Japanese mid-summer chill: Kyu Yasuda Teien Garden, Tokyo.
brings you supreme chill out - traditional Japanese style. Beautiful Kyu-Sumida Teien Gardens in the heart of Tokyo's east end, an old garden dating from 1691. Early August sees the Garden's Noryo no Yube (Cool of Evening Festival). Listen to the eerily comforting sounds of ancient Japanese music - koto (harp) and fue (flute) - played on a lakeside stage, and the traditionally-attired crowds - seeking respite from the summer heat in this serene, sylvan setting.

How to get to HAMARIKYU GARDENS in Tokyo?

At the opening of the garden, its main feature was 360 plum trees were in 10000 ㎡ of land.
In later years, many famous plants mentioned in classic Chinese and Japanese pieces of literature such as Shikyou or Manyoushu were planted: Bush Clover or Japanese pampas grass from Tsukuba etc. From that period on, people can enjoy flowers all four seasons.

The Art of the Sword
Japanese swords have a long history rooted in the culture of Japan. However, these razor-sharp blades are more than just weapons wielded by ancient warriors. The Japanese Sword Museum works to preserve these precious works as art. Witness the beauty that forged the path for modern Japanese style and craftsmanship.
10.30.10: Edo-Tokyo Museum
Day 2: Sarah and I visited the Edo-Tokyo Museum (Ryogoku Station, Oedo Line), where you can experience Edo-era (1603-1867) Japan through a series of lifesize (ex. a replica of Nihonbashi, which you can walk across) and scale models (ex. the Mitsukoshi textile warehouse) of various features of the time period. We also caught a rakugo (comic storytelling) performance, in which one actor created his own sound effects and used gestures to make fun of the Edo-era differences between Osaka and Tokyo and compare soba and udon sellers. XD There were also some interactive exhibits scattered around the museum, like one in which you had to lift a fake crate of gold bars.
The house at the end is decidedly not Edo-era. Sorry.
