The Kyaikpun Pagoda is a pagoda in the city of Bago, Myanmar. Inside this Pagoda is the Kyaikpun Buddha, a Four Seated Buddha. It was constructed by King Migadippa in the 7th Century and renovated by King Dhammazedi in the 15th century.

เจดีย์ไจ๊ปุ่น Kyaik Pun Pagoda

Located in the Bago Division of Myanmar in the city of Bago. Kyaik Pun Pagoda is the home to the Four Seated Buddha shrine, a 90 ft (27 m) statue depicting the four Buddhas namely Kakkusana, Konagamana, Kassapa, and Gotama seated in four positions, sitting back to back to four directions. The Four Seated Buddha was built by King Migadippa of Bago in the 7th Century AD (tradition) and renovated by King Dhammaceti in the 15th century AD.
มีอายุมากกว่า 500 ปี สร้างเป็นพระพุทธรูปปางมารวิชัยขนาดใหญ่ 4 องค์หันพระพักตร์ไปทุกทิศทาง มีตำนานเล่าว่า พระราชธิดาทั้งสี่องค์ของกษัตริย์มอญสร้างไว้ โดยอธิษฐานว่า จะไม่ยอมอภิเษก แต่ตอนหลังพระธิดาองค์เล็กได้อภิเษก เป็นการผิดสัจจะ พระพุทธรูปองค์หนึ่งในจำนวนสี่องค์นี้ ก็เลยพังทลายลงมา
เจดีย์นี้ได้รับการบูรณะเมื่อ พ.ศ.2019 ประทับนั่งโดยรอบทั้ง 4 ทิศ ประกอบ ด้วยองค์สมเด็จพระสมณโคดมสัมมาสัมพุทธเจ้า (ผินพระพักตร์ไปทางทิศเหนือ) กับพระพุทธเจ้าในอดีต สามพระองค์คือ พระพุทธเจ้าโกนาคมโน (ทิศใต้) พระพุทธเจ้ากกุสันโธ (ทิศตะวันออก) และพระพุทธเจ้ามหากัสสปะ(ทิศตะวันตก)

Myanmar (Burma) - Bago to Yangon

Coach trips have never been my favourite form of travel but this one was different. Accompanied by my wife and son and a whole contingent of Thai family and friends we flew to Yangon in Myanmar (Burma) for a 2 night adventure.

It was amazing what we were able to see and do in such a short space of time.

The second day's adventure began with a trip to the Kya Khat Waing Monastery in Bago province, where we watched several hundred monks take their morning meal and receive donations from the hordes of (mainly Thai) tourists.

Then we headed to the nearby Kyaik Pun Pagoda to see the four faced Buddha statue, before setting off for Yangon. In downtown Yangon we visited the old Bogyoke Aung San Market (aka the Scott Market) and the gleaming new Junction City shopping mall just across the road.

Then it was off to the amazing Shwedagon Pagoda, where thousands of pilgrims walk around the shrines and make merit. It was a magical experience being there as the sun went down and the lights came on.

The final day of the trip was a busy one. We began the day by visiting the enormous reclining Buddha at the Chauk Htat Gyi Pagoda. This temple is basically just an enormous shed to protect the 65 metre long statue, famed for its beautiful expressive face.

Next stop was the Botahtaung Pagoda down by the river. This place has become a mecca for Thai tourists, who flock there to touch their heads against the finger of guardian spirit Bo Bo Gyi's hand and make a wish.

The final stop of the trip was the Kyauktan Yele Pagoda - a temple built on an island in Hmaw Wun Creek, a tributary of Yangon River. Accessed by long tail boat, this was a beautiful and fascinating place and a fitting finale to a very interesting adventure.

In this video we explore the Burmese cities of Yangon & Bago, their magnetic pull for many travellers being the variety of colossal, dazzlingly beautiful pagodas that these two cities offer.

Yangon is the (unofficial) capital city of Myanmar. It boasts several stunning pagodas like the Shwedagon Pagoda, Sule pagoda and the Maha Wizaya Pagoda (featured in the video). Maha Bandula park is a lovely green space in the city centre surrounded by many beautiful buildings such as the City Hall & High Court buildings.The 46m high independence monument dominates the centre of the park. Yangon also features two important lakes (Inya Lake & Kandawgyi Lake), popular places with locals for walking and fishing. There are a variety of museums in the city such as the national museum, Myanmar gems museum etc.Yangon also has excellent restaurants and cafes for food and coffee lovers. Yangon is represented by many religions. There are mosques, catholic churches, buddhist pagodas, Jewish synagogues and Chinese temples.

Bago, about 91km from Yangon, is all about extravagant & colossal pagodas (zedis), gigantic reclining buddha statues and the very unique Snake pagoda, which features a 120-year old Burmese Python, about 17ft in length, believed to be a reincarnation of a formerly deceased Buddhist monk!
