Japanese Fire Purification - Kushida Shrine Shuki Reitaisai Hiwatari Shinji 櫛田神社秋季例大祭 - 火渡り神事
Shuki Reitaisai is a Japanese Purification Festival at Kushida Shrine in Imizu, Toyama Prefecture. A procession is made around the area to collect on the evils and misfortunes of the area.
Past the first Torii Gate of Kushida Shrine a divine fire is made. Two groups rush through the blazing bonfire to purify all the evils collected .
櫛田神社(火渡り神事)火を渡る獅子舞 Shinto Fire-walking Ritual
縁結びの神として信仰を集める富山県射水市･櫛田神社の秋季例大祭の恒例行事。神輿と獅子が地区を一巡後、神社の境内で杉の枝が燃え立つ炎の中を、獅子舞や神輿が駆け抜け、けがれを焼き払います。不動明王信仰に基づく神仏混交のもので、天台山伏によって伝えられたと言われています。火渡り神事の後、本殿と社務所前で獅子舞が舞われます。 Shinto Fire-walking Ritual is the part of the annual fall festival of Kushida Shrine, famous for the god of marriage, matchmaking, in Imizu-city, Toyama. It is said that this Fire-walking is from the mixture of shintoism and Buddhism based on religious faith in Fudo Myoo, acala naatha in Sanskrit.
