CROATIA Road Trip from Split to Zadar - Pit stop: Krka National Park, Primosten beach & Trogir
CROATIA Road Trip from Split to Zadar CROATIA- Pit stop: Krka National Park, Primosten beach & Trogir
We decided to hire a car and take a road trip from Split to Zadar and check out the coast line of Croatia. Driving along the coast line was amazing and highly recommended. The back drop from Split to Zadar was absolutely gorgeous and driving through it was so beautiful! What made it even more breathtaking was the sun setting behind the mountains.
While driving to Zadar, we stopped by Trogir which was a little town recommended by our uber lady. She was quite surprised we never heard of it and really encouraged to go. SO glad we did because it was such a beautiful town surrounded by these gorgeous turquoise water.
After that,we went to Primosten beach we found as we wanted to stop along and have a swim. This was also another beautiful pit stop.
Our last pit stop was KRKA national park. One of the main reasons why we went to Zadar was to see this amazing water fall. We got there a bit after 4pm and we were able to swim at the base of the waterfall. I think this was a great time to go as the sun was still out but everyone was going home. We JUST made it onto the last bus at 8PM.

KRKA National Park is fantastic. You take a boat and sail into the park, and then at the bottom of all together 9 waterfalls, you can take a swim. It's cold BUT so much fun:) We did the hole loop hike and let me tell you, don't miss the top part with the shallow water, it's like an enchanted forrest:)
For dinner we headed to Sibenik by the coast and had an amazing dinner on a square right across from the cathedral:)
I love Croatia:)

Trogir & Krka, Two of the Best Day Trips from Split
Croatia has been a hot spot for the last couple of years thanks to a little show called.... Game of Thrones. Even if you aren't huge fans like we are, there's a reason these incredibly well preserved cities were chosen as their filming locations.
Split
Split is Croatia's second largest city, and the major jumping off point if you're planning a trip to the islands. But, spending a few days on the mainland will be worth your while, not only for the city of Split, but also two really awesome day trips.
Split is a great home base because of it's transportation options, from freeways, to trains, to ferries. But, make sure to spend a day wandering around the streets of old town, check out Diocletian's Palace, and all of the Game of Thrones spots. After you've made your way through the city, you will emerge at the Riva, a palm tree lined promenade running along the sea and by the harbor.
Trogir
Split airport is actually about 25km from the city of Split, but it's only 3k from this tiny gorgeous incredibly well preserved town called Trogir.
You can do it as a day trip from Split, but I would spend either your first or last night there since it's so close to the airport.
Heading straight to Trogir from the Airport, take the local bus # 37, and leave the rental car for later. It will only cost about $2.
Arriving in Trogir, you will find yourself just across the bridge from Old Town.
Trogir's medieval city center is a Unesco World Heritage site, with every path leading to a new interesting and incredibly well preserved site. Plus, the promenade along the water has some great restaurants with wonderful views.
The island is actually pretty small and can be seen in a couple of hours, which leads most people to make it a day trip from Split. We decided to spend the night, have the streets to ourselves first thing in the morning, and avoid the huge summer crowds.
The places you won't want to miss are the Radovan Portal, St. Lawerence Cathedral, the town loggia, and Kamerlengo fortress. You will recognize many of these sites because the city has been used as a filming location many times, most prominently in Game of Thrones.
Krka
Krka National Park, with it's famous waterfalls is just an hour drive from Split.
The easiest way to get to Skradinski buk, the waterfall you see in all of those instagram pictures, is from Skradin, where you can grab a ferry. It only leaves once an hour though, so make sure to check the schedule before you go.
After a short walk from the ferry dock, you'll find the incredibly gorgeous falls!
Per usual in Europe, the water is COLD! But, in the summer heat, it's not miserable. The entrance to the water is a bit steeper and rockier than I had expected, so be cautious if going with kids.
Make sure you check the return ferry times too because they also only leave once an hour, and the last ferry is probably earlier than you would expect.

Krka National Park + Split | Croatia
We'd never heard of Split, Croatia until we landed. It turned out to be one of the most magical ancient cities we've ever visited. Krka, the waterfalls in Krka National Park just outside of Split, were equally as magical. Split is an actual, lived in city even though it felt like a place you would need to pay admission to enter. It's a UNESCO world heritage site and we were lucky to stay inside of Diocletian's Palace. He was a Roman Emperor who built his retirement home right there in Split in 305AD.
Even though we wanted to spend every second inside of Split just soaking up the history, we pulled ourselves away for a day to swim in the waterfalls at Krka National Park. The water is cold and the current is strong, but Krka National Park is absolutely gorgeous.

CROATIA VLOG || TRAVEL CROATIA || VISITING KRKA NATIONAL PARK || KRKA VS PLITVICE || TOP THINGS TO DO CROATIA
We got a minibus from Split to Krka National Park and spent the day there. Although the guy who sold us the tour said we'd have a guided tour, we didn't - although you really didn't need one. I discuss why I was a little disappointed with Krka in comparison to Plitvice. It was still unbelievably gorgeous though!

KRKA NATIONAL PARK, CROATIA Day Trip Guide | Croatia Vlog
Krka National Park, Croatia vlog: On day 3 of our Croatia travel vlog series we visit Krka National Park as a day trip from Zadar. Krka National Park is one of the most famous national parks in Croatia, where you can hike around the lush nature trails and swim in Skradinksi Buk waterfall - one of seven waterfalls throughout the national park of Krka.
Krka National Park is a great day trip option as it is within fairly easy reach of Zadar. One option is to hire a car, however we opted to book through a tour agency in the Old Town, which provided us transport to Krka waterfalls and back. The bus dropped us in Skradin, where you can pay your admission fee and catch the boat over to the area of Krka National Park where you will find Skradinski Buk.
Once we had finished our day hiking and swimming in the waterfalls at Krka we returned to Zadar, where we spent a night enjoyed another beautiful sunset (and the incredible atmosphere that goes along with it) and had a delicious dinner. Zadar is a wonderful city at night, so we wanted to show you some of our evening in addition to our Krka National Park day trip.
