It's hard to believe that it's been a month since the season-opener of the Cars and Coffee event held at Kringle Candle Company in Bernardston, MA, but I decided to head back down to film the second event, this time with more equipment and a better sense of the event. Of the features that drew me back (and adds to the appeal of almost all C&C meets) is the variation; while there were fewer supercars present this time around, their place was taken by ultra-luxury sedans like the Fisker Karma and Aston Martin Rapide, and next to them sat a number of pristine Bentleys of varying styles. And to handle the other end of the automotive spectrum, one of the original Beetles (used in a certain movie with which you're probably familiar) was also present - water jets and all.
Given the track record so far, the rest of the shows this season should be pretty interesting. Check out their Facebook page for more details.

ThyssenKrupp Signa4 Oildraulic Elevator - Kringle Candle Country Barn - Bernardston, Ma
I think it is about time for another video of this elevator. A quick and silent video, mainly focusing on the elevator itself, but still something to show.*
Three years since its opening in October 2011, I still enjoy riding it. As we can see, this is a newer Kruppy with the Grocery beep (insert checkout joke here). Runs pretty great, showing some true Kruppy quality!
I find this pretty cool, take a look at the doors on 2. The wood grains are in fact hand painted! The first floor has a different pattern (can be seen in another video), and the basement has solid colors to it. Although not evident in the video, this all blends in well with the Rustic theme this building has, seeing it's in the style of a barn. However, this is just one of the four buildings on the Bernardston campus, with this one being the largest. It's pretty nice here.

*I do realize I'm not bringing anything new or exciting to the table here with this. Unfortunately, I don't have as much time anymore in my life to go out and make as much videos, so this is the best I can do. Try to at least appreciate I'm still showing something.
A Two Year Tribute Ride On The ThyssenKrupp Elevator-Kringle Candle Country Barn; Bernardston, Ma
Two years ago on October 15, this portion of the Kringle Candle complex opened. Along came this awesome elevator. Well, I was there on opening day, for those interested. Two years have been riding this awesome elevator whenever I visit.
Some things have changed with the building in the past two years. The building was since renamed and rearranged as the Country Barn the former name being the Christmas barn. Nothing changed with the elevator, but things around the store has changed.

The Farm Table: Local & Sustainable | Connecting Point | Dec. 12, 2013
The Farm Table Restaurant, originally the family home of several generations of sturdy New England dairy farmers, dates back to 1800. Extensive renovation including the installation of a geothermal heating and cooling system, dozens of huge hand-hewn beams, hundreds of venerable wide boards, and literally tons of artisan bricks, stones and fill were repurposed right on-site. An on-site laundry eliminates countless truck deliveries of linens and uniforms and all edible food waste goes to local livestock operations. 1968 Montgomery G&P Hydraulic Elevator-Macy's Burlington Mall; Burlington, Ma
UPDATE 6/28/18: This elevator is currently going a major modernization. From what I am aware, this elevator will have MAD BS fixtures. Most likely, this is being done by Schindler.
Here is an elevator that is closest to original to the mall's opening in 1968. This is closest to original as the elevator in Sears (co-original anchor) has been modernized and the Filene's (supposedly had a Westinghouse) was demolished and the Nordstrom was rebuilt there.
As you can see, it is a near original Montgomery Globe and Parallelogram from that year. The thing that doesn't make it completely original is the fact there are EPCO WN Signature fixtures on the left side of the elevator while the original square buttons on the right are in fact still intact. I really hate to say it, though, they are in awful shape, especially after riding the elevator in Lord And Taylor. That 1 button looks like it is barely hanging on by a thread. The other buttons are just worn.
Other additions made over the years were EPCO WN on the outside, sensors on the doors, and a Moline/KONE interlock; that must be from when either KONE bought out Montgomery in 1994 and becoming Montgomery/KONE or in 1999 when it just became KONE.
The store opened in 1968 with the mall as Jordan Marsh. In the photo, you can see it is a cookie cutter Jordan Marsh store from that era. To compare, although I do not have a photo of it, but the Macy's Mens/Home at Cape Cod Mall looks somewhat like this with the coloring of the brick. A better example is if you take a look at the opening photo to some of my Warwick Mall videos that take place on the Sports Authority side, you can see the exact same brick scheme as this building has (that shade of red bricks plus tan columns or bricks). That as well was a Jordan Mash before being split up. The elevator for that was probably in the exact same spot as this one. It was also three floors as well. As a result, there is a spare third level that is currently vacant. I even stumbled upon an older photo of that building of when it was a Jordan Marsh; Here is the link: labelscar.com/wp-content/uploads/2006/08/Jordan-Marsh-Warwick-Mall-01.jpg
Of course, this was Macy's-ated in 1996 when Jordan Marsh suffered bankruptcy. It has been Macy's since.
The modernization of this elevator looks EXACTLY like the Macy's at Cape Cod Mall. I'm assuming this is how Jordan Marsh did modernizations of elevators in the early/mid 1990's.

MGM Springfield On Track To Open In Year, Details Emerging
he MGM casino and entertainment complex now under construction in Springfield is on track to open in a year and details are now emerging on just what attractions will be offered to visitors.
MGM Springfield officials told the Massachusetts Gaming Commission Thursday the development will now include more table games than first planned, a jewelry store, a six-screen theater with the latest amenities and a high-profile candle store.
MGM Springfield said the casino’s poker room will now have 23 tables, increased from 16.
“There’s unquestionable data that table games is making a bit of a comeback in terms of the mix with slots,” Michael Mathis, president of MGM Springfield, said.
Mathis said market research and MGM’s observations at the opening of its casino at Washington D.C.’s National Harbor show that millennials are increasingly gravitating to table games.
“The younger demographic is skewing away from the traditional slot product and towards and interactive, communal table game experience,” Mathis said. “And I think we sort of laid the groundwork for a potential change in our mix and this is the first reflection of this.”

— Michael Mathis, president, MGM Springfield
The testimony before the gaming commission comes two weeks after MGM Resorts International made a splashy announcement for a $675 million gambling and entertainment venue in Bridgeport. The plan would require the approval of state lawmakers.
MGM Bridgeport Announcement
The principals of MGM Resorts International and The RCI Group announced plans for the development of MGM Bridgeport, a world-class resort casino at Steelpointe Harbor in Bridgeport, at a news announcement Monday morning.
MGM Springfield is expected to place more competitive pressure on Connecticut’s two tribal gaming venues: Foxwoods Resort Casino and Mohegan Sun. The legislature this year backed a joint venture of Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun to establish a “satellite” casino in East Windsor to help prevent gaming dollars in Connecticut from migrating to Springfield.
Construction has yet to begin in East Windsor, but the tribes have said they intended to start this year.
The cost of MGM Springfield, set to open in September 2018, is now pegged at $960 million, up slightly from earlier estimates of about $950 million.
On Thursday, MGM announced the first store to sign into the project. Kringle Candle Co. — based in Bernardston, Mass., and started by the son of the founder of Yankee Candle — will occupy a historic church dating to 1887. The church was moved two city blocks so it could be incorporated into MGM’s development.

Mathis told the commission Thursday the city’s historic armory, built in 1895, will be gradually incorporated into the complex.
The armory, with centurion-like granite and brownstone turrets, will be completely gutted inside to make way a future use. When the gaming venue opens, the first floor of the 3½ story structure will be open for acoustic music concerts, wine and cheese receptions and weddings.
In the future, MGM envisions a restaurant, live entertainment and use of the roof.
Brian Packer, MGM Springfield’s vice president of development and construction, said the renovation of the armory proved more complex than first anticipated. While it appears solid from the outside, the structure, damaged in a 2011 tornado, is also fragile, Packer said.

MGM purchased more than a dozen structures on the 14-acre site, demolishing some but saving others such as the church and armory.
The church and armory are part of an outside plaza that will include a street-level “retail row” with shops and the movie theater on the second floor.
Mathis said MGM is negotiating with a national movie theater operator that would be new to the market. All screens will be outfitted with recliner seating, , he said.
In addition, Mathis said a regional jeweler has been signed for one of the retail spaces, but the name would be announced at a later date.
