Kusadasi, Turkey | Ephesus Tour
We had a great visit in Kusadasi, Turkey from our NCL (Norweigian Cruise Line) Arabian Odyssey cruise. We were on the Jade ship. We were able to hire a private taxi using Trip Advisor. The driver met us at the port and did a great job getting us to ancient Ephesus. He was shared some great info about his country along the way. He was very helpful in getting us tickets to enter. He told us where to go and met us at the exit with fresh oranges! We had enough time to do some window shopping and visit a fish market.
Kusadasi Turkey From Port to Ephesus
We get off The Celebrity Silhouette, Cruise ship in Turkey and we find a tour guide and cabbie and he shows us the surrounding areas. When you are crushing around the world and have to hail a cab it helps to haggle and shop around for a good price. Many cab drivers are really pushy in the area of the port exit so it helps to have a little patience, and don't be afraid to walk away. The cab driver we got was parked away from all of the other cab drivers. He was much nicer and spoke better English than the others and the best part he took us to Ephesus and back for the cheapest price. He became our tour guide for the day taking us to many other important historical sites around the area. The area near the port has a lot of tourist type stores. Almost every listed price in the markets is available for negotiation. They have lots of knock off items, and plenty of turkish delight, and hand woven Turkish rugs. The weather here is very similar to southern California, semi arid temperate climate. They grow lots of olives, grapes and citrus trees

Kusadasi & Ephesus, Turkey
Kuşadası is a resort town on the Aegean coast of Turkey, near the ancient city of Ephesus, 90 km south of İzmir and a short distance across from the island of Samos.
It is extremely popular as a tourist destination, both for its many beaches, and as the port for cruise ship passengers heading to Ephesus. Kusadasi has a residential population of 50,000 which rises to over half a million during the summer due to local and foreign tourists.
Ephesus, was one of the great cities of the Ionian Greeks in Anatolia, located in Lydia where the Cayster River (Küçük Menderes) flows into the Aegean Sea (in modern day Turkey). It was founded by colonists principally from Athens. The ruins of Ephesus are favourite for domestic and international tourism attractions, due to easy accesibility via İzmir ADB airport and via the port of Kuşadası.
Kusadasi & Ephesus (a Very unOfficial Guide)
We visited Kusadasi and Ephesus, Turkey, while cruising on the Mariner of the Seas. It was absolutely amazing! While still not quite as impressive as Pompeii, (I can't imagine that anything is), visiting the ruins of Ephesus gives you a great insight into what life was like 2,000 years ago.

VIEW OF KUSADASI live in Turkey
Kusadasi - Kuşadası (pronounced [ˈkuʃadasɯ]) is a resort town on Turkey's Aegean coast and the center of the seaside district of the same name in Aydın Province. Kuşadası lies at a distance of 95 km (59 mi) to the south from the region's largest metropolitan center of İzmir, and 71 km (44 mi) from the provincial seat of Aydın situated inland. Its primary industry is tourism. Her neighbours are Germencik district from northeast, Söke one from southeast, Aegean Sea from west and Selçuk district from north. The name comes from 'kuş' (bird) and 'ada' (island) as the peninsula has the shape of a bird's head (as seen from the sea). It was known as Ephesus Neopolis, in greek (Ἔφεσος Νεόπολις) during the Byzantine era, and later as Scala Nova or Scala Nuova under the Genovese and Venetians. Kuş-Adası was adopted in its place at the beginning of the 20th century. Today, citizens of Kuşadası often shorten the name to Ada. The Roman Empire took possession of the coast in the 2nd century BC and made it their provincial capital[5] and in the early years of Christianity. St John the Evangelist and (according to Roman Catholic sacred tradition) Mary (mother of Jesus) both came to live in the area, which in the Christian era became known as Ania.
The Byzantine fleet that moved against Crete in the expedition of 960 took off from the port of Phygela. Later the port was a haven for pirates.[citation needed]
As Byzantine, Venetian and Genoese shippers began to trade along the coast the port was re-founded (as Scala Nuova or Scala Nova - new port), a garrison was placed on the island, and the town centre moved from the hillside to the coast.
From 1086 the area came under Turkish control and the Aegean ports became the final destination of caravan routes to the Orient. However this arrangement was overthrown by the Crusades and the coast again came under Byzantine control until 1280 when first the Menteşe and then the Aydinid Anatolian beyliks took control. Kuşadası was brought into the Ottoman Empire by Mehmet I in 1413. The Ottomans built the city walls and the caravanserai that still stand today.

Izmir,Kusadasi - Turkey 2012
This article is about the city in Turkey. For province of Turkey, see Izmir Province.
Izmir (Turkish: İzmir, Greek: Σμύρνη Smyrni, Latin Smyrna) is a large metropolis in the western extremity of Anatolia and the third most populous city in Turkey. Izmir metropolitan area extends along the outlying waters of the Gulf of İzmir and inland to the north across Gediz River's delta, to the east along an alluvial plain created by several small streams and to a slightly more rugged terrain in the south. The ancient city was known as Smyrna, (Σμύρνη, Smyrne in Greek) and the city was generally referred to as Smyrna in English, until the Turkish Postal Services Law of 1930 made Izmir the internationally recognized name.
The city of Izmir is composed of several metropolitan districts. Of these, Konak district corresponds to historical Izmir, this district's area having constituted the Izmir Municipality (Turkish: İzmir Belediyesi) area until 1984, Konak until then having been a name for a central neighborhood around Konak Square, still the core of the city. With the constitution of the Greater Izmir Metropolitan Municipality (Turkish: İzmir Büyükşehir Belediyesi), the city of Izmir became a compound bringing together initially nine, and since recently eleven metropolitan districts, namely Balçova, Bayraklı, Bornova, Buca, Çiğli, Gaziemir, Güzelbahçe, Karabağlar, Karşıyaka, Konak and Narlıdere. Almost each of these settlements are former district centers or neighborhoods which stood on their own and with their own distinct features and temperament. In an ongoing processus, the Mayor of Izmir was also vested with authority over the areas of additional districts reaching from Aliağa in the north to Selçuk in the south, bringing the number of districts to be considered as being part of Izmir to twenty-one under the new arrangements, two of these having been administratively included in Izmir only partially.
According to the Turkish Statistical Institute, as of 2011 the city of Izmir had a population of 2,783,866 and its metropolitan municipality 3,366,947.[1][2]
