The politics of Tallinn in Estonia, if the economic center of Tartu is a center of culture and ideas. And in the middle there is the University of Tartu. 1632 Swedish king Gustav II who founded the University of Tartu is one of the best universities in the capital and the whole of Estonia, the Nordic disciplines. Like a medieval university building top floor has housed the University jail. Time college student because the student committed a mistake in isolation rather than as a citizen of the University of Tartu citizens would otherwise have been punished according to the laws of the university. The fact that there was a basis for the penalties are clearly defined and ever. For example, if you have been smoking in my college days, even if you do not timely return the books to the library two days also, if you molest the girls 4 to 5, in the case of severe abuse or university have to fight three weeks jail is trapped in. At the time the students put graffiti painted remains intact within the prison. Incoming students are later were also committing a mistake deliberately by man does not come to the university went to prison again.

The Small Kannel
The video “The Small Kannel” gives a short overview of small kannel, a traditional plucked string instrument of the dulcimer and zither family native to Baltic-Finnic and Baltic people. It is estimated to be at at least 2000 years old, some say even 3000. For almost a hundred years, especially in the Soviet time, it was out of favour, but regained its popularity in the last decade. Mart Aardam is the small kannel maker from Saaremaa portrayed in the video, who has made ca 150 small kannels. Soundtrack: old Estonian folk tunes Sikusarve lugu/Buck Horn Tune and Paradiisi liblikas/Paradise Butterfly, played by Mart himself. Historical stills in Public Domain with permission to publish on other websites. Permission obtained to use stills of Estonian Song and Dance Festival for IWCS, a nonprofit organization, which promotes wood culture, to raise awareness and understanding of the key role wood plays in a sustainable world future. The Small Kannel is a video made for the contest Wood and Humanity sponsored by the International Wood Culture Society ( Author Maris Mitt, a 2nd year student of multimedia design at Kuressaare Regional Training Centre, Saaremaa, Estonia (disainimajakas.ee).
Paul's World of Wood

He fulfills his ideas and dreams in wood - from a small piece of jewellry to a real flying plane. Life in periphery
Life in Periphery is an international cooperation project (youth exchange) worked out and also carried out by youngsters.
All five partners are considered as small rural communities (Aizpute, Latvia - about 5000 inhabitants; Kuressaare, Estonia - 13 000 inhabitants+ situated on an island; Den Helder, the Netherlands - about 56 000 inhabitants for example) and/ or are situated far away from their country`s capital (Szczecin, Poland; Brno, Czech Republic). What connects all five partners strongly is their concern about the sustainability of rural areas.
All together we are worried about our communities ́ perspectives and sustainability. More precisely about the issue of how to motivate young people to stay or return to their home place.
The aim of the project is promote european youngsters ́ intercultural communication and cooperation, entreprenuerial attitude and active citizenship. The reason for making this project is to get a better idea of the youngsters situation in different countries ́ rural areas; a fresh look (from partners with different backgrounds) on each others communities, its benefits and opportunities for future; a basic know-how and empowerement to be an active community member, ideas and good examples of sustainable life at country- side.
The plan is to do it by getting an insight into the attitude of fellow local youngsters towards their future connection with rural community (local surveys conducted by participants) and comparing with attitudes from partner-countries; pulling attention towards the merits and value of living in rural community (through various field trips, presentations, workshops and success stories); assembling ideas and good examples on how to promote (youth) enterpreneurship and make rural areas more sustainable.
In the process a web content will be created to assemble all of our project results (survey results, interviews, conclusions etc) into a public blog. Simply to share the experience, for other people to discover and use and get inspiration from.
