Kuşadası is a resort town on Turkey's Aegean coast, and the center of the seaside district of the same name within Aydın Province. Kuşadası is 95 km (59 mi) south of İzmir, and 71 km (44 mi) from Aydın. The municipality's primary industry is tourism.

The city walls – There were once three gates; one remains.
Kaleiçi Mosque – Built in 1618 by Grand Vizier Öküz Kara Mehmed Pasha.
The Öküz Mehmed Pasha Caravanserai is near the docks. It was built in 1618 as a strong-room for the goods of seamen.
Güvercin Adası (Pigeon Island in English) – The peninsula/island at the end of the bay, which has a castle and swimming beaches, including a private beach and cafe with a view back across the bay to the harbour of Kuşadası. Public beaches are located at the back of the peninsula, towards the open sea.
Kirazli – Traditional Turkish village 12 kilometres (7.5 mi) from Kuşadası.
Yılancı Burnu – A second peninsula beyond Güvercin Ada. Possibly the location of the original settlement of Neopolis. Some walls are visible. There are beaches and beach clubs here.
Several aqua-parks with wave-pools and white-water slides are located near the town.
Ladies Beach – Very close to the town center, one of the primary tourist attractions.
Kadıkalesi – Venetian/Byzantine castle, 10 kilometres (6.2 mi) along the Kuşadası-Davutlar road.[24]
Panionium – 25 km (16 mi) south of Kuşadası, situated along the Davutlar-Güzelçamlı road. Once the central meeting place of the Ionian League. The ruins are in poor condition and their authenticity is disputed.
Dilek Peninsula-Büyük Menderes Delta National Park – About 30 kilometres (19 mi) south of the city centre, the national park is adjacent to the town of Güzelçamlı. It has several coves, beaches, canyons, and a sink cave. It is one of the most diverse and protected national parks in Turkey.

Kuşadası İlçesi, Hacıfeyzullah Mahallesinde bulunan Güvercinada Kalesi, Kuşadası Körfezinin ağzında limanı koruyan bir konumda yapılmıştır. Güvercinada üzerinde, Barbaros Hayrettin Paşa tarafından yaptırılan bir iç kale ve İlyas Ağa tarafından yaptırılan surlar yer almaktadır.

Bu surlar Mora İsyanı sırasında adalardan ve denizden gelebilecek saldırıları önleyebilmek için yaptırılmıştır. Surlar adayı çepeçevre saracak şekilde yaklaşık 3 metre yüksekliğinde inşa edilmiştir.

Kalenin yapımında kullanılan taşlar Yılancıburnundan getirilmiştir. Surların güneyinde doğu yönüne cepheli merdivenlerle çıkılan yuvarlak kemerli ve iki kule ile korunan kale giriş kapısı yer almaktadır.

Kuzey kule beşgen, güney kule ise silindirik biçimdedir. Kapı üstündeki kitabe boşluğu daha önce burada bir kitabenin olduğunu göstermektedir. Surların inşa kitabesi, kuzeydeki kule duvarı üzerinde bulunmaktadır. Kitabe 4 satır ve 20 mısradır. Sene 1242 (1826).

ENGLISH:
Güvercinada (“Pigeon Island”) is a peninsula in on the Aegean Sea coast of Turkey.

It is connected to mainland town of Kuşadası by manmade passage.

Most of the island is covered by a defensive fortress (or castle, as they call it). The fortress was commissioned by Admiral Hayreddin Barbarossa of the Ottoman navy (c. 1478– 1546).

The walls were built to stave off attacks during the Greek Orlov Revolt (1770).

3 meters (or 9.8 feet) in height, these walls encompass virtually the entire island!

The stones were brought in from a quarry at Yılancıburnu.

The castle gate is flanked by two towers. The northern tower is shaped like a pentagon; the southern is cylindric.

The inscription over the castle gate is missing as known from its empty place.

An inscription on the northern tower consists of four lines, and dates to 1242 AH (1826 AD).

TRIP TO TURKEY - PART 2 (KUSADASI & PAMUKKALE)

Explored Ephesus, one of the world’s most outstanding archaeological sites. Awesome structures such as the Library of Celsius, Hadrian Temple, Marble Street and Agora. Ephesus is also one of the 7 Churches of Revelation and holds the House of Virgin Mary. Virgin Mary and St. John were said to have lived in Ephesus and died there. We also visited one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World - Artemis Temple. Continued to Pamukkale and visited the ruins Ancient City of Hierapolis and explored Cotton Castle, a World Heritage site, made of fascinating white terraces and pools created by calcareous hot spring waters flowing down the mountain.
