Caesar and Putin similarities
Do you believe in reincarnation? If not, here is the living proof: uncanny similarities between Caesar and Putin …
1
Both were/are gifted orators
Caesar argued in the Senate every day for years on end, and the only recorded debates he lost were a small handful on legal technicalities which he knew he had no chance of winning but still debated them anyway because of principle. He is widely regarded as the most brilliant orator of the classical Roman period. Have you ever seen Putin lose a debate?
2
Both have the same shared interests
Caesar did rigorous combat training every day and was fanatical about long-distance running and horse riding (to overcome his epilepsy). Putin is a Judo expert who also loves extreme outdoor pursuits like skiing, hang-gliding, and scuba diving. Another shared interest is that both had/have an almost-encyclopaedic knowledge of history.
3
Both had/have the gift of appealing to the layman
Caesar often shared his meal with the lowest-ranking soldiers and would sleep on the ground with them to share their discomfort. After his civil war victory, Caesar joined in festive parties with people on the street and even refused personal bodyguards. Putin is often seen mingling with the public and also shares meals with low ranking soldiers on the front line.
4
Both would go to extraordinary lengths to achieve their goals
Caesar at one time marched his troops 300 miles around an enemy stronghold in Gaul which didn’t hold any strategic importance to him, and in so during prevented a needless battle. Putin leant the Tarta language in order to make a single address to the Tartastan assembly and win their support for Russian hegemony.
5
Both looked after veteran soldiers
Caesar made sure soldiers who fought alongside him were granted land and were well-supported for life. Likewise Putin was willing to change the law to support veteran soldiers until the grave.
6
Both had/have the same cool, calm, and calculated demeanour
They were/are known to crack a joke, snigger and even laugh when placed under intense pressure. Putin does this often with provocative media, and it was one of Ceasar’s well-known traits when rallying troops in the heat of battle.
7
Both have/had high regard for cultural assimilation and tradition
Caesar assimilated local tribes into his army through 'Romanization', let defeated towns and villages retain their cultural heritage and language (if they had surrendered peacefully), and even sent elder tribal chieftains to Rome to become part of the Senate. Putin returned the bones of persecuted artists who had fled the Soviet regime and died overseas.
8
Both were/are working for the people
After his civil war victory, Caesar emptied the treasury to provide festivals, circuses and bread for every Roman citizen. Also, he arrested corrupt officials, set up ground-breaking social reforms and rebuilding projects, cut all debt owed by the poor, and banned secret societies.
Putin quoted that the state treasury belongs to the Russian people. He built entire new towns and villages after Siberian forest fires, and has nullified Cuba’s debt. After his inauguration, he either arrested or exiled the corrupt business oligarchy that was ruling and undermining Russia at that time. His social reforms have taken Russia from the brink of total collapse in the early 2000s to become a modern prosperous world power, despite NATO sanctions.
9
Both showed great clemency to their enemies
Caesar pardoned every general he fought against during the civil war and let them retain their positions of power afterwards. Likewise, Putin ended long-term imprisonment for two corrupt officials so that they could live with dying family members, released captured Ukrainian general Koval after the recent Crimean standoff, and let all Ukrainian sailors retain their ranks, awards and service records if they defected to the Russian Federation.
10
Extreme military Competence
Caesar sits at the table of all-time great military commanders. But don’t underestimate Putin. His drubbings of Western powers and NATO in recent Crimean and Syrian campaigns would’ve been a 10-nil thrashing in footy terms.
11
Here's the smoking gun ...
Both quelled unrest by meeting hostile crowds face-to-face
Caesar would do this with mutinous troops and angry street mobs. Similarly, Putin uses the same ‘Here I am – take your frustrations out on me!’ and ‘You’ve had it tough – deal with it!’ approach. He did this with Kursk submarine disaster family members and Siberian forest fire victims.

Active Measures Trailer
ACTIVE MEASURES chronicles the most successful espionage operation in Russian history, the American presidential election of 2016. Filmmaker Jack Bryan exposes a 30-year history of covert political warfare devised by Vladmir Putin to disrupt, and ultimately control world events. In the process, the filmmakers follow a trail of money, real estate, mob connections, and on the record confessions to expose an insidious plot that leads directly back to The White House. With democracy hanging in the balance, ACTIVE MEASURES is essential viewing. Unraveling the true depth and scope of the Russia story as we have come to know it, this film a jarring reminder that some conspiracies hide in plain sight.
