Kufstein is a town in the Austrian state of Tyrol, the administrative seat of Kufstein District. With a population of about 18,400, it is the second largest Tyrolean town after the state capital Innsbruck. The greatest landmark is Kufstein Fortress, first mentioned in the 13th century. It is located in the Tyrolean Unterland region on the river Inn, at the confluence with its Weißache and Kaiserbach tributaries, near the border to Bavaria, Germany.

Die Stadt Kufstein liegt auf beiden Seiten des Flusses Inn. Kufstein wird von 2 Bergen umrahmt. Dem Pendling und dem Maistaller Berg in westlicher Richtung, sowie dem Thierberg in nördlicher Richtung. Kufstein liegt auf rund 500 Meter über Meereshöhe am Ausgang des Alpen Inntales und schließt, nur wenige Kilometer entfernt an das bayerische Alpenvorland ant. Im Gebiet der Gemeinde liegt auch das Kaisertal. Das Kaisertal war das bis 2008 das letzte Tal Österreichs ohne Straßenanbindung. Das Kaisertal war bis 1. Juni 2008 nur zu Fuß zu erreichen. Nach langem politischen Debatten wurde der Anna-Tunnel zwischen Kufstein und Ebbs erbaut.
Innerhalb des Stadtgebietes münden einige Bäche in den Inn. Die beiden größten Bächzuflüsse sind auf der rechten Seite des Inns sind die Weißache im Süden und der Kaiserbach, der die Stadt im Norden begrenzt. Weitere Bäche sind der Mitterndorferbach als auch der Kienbach und der Kreuzbach.Die Zuflüsse uf linken Seite ist der Rochenbach und der Morsbach. Innerhalb des Stadtgebietes vom Kufstein sind Hügel und kleinere Berge auszumachen. Hier sind der Zellerberg, der Festungsberg, der Kalvarienberg, auch Heldenhügel genannt. Auch der Lausbichel liegt innerhalb der Stadt Kufstein. Links im Inntal finden wir den Stimmersee, den Thiersee, den Pfrillsee, sowie den Längsee, den Hechtsee und den Egelsee. Es gibt noch zwei Seen, den Stimmersee und den Thiersee die allerdings zu Nachbargemeinden von Kufstein gehören.

Today was a very lazy morning. We woke up to a full sky of rain clouds. We decided to change our plans and go to Kufstein and Hall in Tirol. It was a great choice! The Kufstein Fortress was amazing! We loved walking around in the history of it!
