Biking to Cape Toi, Kushima, Miyazaki, Japan
Cape Toi, located in the south of Miyazaki Prefecture, is a cape at the east end of Shibushi Bay, which is in the southernmost part of the Nichinan-kaigan Coast. Gentle hills extend, and you can observe wild horses, called Misaki-uma, living and grazing there. It is said that the Misaki-uma are the descendants of army horses left grazing and which became wild 300 years ago. They are now designated as a natural monument. At the Horse House in the Toi-misaki Visitor Center, information about the ecology and living circumstances of the Misaki-uma is displayed on panels.

In Haniwa Gardens where over 400 replica haniwa (burial statues), also Miyazaki's history and culture on display at The Miyazaki Prefectural Museum of Nature and History, located on the same grounds as the picturesque Miyazaki Shrine.

We drove to Cape Toi at Miyazaki Japan famous for its Misaki horses.

The Misaki is one of eight breeds considered native to Japan, and lives as a feral horse in a natural setting in a designated National Monument on Cape Toi (also known as Toimisaki) that is located within the municipal boundaries of Kushima at the south end of Miyazaki Prefecture on the island of Kyūshū.

Nuclear power in Japan
As of November 2015, Japan has one nuclear power plant in operation.
Prior to the earthquake and tsunami of March 2011, and the nuclear disasters that resulted from it, Japan had generated 30% of its electrical power from nuclear reactors and planned to increase that share to 40%. Nuclear energy was a national strategic priority in Japan, but there had been concern about the ability of Japan's nuclear plants to withstand seismic activity. The Kashiwazaki-Kariwa Nuclear Power Plant was completely shut down for 21 months following an earthquake in 2007.
