美術館でナイトライブ Jazz Night at The Kutaniyaki Art Museum Kaga City Japan
九谷焼美術館は石川県加賀市にある日本で唯一の九谷焼専門美術館。２階にある「茶房古九谷」は、そのティーメニューのクオリティ、作品の販売展示ギャラリー、ともに破格の素晴らしさです。「美術館友の会」による恒例のナイトパーティ。今回は金沢在住のジャズピアニストがゲスト出演してくれました。

You can see the remains of this kiln that has been brought down over the generations since its original construction in 1826 by Den’enmon Toyoda who had intended to revive the tradition of Kokutani pottery. In the main hall, famous Kutaniyaki works are displayed, and along with visitors being able to try painting and using the potter’s wheel, porcelain created by Kutaniyaki artists are also sold.

Yamashiro Onsen, Kaga / Hokuriku, Ishikawa Pref.
Yamashiro Onsen is one of the largest hot spring resorts in Kaga City, Ishikawa Prefecture, an area in the Hokuriku region facing the Sea of Japan.
Yamashiro Onsen has a history of over 1,300 years and has retained much of the traditional culture. The soyu (public bathhouses) in the town center in the area called Yunogawa was built in the Edo period (1603-1867). Ko-soyu, also in Yunogawa, is a reproduction of a century-old soyu.
The region is also the home of world-renowned Kutani-yaki (Kutani ware porcelain) of which fine examples are exhibited in the museum. The old ryokans with red latticework and the traditional houses give the area its authentic feel of historical Japan with an artistic atmosphere.

Kutani Yaki is produced in Ishikawa Prefecture, notably Kaga where beautiful arts and crafts, tea ceremony culture, and other heritage comparable to that of Kyoto were developed and nurtured.

Komatsu city, located in the southwest of Ishikawa prefecture. With the sacred mountain Hakusan to the east, and the sea of Japan to the west, is blessed with beautiful scenery and abundance natural beauty. An area is 371 ㎢ and population of about 110,000 people.
Considering remains, the first footprint of the human is 20,000 years ago in Komatsu. Important remains ware excavated in Yayoi village in the 2,400 years ago. The clay of the Tumulus periods is also rare.
350 years ago, Maeda Toshitsune, the lord of Kaga, retired and moved to Komatsu castle. He pressed forward with urban maintenance.
The Chubu Region consists of nine prefectures and is located in the center of Japan.

Kutani-ware has been produced in Japan for over 300 years within remote villages of the 'nine valleys' (Kutani means nine valleys) region of Kaga province in Japan's Ishikawa prefecture (please see map below). Noted for it's fine brush work and delicate porcelain, Kutani kilns have produced some of Japan's finest ceramic art through generations of refined production. Though the actual origins of Kutani-ware are uncertain, we know that the kilns of the nine valleys were long supported through the patronage of the powerful Maeda clan who were the hereditary rulers of the region.
