Last February 2019, I went to Kiruna for enjoying my birthday. I chose to visit LKAB, the biggest ore mining in Europe. And, the second biggest underworld ore mining in the world.
LKAB as a company offers the tour for the tourist for getting experience and understanding about ore mining.
LKAB Tour brought me to enjoy the mining around 540 m below ground level. In this tour, I got an explanation the reason why Kiruna Municipality should relocate its city centre. The tour was very interesting :)

Kiruna is a town in the far north of Swedish Lapland. It’s known for the huge LKAB iron ore mine and its underground visitors center with an exhibit on mining. Hjalmar Lundbohmsgården, the 19th-century former home of LKAB’s first managing director, is now a museum with a courtyard photography exhibit. Kiruna Church is notable for its bell tower and resemblance to the traditional huts of the indigenous Sámi people.

Kiruna (Northern Sami: Giron, Finnish: Kiiruna) is the northernmost town in Sweden, situated in the province of Lapland. It had 18,148 inhabitants in 2010[1] and is the seat of Kiruna Municipality (population: 23,099 in 2008[2]) in Norrbotten County.
The city's vicinity shares a long history with the indigenous Sami people, with evidence of at least 6000 years of settlement. The city of Kiruna was founded in 1900 and quickly became a major centre of iron ore extraction and mining industry.[citation needed] During World War II, large quantities of iron were transported from Kiruna by rail to the east coast, and further down to be sold to Germany.[citation needed] Due to Kiruna's position north of the Arctic Circle the city experiences both midnight sun and polar night throughout the year as well as a very cold climate by Scandinavian standards.
Esrange Space Center was established in Kiruna in the 1960s.[3] Also in Kiruna are the Institute of Space Physics[4] and the Department of Space Science belonging to Luleå University of Technology.[5]

How is Sweden is managing to move an entire town? - BBC Travel Show
Moving house is hard but in Kiruna, Sweden they are having to move the house as well. The entire town is moving a few miles down the road is being relocated and rebuilt as a new town a few miles.
Located next to the largest underground iron ore mine in the world, the ground underneath the town is at risk of collapsing into a chasm as the mine continues to expand.
Some of town’s old buildings are being transported whole to the new site, others are being dismantled and reassembled piece by piece, and many others will be demolished.

Kiruna’s new town hall “The Crystal” by Henning Larsen
The Swedish town of Kiruna, 95 miles north of the Arctic Circle, sits atop the largest iron ore mine on the planet. A century of mining operations has begun to destabilize the earth around Kiruna. In response to this threat, mining firm Luossavaara-Kiirunavaara (LKAB) has proposed a direct solution: Move Kiruna three kilometers east. Demolishing the old Kiruna and moving residents to a fresh city center with a new town hall.
Henning Larsen’s design incorporates the iconic 1958 bell tower and original door handles from the main entrance – Representing not only a visual reimagining of Kiruna’s identity, but a physical continuation of the town’s history. The building’s circular form embodies its communal focus: As the heart of the new town center, The Crystal offers universal access to the surrounding community while focusing energy and activity inward toward its social core.
The town hall stands as a living room for the new Kiruna, open and accessible to all. Present at the ceremony was H.M King Carl XVI Gustaf, who officially opened the new building and congratulated the city on the new building that hopefully will be of joy to all citizens and future generations in Kiruna, as he said during his speech.
