Picture of a Cretan Village (Βαφες)
Vafes (Βαφες) is a quiet village in the foothills of the Lefka Ori Mountains of Crete. It is one of the beautiful string of pearls villages which follow the contours of these hills. Vafes provides an excellent example of typical island village dwellings with tiled roofs of varying heights and slopes, Village children sing the national anthem at the annual Kryonerda Cave remembrance.
