Corsica, France - Pretty Much Paradise
We rented a villa in Corsica for a week with some friends from this cool site called The Thinking Traveler. The island was incredible and pretty difficult to get to, but that's why it was so amazing. Also not many people speaking anything other than french, which is also a good sign. Pretty much just a beautiful french island for people from France in the summer.
Great times, and will definitely be going back.

Battaglia Toba-Fushimi
The Battle of Toba–Fushimi occurred between pro-Imperial and Tokugawa shogunate forces during the Boshin War in Japan. The battle started on 27 January 1868 (Keiō 4th year), when the forces of the Tokugawa shogunate and the allied forces of Chōshū, Satsuma and Tosa Domains clashed near Fushimi, Kyoto. The battle lasted for four days, ending in a decisive defeat for the Tokugawa shogunate.

Japan: Kinkaku-ji Temple in Kyoto (2/3) 2012-02-27(Mon)1208hrs
Kinkaku-ji (lit. Temple of the Golden Pavilion) dazzles with gold leaf as its name suggests. Few people know its official name, Rokuon-ji (lit. Temple of the Deer Garden). The temple was founded in 1397 and built in 1398 on the orders of the 3rd Shogun of the Ashikaga clan, Yoshimitsu (1358-1408). The temple was burnt down in 1950 by a novice monk by the name of Shōken HAYASHI (real name: Yōken HAYASHI, c.1929-56) as depicted in the famous novel (1956) by Yukio MISHIMA (real name: Kimitaké HIRAOKA, 1925-70). The present temple is meant to reflect the state as it was founded at the end of the 14th century rather than the reconstruction the pre-war condition.

restaurante de tempura en gion (kyoto)
encontramos este restaurante en guion gracias a la lonely planet, que se llama ozawa. cuando llegamos estaba cerrado, pero nos lo abrieron para nosotros (que corte). la tempura estaba buenisma, pero no es un sitio barato. pagamos 20.000 yenes por 5 personas. pero valio la pena, porque es una casa tradicional japonesa(machiya) y ademas la tempura la hacen delante tuya y enseguida te la sirven.
es un poco dificil de encontrar, pero lo conocen los vecinos y esta en la calle shirakawa minami-dori, donde hay un pequeño canal y hay que cruzar un puentecito para entrar en la casa.
