Welcome to Kunde Family Winery
For over a century, five generations of the Kunde Family have farmed our 1,850 acre-estate in the heart of Sonoma Valley—a truly remarkable legacy in the modern age of California winemaking. A fervent, forward-thinking vision of land stewardship and sustainability began over one hundred years ago, and has been shaped with each successive generation.
Today, Kunde Family Winery is still family owned and operated with a hands-on team of 4th and 5th generation family members at the helm. At the end of the day, every decision we make, every wine we craft, and every experience we provide honors the legacy of founder Louis Kunde, who emigrated from Germany and purchased the original Wildwood Vineyards ranch at the turn of the century in 1904. Cresting the second century was a profound milestone for the family. Moving forward, we remain committed to innovation and state-of-the-art facilities, while also maintaining a deep, personal commitment to sustainable winegrowing and preserving the land for generations to come, naturally!

Wine Country, Kenwood, Sonoma County
My favorite scenery spot in the world. Right across Highway 12 from the Kenwood Inn. It's the most beautiful patchwork scenery, I think the vines are Kunde Estates. I love where I live! (I wish the quality was better but it's never as beautiful on tape as in real life)

Our day in Sonoma Wine Country! - April 2016
Our day in Sonoma! We were able to hit a total of 4 wineries (ACKK!)! Call us crazy, but it was a really good treat! :) We had a great start to the morning at Ledson Winery, then went to Landmark Winery after our driver had recommended this place to us to kill some time. We then went to Hanzell Winery (MUST!) and ended at Jacuzzi Winery.

Bartholomew Park Winery
Lately I've been riding my bike up to the Bartholomew Park Winery and today (May 23, 2009) I took some video to show how pretty it is there!
Bartholomew Park Winery is situated in the heart of the 400-acre Bartholomew Memorial Park in Sonoma. A visit to the winery includes a sampling of Bartholomew Parks premium wines, access to vineyard-view picnic grounds, hiking trails, and a museum chronicling the propertys illustrious history and current grape growing practices.
The picnic grounds at Bartholomew Park overlook the vineyards and a replica of Agoston Haraszthys Palladian Villa which was destroyed by fire around the turn of the century.
In the hills behind the winery are approximately three miles of marked hiking trails. A variety of indigenous California vegetation -- oak groves, manzanita, madrone, redwood-shaded fern grottos, and fields of spring wildflowers -- provides visitors with a generous sampling of the visual delights and natural beauty of Sonoma County. On a clear day, the view from Bartholomew Parks trails extends to San Francisco.
The Palladian Villa is open Saturday and Sunday from 12 p.m. until 3 p.m.

Landmark Damaris Reserve Chardonnay 2008
Landmark Vineyards may have been founded in the Windsor area of Sonoma County in 1974, but its roots stretch all the way back to 1838. It was in Grand Detour, Illinois of that year that John Deere invented the steel plow -- an event that revolutionized the business of agriculture.
In 1989, John Deere's great great granddaughter, Damaris Deere Ford, following the family tradition in agriculture, relocated Landmark Vineyards from Windsor, to a piece of land at the base of Sugarloaf Mountain in the Sonoma Valley. Damaris convinced her son, Michael Deere Colhoun and his wife Mary to move from the east coast and join her as partners in the winery.
In 1993, they hired world-renowned consulting enologist Helen Turley to work with winemaker, Eric Stern. This collaboration led to some excellent winemaking. Under Eric's direction, Landmark's wines have consistently received rave reviews from the wine writers. The signature wine, the Overlook Chardonnay, has appeared on The Wine Spectator Top 100 list 7 times since 1997.
The names of Landmark's wines reflect their John Deere heritage. Landmark and Overlook were family homes. The Grand Detour Pinot Noir is named for the location of John Deere's blacksmithing shop in Illinois. And with a nod to the beginning of it all, the Syrah is aptly named Steel Plow.
Let's Visit Magnificent Ledson Vineyards, Santa Rosa, CA...Black Magic Pocket Cinema Camera
Ledson Winery, Vineyards & Castle is located just West of Santa Rosa in a beautiful valley. The most striking feature of this winery is the amazing castle, situated right among the rows and rows of wine grapes. It's a must see if you are in Central Sonoma County and enjoy visiting the various storied wineries in this area. Here is a link to the winery showing history, location, hours and days of operation, as well as some very interesting history:
The video was filmed on the Black Magic Pocket Cinema Camera. This is truly a unique camera in that it's sensor is able to gather in over 13 stops of dynamic range. Why is this important? Because the amount of data being absorbed by the camera's sensor is several times larger than that taken in by a standard DSLR camera. This means the files are exceptionally large. Shooting in this style is called shooting RAW footage. The camera makes no attempt to compose a video, frame by frame, using what is called a codec to pull what it's designers want it to see. Thus, when the video from this cinema camera is first seen in editing, it is flat and it's up to the color grader to pull the color combinations he or she wants. This post-production control, color grading, is extremely difficult to master as red green blue must be blended, along with white balance, to achieve an aesthetically pleasing video. Of course the real attractive feature of this camera, and the one which appeals to film makers is the final product of editing and coloring. If done correctly, it will appear as a cinema type movie.
For this video, since it was shot in RAW format, it has been graded in Davinci resolve 12.5. A Canon Rec 709 lut was used. Here is a list of the lenses used:
Rokinon T1.5 85mm Cine lens
Olympus Zuiko 17mm 1:1.8
Olympus Zuiko 45mm 1:1.8
Olympus Zuiko 12-40mm 1:28
Olympus 75-300mm 1:48-6.7

The Money Fix - A Documentary for Monetary Freedom
Money is just information, a way we measure what we trade, nothing of value in itself. And we can make it ourselves, to work as a complement to conventional money. It's just a matter of design.
Money is at the intersection of nearly every aspect of modern life. Most of us take the monetary system for granted, but it has a profound and largely misunderstood influence on our lives. 'THE MONEY FIX' is a feature-length documentary exploring our society's relationship with the almighty dollar.
The film documents three types of alternative money systems, all of which help solve economic problems for the communities in which they operate.
'THE MONEY FIX' examines economic patterning in both the human and the natural worlds, and through this lens we learn how we can empower ourselves by redesigning the lifeblood of the economy at the community level.
