Mt. Kuno Toshogu Shrine (Kuno-zan Toshogu), Temples of Japan, Shizuoka Prefecture
Mt. Kuno Toshogu Shrine or Kuno-zan Toshogu Shrine is located on Mt. Kuno in Shizuoka Prefecture, Japan.
Kuno-zan Toshogu is dedicated to the deified spirit of Tokugawa Ieyasu, the greatest shogun in Japanese history. It was built in 1617 by the second shogun, Hidetada, the third son of Tokugawa Ieyasu, here on Mt. Kuno.
There are thirteen structures within the sacred grounds. All of them are the original structures, and have been designated as important cultural properties by the Japanese Government.
There are two ways to get to the temple, one by walk, climbing about 1159 stone steps or by taking the ropeway from Nihondaira Bus Stop across from the shrine.
It is said that as you climb up the 1159 steps leading to the sacred grounds, you are purified by the magical power. In the sacred grounds, as many people have discovered, you can meet the spirit of Tokugawa Ieyasu.
The shrine was originally built in the mixed style of Shintoism and Buddhism. But after the shogunate government came to its end, the new government led by the emperor, ordered the separation of the two religions, and some Buddhist style structures were removed or remodeled. The remnants of the Buddhist style can still be seen in various locations.
The same fundamental architectural style was copied by the Nikko Toshogu shrine which was built by the third shogun in 1636. Tens of other Toshogu shrines using the same architectural style were built by the local feudal lords all over Japan.
Hope you get a chance to visit this shrine and enjoy it.
Kunozan Tosho-Gu - Shizuoka - 久能山東照宮 - 4K Ultra HD
Founded in 1617 on top of Mount Kuno (216m) by Suruga Bay, Kunozan Tosho-Gu is a Shinto shrine and the original burial place of famous Shogun of the Tokugawa Shogunate, Tokugawa Ieyasu (1543-1616) who brought a long period of civil wars to an end and united all of Japan. Having spent the last decade of his life at the nearby Sumpu Castle, Ieyasu expressed his wish for a mausoleum on Mount Kunozan, the site of an ancient Buddhist temple named Kuno-ji dating from the early Nara period.
While accessible via a ropeway, Kunozan Tosho-Gu main approach is actually located by the sea and involves a considerable climb of over a thousands stone steps up to the mountain, which also gives you an impressive view of the Suruga Bay itself.

Kunozan Toshogu Shrine, Shizuoka
Fantastic Places in Cool Japan :
Tokugawa Ieyasu, who ended the long world of war and built the peaceful time of Japan for about 260 years. In the Japanese history of the Edo period, we have established an era that has many cultural and contemporary influences. Nikko Toshogu Shrine is one of the most famous places related to Ieyasu Tokugawa.
“Nikko Toshogu Shrine” is a tourist spot that is now registered as a World Heritage site, and it is a place where many tourists visit from overseas as well as Japan. Just like Nikko Toshogu Shrine, Toshogu Shrine, related to Ieyasu Tokugawa, is “Kunozan Toshogu Shrine”.

NIHONDAIRA AND TOSHOGU SHRINE - Shizuoka, Japan
This place came up as a recommended spot from our AirBnb host as being one of the top few places that actually has great views of Mt Fuji.
After doing a little more of our own research, we found out to our amazement that this is rated within the top 5 spots in Shizuoka to have a great view of the Shizuoka Plains alongside with Mt Fuji.
We were blessed with absolutely great views despite the strongest of winds and got to see Mt Fuji in of its splendour.
I have to admit, I'm easily satisfied by the view of Mt Fuji but later realising that the nearby temple is host to the final resting place of a revered character during the Samurai Period, I had to drop by and pay my respects.
I've always been a big fan of all games relating to Samurai. This was brought and highlighted to me when my former partner bought me the game Shogun 2 for PC and since then, it's been the game I frequently play when I'm in my downtime.
I am glad to pay my respects to this inspirational figure.

Kunozan Toshogu: A Shrine to Tokugawa Ieyasu
When Tokugawa Ieyasu died, Kunōzan Tōshōgū in Shizuoka Prefecture was built to enshrine his remains. They were lated moved to Nikko, but it is said that a part still remains in its original resting place. To this day, Kunōzan Tōshōgū remains a spectacular feat—an ornate shrine fit for a fearsome ruler.

JALAN JALAN KE SHIZUOKA, JEPANG - Kunozan Toshogu
Kunozan Toshogu adalah kuil yg di dedikasikan untuk Tokugawa Ieyasu, Shogun Jepang yang Klan-nya memerintah Jepang selama 250 tahun. Hebat ya!
Mungkin kalian pernah dengar tempat wisata namanya Nikkou Toshogu, katanya Nikko Toshogu dibangun setelah Kunozan Toshogu untuk pemakaman baru Tokugawa Ieyasu. Katanya Kunozan Toshogu kurang megah bwat didedikaskan untuk Tokugawa Iyeasu, makanya Nikko Toshogu dibangun sama penerus klan Tokugawa. Hormat banget sama leluhur, keren ya!
Bwat kalian yg cinta sejarah, gw recommend banget bwat main ke sini!
Maaf sementara upload video jalan2 ya hahaha...
Lagi sibuk persiapan ke Indonesia soalnya...kyah...
