Kundavada Lake (Week 7, Day 1 & 2) The Final Mission: Not Quite :-)

It was Sunday. The air was cold and my sorry bones & flesh were cowering. I had to scoot myself early today by 6:00 AM as I came yesterday (Saturday) by 7:15 AM. Making up for lost time is the way to be. Although I was alone, I didn't mind as it was for a noble cause. Sometime you’ll feel good to venture out into the horizon that keeps your sanity in check. When I was prepping, people were simply staring at me and when I looked into their eyes with a piercing gaze of pity; they looked away hastily. They are ashamed, pathetic, and downright guilty as charged.

Finally, I felt privileged to have been supported by fortunes and circumstances. Didn't give up and have no regrets. I cleaned up one section today and gave a call to Samarth, a cheery youngster who came running for a cause. He & I took the garbage carrying in his two-wheeler and went near “Bakkeshwara School”. We felt glad to find the garbage truck who took our confiscated trash without a question. Bless them. Thanks to Sam, the mission came full circle for the day. It’s not over till it’s over.

Wake up city dwellers. Rich pricks to degenerate low-lives; you live in the same place too. You utilize and don’t realize. You don’t shit where you eat right? People spit, urinate, and bring their pups to defecate. Get rid of all your sins indecent civilians before it’s too late. No point exaggerating now!

To be honest, we didn't carry the trash bag due to lack of transportation. When I came in the morning; it was scattered and checked. Utter disregard for the service. Pathetic in-humanistic behavior at its best if you ask me! No wonder we are living in this so called nation surrounded by the same people who misuse the freedom to their advantage.

Volunteering has taught me good morale on where I stand in life. If you don’t believe me; I dare you to try if you have the guts as it will transform your inner being!

Kundavada Lake (Week 5, Day 2)

New Year this time was something special. I & Gautham, a dear friend of mine lend his hand with me although it was a day of celebration. His time I humbly respect. He postponed his homely chores and came just to clean the lake. I feel so much gratitude.

We didn't want to sit still and mope around like most do. Many are into making money and not contributing for the well being of the nation. If all will turn their cheeks around then who will be responsible?

Mr. Nagaraj was one of the civilian who used to walk past all the garbage. He confessed that he had a thought of doing something good but nobody was there with him. It is understood that we sometimes feel alienated by people and we feel lost by becoming the one among the herd.

He chose to help somehow. We respect that.

A leader cannot be the one who has to work for his nation but us civilians too.

We had no vehicles to carry the garbage. We had to carry that with our arms stretched out by holding it like a baby.

We head over to Bakkeshwara School hoping to find a container but there weren't any.

Paura Karmikaru were minding their business and we asked is it possible to take the garbage.

The old lady asked Rs. 20/- for tea but we bargained for Rs. 10/-

Although I was against handing cash for a good thing to happen, but it was New Year and Rs. 10/- was worth spending for to make someone feel good.

Kundavada Lake Week 4, Day 2

Today, I alone managed to pile couple of bags and stuffed it in a synthetic gunny bag. Many bystanders were stopping by and inquiring what I was doing and what do I do for a living?

One civilian wished me 'All the best. Thank you sir.

Majority of the people simply stroll by as if its none of their business.

Two of the nicest people in their early 50's stopped and asked me to invite them next time onward. Felt good to have more helping hands.

Thank you for your encouragement.

Another youngster like me named Akshata promised to take the ton of garbage and dispose it into the container.

Mighty thanks to her.

Yet another day of successful garbage pickings. Feeling gratitude and elated. More things to come.

Kundavada Lake (Week 5, Day 1)

Today, I was not feeling shorthanded with the mission possible at Kundavada Lake, Davangere. I invited people whom I was well accustomed with and they humbly accepted, came and took an action for a just cause. Avinash, Gautham, Kiran & Akshata were able to help in cleaning up the vicinity of the lakes. We managed to stack up 5-6 large synthetic gunny bags and dispose it off in a container few kilometers away.

Many people stopped by and thanked us to for the job well done. It’s not over till it’s over. Their appreciation is a slight encouragement for us. We did tell them to intimate the authorities in charge so that they do their job which they were supposed to do in the first place. Rest is history. We kept picking and putting it safely in the garbage bag. Fortunately, these synthetic gunny bags have aided us to carry the mammoth waste.

Akshata & Samarth (a commerce student of ARG College) helped us to dispose half of the waste safely.

Avinash, Gautham, Kiran & I were able to take care of the other half by two wheeler.

ಅದು ಶತಮಾನಗಳ ಹಿಂದಿನ ಕೆರೆ.. ಆ ಊರಿಗೆ ತಾಯಿಯಾಗಿತ್ತು.. ಅಲ್ಲಿನ ಜನ್ರಿಗೆ ಬದುಕು ನೀಡಿತ್ತು.. ತುತ್ತಿನ ಚೀಲ ತುಂಬಿಸಿತ್ತು.. ಹಸಿರ ಬದುಕು.. ನೆಮ್ಮದಿಯ ಜೀವನ ನೀಡಿತ್ತು.. ಆದ್ರೆ ಇವತ್ತು ಅದೇ ಕೆರೆ.. ಕಣ್ಣೀರಿಡುತ್ತಿದೆ.. ಆಕ್ರಂದಿಸುತ್ತಿದೆ.. ಬದುಕಿಸಿ ಅಂತ ಬೇಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತಿದೆ.. ಯಾಕೆ ಗೊತ್ತಾ.

Kundavanda Lake (Week 3, Day 2)

We are an army of two. Now we got the third. Hope!

Kiran, one of the heartiest people around harihar volunteered with us. He has done awareness programs on many occasions and has helped his native (harihar) before. We always feel humbled and in gratitude when people tag along without poking their inner conscience.

People treat the lake as a safe haven of parties, littering dump, urinal, spittoon, and even for sex in unannounced hours.

It really shows where the people who are in charge and own authority are really at. Shame on you!

It was another day, another vendetta for the just cause. We began our march 3 weeks ago and it has been a transforming experience. People have no clue when it comes to the joy and uplifting feeling one could get from volunteering. They are really dormant; living in their own lies and deception. Surrounded by blind beliefs, they complain about reforms when they could have done a remarkable contribution by keeping their mouths shut and putting words to action. They are least bothered to meddle into the betterment. Be it the city, people and our nature.

Lest we forget!

This is not a rant but this feeling of disgust towards people will be omnipresent. We have initiated a pathway to glory. We will persevere by our motives.

Rest assured, this is sincere!
