore during World War II. Rajnath Singh visits Kranji War Memorial in Singapore
Singapore, Nov 20 (ANI): Defence Minister Rajnath Singh visited Kranji War Memorial in Singapore on November 20. He paid tribute to those who laid down their lives during the World War-II. Earlier today, Singh held wide ranging talks with his Singapore counterpart Ng Eng Hen. Singh also paid tribute at Indian National Army (INA) Memorial and met former INA Major (Retd.) Ishwar Lal on November 19. Defence Minister is on a two-day visit to Singapore.

The man who dug up the remains of WWII victims in Singapore
In 1962, Goh Thiam Hoon uncovered a mass grave filled with the bones of the victims of Operation Sook Ching during World War II. He went on to help exhume at least 10 WWII mass graves across Singapore, to give the dead a proper resting place. Here's his story.

We found the brave Malay Regiment led by Left. Adnan that bravely defended Pasir Panjang as well as the tomb of former presidents Yusof Ishak and Benjamin Sheares.
