Kukeldash Madrasa Uzbekistan
Kukeldash madrassah
Kukeldash madrassah is a real pearl of medieval architecture of Tashkent and one of the brightest places of interest. Some hundreds years ago this madrassah looked over cob constructions symbolizing greatness and power of its author. This picturesque construction was built in 1568-1569 on a mount close to city walls. The manager of construction works of madrassah was Dervish-Khan, a vizir of Tashkent ruler Barak-Khan, who was nicknamed as Kukeldash meaning foster-brother of khan. In line of authority, derived from Genghis-Khan, one of the most important places of court was called with kukeldash word.

A External view of Kukeldash Madrassa near Chorsu Bazaar in Tashkent
Sunday(8/9/2019) Kulkeldash Madrasah in Tashkent :- (Wikepedia)Kukeldash Madrasah is a medieval madrasa in Tashkent, located close to Chorsu Bazaar and Chorsu Metro station. It was built around 1570 by the Shaybanid Dynasty of rulers.
The madrasah is built of yellow brick, and has a traditional square shape with a big portal and an inner yard. The walls around the inner yard contain cells inhabited by the students. The portal is 20 metres (66 ft) high and contains two towers at its sides.
In 1830-1831 the first floor of the madrasah was demolished, and the bricks were used to build the nearby Beklarbegi Madrasah. It was later restored. The madrasah was damaged by the earthquake in 1868 and subsequently reconstructed in 1902-1903. It was reconstructed again in the 1950s and became one of only several religious buildings which survived the 1966 Tashkent earthquake.
The madrasah was converted into a caravanserai in the 18th century, then it served as a fortress. In the 20th century it was a museum, first of atheism, and later of folk music. In the 1990s, the building was made a madrasah again. :- Seafarer/Blogger/Traveller Rudolph.A.Furtado

The madrasa is located right next to an extremely busy road and the hustle and bustle of Tashkent's largest market, Chorsu Bazaar, but hopefully this cinemagraph gives a feel for the peace and calm of Kukeldash - just gently swaying trees and chirping birds to be seen and heard! =]

Uzbekistan /Tashkent.(Capital of Uzbekistan) Part 5
Welcome to my travelchannel. On my channel you can find almost 1000 films of more than 70 countries.
See the playlist on my youtube channel.Enjoy!
Tashkent - The Capital of Uzbekistan
The main city of Uzbekistan is a huge metropolis with a population of over 3 million people. The city is lined with a grid of straight and wide streets and avenues, decorated with emerald green parks, gardens, fountains imbued with crystal strands...
This wonderful city is a real embodiment of the modern elegance that is inherent in many world capitals. At the same time it remains to be an oriental city. Tashkent has its own unique flavor. It combines medieval buildings as if descended from the pages of old oriental tales, elegant European architecture from the period of the Turkestan governor-generalship, standard concrete boxes of the Soviet era and, finally, glittering skyscrapers of glass and concrete (modern business centers and banks).
Tashkent, Uzbekistan -Tashkent Restaurants and Cafes
Tashkent cafes and restaurants present delicious national Uzbek as well as European, Middle Eastern and Russian cuisines.
Old part of the city is the center of traditional local cuisine in Tashkent. Between Kukeldash Madrassah and Chorsu bazaar you may find a great number of chaykhanas (café terrace with ayvans), cafes and eating houses, where you can snack a kebab, shaurma, Uzbek somsa and etc. Also you can try national dishes in family-run Uzbek houses. Close to the Yunus-Obod tennis court there is the huge Pilaf center (Osh Markazi), where you may taste delicious wedding Tashkent pilaf.
Tashkent restaurants amaze with European service level and food quality. You will be surprised with wide range of restaurants with Chinese, Italian, English, Japanese, Spanish and other cuisine. Whatever restaurant you choose for any lunch, dinner or meeting, you will enjoy not only tasty dishes but also the stylish interior, food presentation and perfect service.

Hello Uzbekistan
Hiii there!!
After few weeks of break new video is here and this time we traveled to one more post-Soviet country - Uzbekistan (Tashkent).
You can still feel the spirit of the Soviet Union there, which makes this place special for the person, who also grew up in this kind of atmosphere. So if you are 80-90s kid who grew up during the Soviet time you would love it! Outside of Tashkent nature is amazing so suggestion is also to do a small road trip around Uzbekistan! (we also plan to visit Samarkand and Buhara)
Below I will list the places we visited and provide some small feedback about each place for those who are interested.
Hope you will like the video!
Have a wonderful day and week.
I LOVE YOU GUYS!

! Before moving towards places I want to mention that when you exchange money in Tahskent you should be prepared to get big pack of money for 100$ that will not fit into your wallet :D And also try to exchange money but do not pay with your credit card (currency rate differs a lot and you will lose lots of money)
Exchange rate (1$- 7 000 SOM); Credit Card (1$ - 3600$)
Chorsu Bazaar - I have never seen so many fresh vegetables and fruits. Definitely MUST visit place when in Tashkent. Everything is super cheap! We took so many fruits, spices, vegetables and payed only 13$.
Kukeldash Madrasah - religious school, where they learn about Islam. Suggestion- do not come during the pray times, because rooms will be closed and you will see only outside.
Alisher Navoi National Park - my favorite park in Tashkent! The atmosphere is so relaxing and as I said previously it had the Soviet Union. They had old attractions from Soviet Union that I as a kid adored!
Teleshayakh Mosque - interesting fact about this mosque, women cannot pray there... only men can enter this mosque. That is why I could not enter it...
Independence Square (Mustakillik Square)- beautiful big presidential house next to the square and green park.
Charvak Reservoir/lake - the view from up is more beautiful when you actually get to the lake. It was a bit too noisy and lots of strange people around, who were staring really badly :D Plus the lake was super cold (could not swim there) and the shore was with big stones, so you could not walk there without flip flops.
Restaurants:
Karavan - there was a restaurant chain, where Karavan was the first restaurant that opened few years ago and that was one of the best restaurants I have ever been. It has traditional Uzbek food, with amazing, cozy design and 100% service. Plus it was quite cheap for the amount of food we ate! We took around 6-7 different dishes and had dessert, plus drank some beer and payed 30$ in total...
Gruzinskiy Dvorik - one more restaurant of this chain, but serve only Georgian food (khchapuri, xinkhali etc). Also good quality food and relatively cheap prices for the portions. There were other restaurants in this chain with italian, asian cusine, as well as the irish pub! The most iinteresting fact is that all of them were in oneee street!
Yapona Mama - the biggest amount of various sushi I have ever seen. and again cheap! for all we ate we paid 20$.

Lyabi Hauz, or Lyabi Khauz, is the name of the area surrounding one of the few remaining hauz that have survived in the city of Bukhara. Until the Soviet period there were many such ponds, which were the city's principal source of water, but they were notorious for spreading disease and were mostly filled in during the 1920s and 1930s. The Lyab-i Hauz survived because it is the centrepiece of a magnificent architectural ensemble, created during the 16th and 17th centuries, which has not been significantly changed since. The Lyab-i Hauz ensemble, surrounding the pond on three sides, consists of the Kukeldash Madrasah

I crossed the Pacific Ocean on sailing boats as crew and visited The Unites States, Mexico, Costa Rica, Panama, The Marquesas Islands, Tahiti, The Kingdom Of Niue, Rarotonga, Tonga, Fiji, some other small islands and ended up in New Zealand. In New Zealand I cycled 3.000km from the northernmost point to the southernmost point. After that I rode a motorbike from Vietnam to Laos and Cambodia. Recently I converted a Rusian 4x4 UAZ Buhanka oldtimer into a campervan and am driving around Central Asia with my puppy dog.
