Russia Reveals New 'Invisible' Submarine The ‘Kronstadt’
A new Russian Lada-class diesel-electric attack submarine will defend naval bases and destroy other subs, while remaining ‘invisible’ to enemy radar, an official said. The ‘Kronshtadt’ submarine successfully conducted its maiden dive in St. Petersburg on Monday. The sub is said to be ‘invisible’ because its advanced equipment prevents it from being spotted underwater, Viktor Chirkov, Russia’s former Baltic Fleet commander and now a chief adviser at the state shipbuilding company said.

Russia: For the first time ever St. Petersburg's bridges lift in daylight for Navy Day rehearsals
Saint Petersburg's Blagoveschensky, Dvortsovy, Troitsky and Liteiny bridges were lifted during the daytime for the first time in their history, as the city held a Navy Day rehearsal, Sunday.
At least 15 ships and vessels of the Russian naval fleet were on display at Neva River, including Grachonok-class anti-saboteur ship P-424, corvette Stoykiy, and small missile ship “Serpukhov”.
Russia will mark Navy Day on July 30 with military parades all over Russia. The celebration dates back to the Soviet era, having been established in 1939. It was dissolved in 1980 but reinstated by Russian President Vladimir Putin in 2003.

As the largest diesel submarine of the Russian Navy was in the middle of the steppe in Togliatti
Of course, this is not a blind bare steppe and large Technical Museum AvtoVAZ, but nevertheless agree that the surroundings for a submarine very specific. At this point, it is already more than 10 years, but in June 2016 it began to drive excursions. Photos of this giant really impressive.
Submarine Project 307 B-641B Catfish was launched in the autumn of 1980, in the shipyard Red Sormovo. And in December he started to intercede combat service.
For several decades, the submarine managed to visit many of the Barents Sea to the Mediterranean. And he graduated from their combat path in his native Northern Fleet in 2001.
After the cancellation of the Navy decided to give a sweeping gesture boat museum. But the federal government is not allowed to just throw away public property.
As a result, the museum had to buy a boat. For the symbolic 768 thousand rubles. Symbolic because exactly the same submarine Moscow museum bought for 48 million rubles.
Some equipment, however, the military is still dismantled before transferring to the museum. Basically, that could be used as a spare for the other submarines of the same type.
From Kronstadt Togliatti Boat overcame the path length of 2246 km of mainly water using pontoons and tugs.
Overland submarine dragged just 5 km away, but even it took nine military trucks BAT.
Not surprisingly, given the size of the whopper: 91 meters in length, 14 in height and weighs about 2 tons.
His place at the museum on specially prepared for her concrete blocks submarine taken April 22, 2005.
By the way, this is the submarine in 1998 participated in the filming of the movie Peculiarities of National Fishing.

Flood in St. Petersburg
West and south-west winds from the Gulf of Finland with the speed of up to 10 m/s resulted in small floods in the center of St. Petersburg. The level of water in the river Neva is 111 cm higher than the normal water level. More than 300 trees were broken; dozens of road signs fell on the ground. The advertisement panel crashed a passenger minivan in the Primorskiy district. Fortunately, there are no injuries and casualties at the moment. The city escaped another dangerous flood thanks to the dam which was built in the Gulf of Finland. Floods are regular phenomena here in the autumn.

The history of Russia’s “Plague Fort” is colder and darker than the ice flows surrounding it in the murky waters of Saint Petersburg’s Neva Bay.
Also known as Fort Alexander I, it was originally built to defend the bay from foreign foes, however, the only action the fortification saw was the battle against the plague within its own walls.
Following the discovery of the plague pathogen Yersinia pestis in the late 1890s, named after the man who discovered it, Alexandre Yersin, the Russian government set up the “Special Commission for the Prevention and Cure of the Plague in Russia” at the fort.
After its reconstruction in 1899, the structure was fitted with heating, a lift for transporting lab animals and an incinerator for cremating them. Rabbits, guinea pigs, monkeys and horses were infected with the plague in the hope of extracting their blood serum to develop a vaccine. Despite strict hygiene control measures, there were two outbreaks of plague at the lab, one in 1904 and another in 1907, which resulted in two deaths and the fort’s grisly nickname.
By the end of 1917, most of the research assets were transferred to various research institutes around the country and the laboratory stopped functioning. Ownership of the fort was transferred to the Russian Navy, which used it as a storage facility. Since then the building has played host to rave parties in the 90s, two TV shows in the early 2000s and anyone brave enough to visit Russia’s infamous “Plague Fort” these days can take a boat excursion to the site.

クロンシュタットでお散歩! Кронштадт! Kronstadt!
Episode #27
クロンシュタットはドイツ語みたいな町の名前ですが、実はロシアにあります。ピョートル1世がスエーデンから島を盗んでロシアの物にしました。サンクトペテルブルグから30kmほどはなれたとこにあります。
Kronstadt is a historic town of Kotlin Island, which is located some 30km west of Saint Petersburg, Russia, and is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site. We saw the Naval Cathedral then went for a walk around town. There were heaps of old abandoned buildings that needs renovation and restoration. A charming place - feels like a small country town, and there is nice fresh air. It was rather quiet and chilled with not many tourists, unlike Peterhof and other small towns outside Petersburg.

Saint Petersburg Travel Guide - A Russian Beauty Experience
Saint Petersburg Travel Guide - A Russian Beauty Experience
Saint Petersburg is one of the most breathtakingly beautiful places on earth and virtually any building in the large historic centre, threaded with canals dotted with baroque bridges, can be considered an attraction—and indeed, it is a UNESCO World Heritage site. This is a magical city, with a long list of major attractions. Its Hermitage Museum, housed in the Winter Palace of the Romanov Dynasty, is both one of the world's greatest and oldest collections of art, treasure, and antiquities, and one of its most beautiful buildings.
Founded by Peter the Great in 1703, in the territory of the Inkeri town of Nien which was a capital of Finno-Ugric province Ingermanland which was part of Novgorod Republic, and Sweden. The creation of westward-looking Peter the Great, St Petersburg was intended from its inception as a display of imperial Russia’s growing status in the world. Fine-tuned by Peter’s successors, who employed a host of European architects to add fabulous palaces and cathedrals to the city’s layout, St Petersburg grew to be the Romanovs’ showcase capital and Russia’s first great, modern city. The capital may have moved back to Moscow following the revolution, but despite all that history has thrown at it, St Petersburg still feels every bit the imperial city with its historic heart largely frozen in time.
Whether you’re cruising along the elegant canals, crossing one of the 342 bridges in the city, or just watching them being raised in summer over the mighty Neva River at night to allow ships to pass through, you’re never far from water in St Petersburg. This has earned the city unsurprising comparisons to Venice, but the similarities don’t stop there: walking around the historic centre will reveal canals lined by Italianate mansions and broken up by striking plazas adorned with baroque and neoclassical palaces. North of the city centre there are also pristine beaches fringing the Gulf of Finland.
St Petersburg is an almost unrivalled treasure trove of art and culture. You can spend days in the Hermitage, seeing everything from Egyptian mummies to Picassos, while the Russian Museum, spread over four sumptuous palaces, is perhaps the best collection of Russian art in the world. Add to this world-class ballet, opera and classical concerts at the illustrious performance halls, and a slew of big-name music festivals over the summer months, and you won’t be stuck for cultural nourishment. Contemporary art is also available at the fantastic Erarta Museum, the Street Art Museum and in the buzzing gallery scene.
Summer White Nights are legendary: the northern sun barely dips below the horizon. Revelry begins in May, with parks and gardens greening with flowering trees, and peaks in mid-June when performing arts festivals pack out concert halls and the entire city seems to party all night long. It's the busiest time to visit and the crowds can often be overwhelming. But Piter, as the city is affectionately known, is just as beautiful in early spring, golden autumn and even winter: the skies may be leaden and the ground covered in snow, but the culture still dazzles and delights.
Saint Petersburg's metro system is the second largest in Russia, after that of Moscow. The metro is a cheap and effective way to get around the city, and also a major tourist attraction due to the beautiful decorations of the stations.
