Kruševo - Republic of Macedonia (1)
Kruševo is a small but picturesque town. Located in South-Western Macedonia, Kruševo is situated at an altitude of 1350 m and in this way the highest town in the Balkans. The chance guest will not be wrong if they stayle Kruševo as a museum of old architecture. The town is full of old and more recent houses built in the style of old Macedonian architecture.
Each year on Ilinden day, the town wears a festival look. On the balconies and at the windows of all the houses shaggy hand woven blankets (jambolii) in all kinds of colours are exhibited. Kruševo proudly preserves the memory of the renowned Ilinden Uprising of the Macedonian people on 2nd August, 1903. In this town, the Ilinden insurrectionists established the Kruševo Republic which only ten days later was suppressed in blood by the Turks.
The Makedonium monument of the Ilinden Uprising is to be found in Kruševo. There are also a number of museums of the Ilinden Uprising, a Gallery of 19th century icons, and a memorial gallery to the master of modern Macedonian painting, Nikola Martinovski, who was born in this town.
A few kilometres away from the town is the historical site of Mečkin Kamen, where the Ilinden insurrectionists fought the decisive battle against the Ottoman army. In the surrounding's there is also an artificial lake, and Kruševo continues to be a well known centre and a climatic health resort.

Krusevo 2016
Mentioned in documents from the 15th century, Krusevo is a living museum, famous for its traditional architecture, cultural sites, and legacy as the site of the great 1903 Ilinden uprising against Ottoman domination. The rebellion failed, but its memory is cherished in Macedonia even today, as a symbol of the national struggle for freedom and democracy; while it lasted only 10 days, the Krusevo Republic of revolutionary leader Nikola Karev represented a desire for self-rule under a modern European political system. Today an enormous monument on the hill above Krusevo marks the elusive dream of the Ilinden revolutionaries. Owing to its high elevation (1300 meters or 4,400 feet), Krusevo is also one of Macedonia’s prime winter sports destinations. Yet this same quality also makes this pine-forested getaway a comfortable destination in summer, when the Krusevo air stays cooler and more pure than in the arid lowlands. The memory of Macedonian artist, Nikola Martinoski, is preserved in a traditional-style house/gallery that contains a huge collection of Martinoski’s paintings and drawings, as well as various ethnological artifacts that bring 19th century Macedonia to life. Krusevo was,as well, the hometown of Macedonian most famous pop-singer Tose Proeski (1981-2007).It is the highest town in Macedonia, situated at an altitude of over 4,429 feet (1350 m) above sea level.

▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
Exploring Macedonia was one of the most surprising and rewarding trips we have ever made. It had to be our first video on YouTube. We arrived in Ohrid and rented a cute little Peugeot to drive around this beautiful country full of lush and untouched nature. The view to the lake was ever-present, with tall mountains surrounding it on all sides, inviting us to explore and go up. And so we did. First ourselves, by car, and then also with our Sharky Sparky, a DJI Spark drone, to capture the beauty from above. Exploring never looked so easy for us. We could see so much more from above, from different perspectives and in unique ways. But we were in Macedonia to travel the country, for a road trip, to see as much as possible. So we headed north, to the Mavrovo National Park, passing by the St. Jovan Bigorski Monastery and the Nur Mosque in Trebishte, both facing each other in a centuries-old yet immovable stand-off. The windy road along a fresh stream made for scenic views, we probably did not capture how incredibly beautiful it really was. Passing by lakes and valleys, resting where we could overlook the entire beauty of this scenic country, we continued our way along to the surroundings of the capital, to the Matka Canyon, the Kozjak Lake and the Millennium Cross. They form perfect vantage points to marvel at the walls of the canyon or the endless horizon. Bright colors, green forests and even snow-covered mountain tips in the far distance. Sadly, the road was coming to an end. And lastly, we arrived to Skopje itself. The city has a quite different vibe from what we saw before. New yet traditional, Skopje is an interesting mix of cultures. We were reminded of the mosque and monastery earlier on. But in Skopje, you just need to cross a bridge to dive into a new culture.

MY BEAUTIFUL MACEDONIA-Nacionalen Park Pelister 19.03.2017
Pelister National Park is a national park in the Municipality of Bitola, Republic of Macedonia. The park is located in the Baba Mountain massif and covers an area of 171.5 square kilometres (66.2 sq mi). The altitude of the park varies between 927 and 2,601 m (3,041 and 8,533 ft) above sea level and is filled with exquisite flora and fauna. Among flora elements, the presence is especially significant of the five-needle pine molica, Pinus peuce - a unique species of Cenozoic age being present on only a few mountains in the Balkan Peninsula. The beauty of the landscape is enhanced by the diverse wildlife: bears, roe deer, wolves, chamois, deer, wild boars, rabbits, several species of eagles, partridges, red-billed choughs, and the endemic Macedonian Pelagonia trout.
Info and features
Pelister is the oldest and second largest national park in Republic of Macedonia after Mavrovo. It is one of the leading tourist areas in the country, since it is a well-known ski resort, along with Ohrid, Prespa, Dojran, Popova Šapka, and Kruševo. From Pelister one can see the Pelagonia valley, Lake Prespa, mountains Nidže, Galičica, Jakupica, and the city of Bitola. Interestingly, Pelister is one of the most southern mountains in the Balkans that has an alpine character. Pelister is also known for its two mountain lakes, which are called Pelister's Eyes. The Big lake is 2,218 metres (7,277 ft) above the sea level while the Small lake is 2,180 metres (7,150 ft) high. Here are the sources of many rivers. The climate in Pelister National Park is diverse.
