Kudumari Falls is a refreshing sight that awaits trekkers who are adventurous enough to explore the forests of Western Ghats near Kundapura. The waterfall is located in a deep forest near a village called Chaktikal under Kundapura taluk of Udupi district in Karnataka. It lies at a distance of about 93 km from the town of Udupi and about 43 km from Murudeshwar.
The waterfall is also known as Chaktikal Falls and Belligunndi Falls. It is a popular destination for the adventure seekrs.
The attraction of Kudumari Falls, Udupi
Kudumari Falls is located in an isolated place, deep within the forests of the Western Ghats. The natural waterfall stands in the midst of scenic beauty. On one side of the waterfall the magnificent coast line of the Arabian Sea is visible. On the other side of the waterfall the green mountains of the Western Ghats beckon visitors to witness the beauty of nature. In between the green mountains the white waterfall dances down like a thin silver line making its way among the overwhelming greenery.
The waterfall has a height of about 300 feet. The waterfall is considered to be among the prime attractions of Kundapura. The beautiful town of Kundapura is full of tourist attractions that include mountain ranges, ancient temples, beaches, options for adventure activities, etc. Kudumari waterfall stands out as a tourist attraction that is a fine blend of adventure and natural beauty.
Trekking to the fascinating Kudumari Falls, Udupi
The Kudumari Falls is situated in the lap of nature. It can only be reached by trekking through the dense forest. For trekkers, Kudumari Falls is a dream destination. It involves a trek of about 4 km through the scenic forests of Western Ghats. The trek also involves jumping over rocks of various sizes while proceeding towards the waterfall.
The waterfall can be accessed by an alternate way too. The bottom of the waterfall can be reached by trekking along the stream from the coastal side. However, this trekking route is an option only during the post monsoon months. This is because the water level recedes during those months and it becomes possible for people to trek through that area. But the trek route through the forest is the preferred route by most trekkers.
kudumari falls
Kudumari Falls - also known as Chaktikal and Belligunndi falls is at a village called Chaktikal, 100 Kms Udupi towards Murdeshwar.
Shirur falls - twin show of Kusalli and Kudumari.avi
Shirur falls - one known as Kosalli falls / Gudanagundi and the other Kudumari / Belligundi falls.
It is at Shirur 90 KMs north to Udupi on the way to Murdeshwar. A right deviation from Shirur for about 15 KMs takes you to Kusalli where the twin falls located. Here I have captured the falls roaring and gushing down the western ghats during the monsoon (July 2012). The two falls are around 20 KMs apart and reaching the first one requires trekking for almost 2.5 KMs inside the forest (leach infested during monsoon) while the other 4 KMs, both medium level trekking.

#At a distance of 43 Kms from Murudeshwar, 93 Kms from Udupi & 17 Kms from Shiroor (on Udupi - Karwar road), Kudumari Waterfalls (also known as Chaktikal Falls) is a magnificent waterfall located in deep forest near Chaktikal village.
The trek route is considered to be very dangerous and not usually recommended for regular visitors (about 2 Hrs trek two-way). Nov - Dec is the best time to trek this place.
Kudumari Falls / Belligundi Falls.AVI
From Mangalore proceed 150 KMs via Udupi and Kundapur to Shirur. From here take a right turn to Tudalli (14 Kms), ahead and turn right to Athyadi (3 Kms). You can drive for another Km to the left from where the difficult trek of 3 Kms with an average elevation of 30 degrees in the wild Western Ghats begins to reach the base of this Kudumari, also called Belligundi / Chakthikal falls. The path is almost non-existent and there is 200% chance of getting lost. So get a guide and a FAB. If you can reach the base early in the day, try to climb the entire ghat to reach the top. Better idea is to start from the top and descend. Reach Kattinkaru either from Kollur or from Shimoga - Sagar - Kargal. Another route is Thirthalli - Hulikal - Nagara - Kattinkaru. The view from the top and even around the base is breath-taking. Once again, don't go without a guide.
Kabbinale Honnegundi Falls | Exploring Western Ghats|100 Km Ride|Cycling Series
#cyclinginIndia#cyclingvideo#Kabbinale Honnegundi Falls
On 19 October 2018 on the event of Dushhera leave I decided to explore my back yard which is the great western ghats. And with intension to do a 100km ride in a day left from my house at around 0700hrs and cycled towards the Kabbinale Honnegundi FallsThe preparation was done one day before and with energy bars and snacks packed I was ready to face the long ride. With my experience riding in the ghats last year I was expecting a serene nature view. The weather in morning was pleasant but as the day progressed it became more humid and at one point while returning I was almost dehydrated. Took some rest in Ajekar and thanks to thunderstorm the weather cooled down. Finally after a total trip of 12 hours I was back at home. The video shows you glimpse of my journey and I hope you will enjoy it.
