The skyfall - kynrem falls, Cherapunjee, Meghalaya, India
Kynrem Falls, located at a distance of 12 km from Sohra in the East Khasi Hills district is a three-tiered waterfall covering a distance of 305 m vertically. The base of the falls passes through the motorable road that goes all the way to Bangladesh and a small bridge provides movement for vehicles and people across this waterfall. The fall spreads out in two different streams or rivulets with each of them gaining momentum by getting merged while flowing down the last leg of the third tier. The source of this fall originates from Thangkharang Park. It’s the 7th highest waterfall in India and due to its seasonal nature; this waterfall is best enjoyed during the monsoons. The roaring din of the cascading fall poses a healthy competition to the noisy cicadas all around the neighbourhood of this fall.

Video description:
In this video we show you the spectacular waterfalls & living root bridges that Cherrapunji is so famous for. Cherrapunji, located in Meghalaya state, North-East India, is easily a contender for the most inspiring and incredible places we've visited in Asia so far.
Cherrapunji is the second wettest place on Earth. All this rain does have its perks though because without it, you wouldn't see the incredible waterfalls that Cherrapunji is famous for. In this video we show you the waterfalls cascading down from the Eco Tourism Park, the Nohsngithiang Falls (Seven Sisters Falls), Nohkhalikai Falls (340m, tallest plunge waterfall in India) and Rainbow Falls (incredibly beautiful remote jungle waterfall). Many of these waterfalls (except for Rainbow falls) are view-able from viewpoints near the town of Sohra (Cherrapunji town).
Cherrapunji is also known for the unique and fascinating living root bridges. These all natural bridges are hand-made by the tribal Khasi & Jaintia people, from the aerial roots of the rubber fig tree (ficus elastica). The aerial roots are interwoven across rivers to form incredibly strong and durable bridges, allowing the people to traverse the river even during heavy floods.
To see the living root bridges, we trek from the small village of Tyrna to the remote tribal village of Nongriat. In Nongriat you can find a homestay and stay there a few nights to experience the famous double decker living root bridge, which is found in the village itself.
You can also make daily treks into the surrounding wilderness, using Nongriat as a base, to see more amazing living root bridges and the incredibly beautiful rainbow waterfall.

Kynrem falls, the 7th highest waterfalls in India
At 1,001 feet (305m), the Kynrem falls is the 7th highest waterfall in India. It is a three tiered waterfall that is located in the Thangkharang Park near Cherrapunji in the East Khasi Hills district of Meghalaya.
It is a three tiered waterfall that can either be viewed as a long shot from the view points inside Thangkharang Park or as a view from the bottom from the road that connects Cherrapunji to the Bangladesh border.
Kynrem Falls is one of the the highest waterfall of Meghalaya that cascades in three levels from the top of a hill. Flushed with water after a rain, this fall offers a spectacular sight especially when viewed from below with the water gushing down at full speed on to the rocks forming a mist and spray on the onlookers / tourists.
A little ahead of the falls is a view point from where one can see the three levels of the fall as well as the water flowing down under the bridge in all its grandeur.

Kynrem falls Cherrapunjee, Meghalaya
One of the most beautiful waterfalls in Meghalaya, Visit here full of adventure
Nohkalikai Falls in Cherapunji - Tallest plunge waterfall in India
Nohkalikai Falls is the tallest plunge waterfall in India with a height of 1100 feet located near Cherrapunji, one of the wettest places on Earth. Nohkalikai Falls are fed by the rainwater collected on the summit of comparatively small plateau and decrease in power during the dry season in December - February. Below the falls there has formed a plunge pool with unusual green colored water.
Cherapunji also called Sohra, Cherrapunjee and Charrapunji, is a town in East Khasi Hills district in the Indian state of Meghalaya. It is credited as being the wettest place on Earth. However, nearby Mawsynram has more rainfall nowadays, and both are surpassed by Lloró, Colombia. Today, climatic changes have edged Cherrapunji out of the topmost 'wet' slot, but it still retains its pristine beauty, its unusual facets, the perpetual clouds, and the perpetual mists. Appropriately, Cherrapunji lies in the heart of the State of Meghalaya-the abode of clouds. It is the traditional capital of a hima which is a Khasi tribal chieftainship constituting a petty state known as Sohra or Churra. High above misty valleys and foaming rivers, ensconced in swirling clouds and perched on an escarpment, lies Cherrapunji (4,500 feet).
Cherrapunji receives rains from the Bay of Bengal arm of the Indian summer monsoon. The monsoon clouds fly unhindered over the plains of Bangladesh for about 400 km. Thereafter, they hit the Khasi Hills which rise abruptly from the plains to a height of about 1370 m above mean sea level within 2 to 5 km. The winds push the rain clouds through these gorges and up the steep slopes. The rapid ascent of the clouds into the upper atmosphere hastens the cooling and helps vapours to condense. Most of Cherrapunji's rain is the result of air being lifted as a large body of water vapour. The extreme amount of rainfall at Cherrapunji is perhaps the best-known feature of orographic rain in northeast India.
The home of enterprising Khasi clans, Cherrapunji's place in the Guinness Book of Records is not its only claim to fame. Along with falls lesser in height but no less alluring, the spectacular, cascading 1,035-ft-high Mawsmai Falls-the fourth highest in India-lie just a few kilometers beyond Cherrapunji. Close by is situated a fascinating labyrinth of underground passages beneath age-old caves-a veritable dream for amateur explorers. Elsewhere around Cherrapunji, Khasi monoliths (stones in memory of their ancestors) lie dotted around-a vague reminder of the forests of Bastar. Cherrapunji has several comfortable private hotels. Staying at the Circuit House and the Dak Bungalow require prior permission from the administration. Cherrapunji is 58 km from Shillong, the capital of Meghalaya. A steep motorable road, almost perpetually bathed in mist as it climbs upwards on the last lap, leads up to Cherrapunji. Buses and taxis ply to Cherrapunji from Shillong.

On the 2nd day we explored cherrapunji/Sohra which is one of the most beautiful part of Meghalaya. It is known for its massive water falls such as Nohkalikai, Wah-kaba, Seven sister, Kynrem, Rainbow falls etc. It was winter so most of them were dry so we had to choose locations with out the water falls. We selected Mawphlang Sacred Forest and Nohkalikai because probably it is the only water fall to hold water in this season.Got wakaba falls as a bonus on the way to Nohkalikai.
Taxi fare for all the spots: 2500 rupee
Zero liter Zip lining cost: 500 rupee for 2 line and 300 rupee for single line.

Managed and well maintained by the State Forest Department, this park on Mawsmai - Shella Road - about 8 kms from Sohra is a popular tourist spot. There are many rare and exotic orchids and some rare species of plants endemic to the area. A panoramic view of the plains of Bangladesh is clearly visible on a clear day from the park.
Thangkarang Park laid on the high rocky cliffs overlooks the plains of Bangladesh. You can spot the imposing Kynrem falls cascading down majestically in three stages. The bird sanctuary at nearby Thangkarang with the awesome view of the imposing waterfalls set against the backdrop of Bangladesh plains is a bonanza for tourists, both foreign and domestic.
